I like to take a personal approach to each student and base their plan on what type of music the student enjoys, what technical hurdles need to be overcome, and what is attainable in the time frame the student has.

About Morgan
As the child of two working classical musicians, Morgan Little has been sleeping through rehearsals from a very young age. Born in Los Angeles, Morgan has had the opportunity to live and study cello in cities all across the United States. He started his training at DePaul University in Chicago, and after a short stint in Boston, he continued his studies as a full-tuition scholarship student at the Juilliard School, where he maintained an active role as a chamber and orchestral musician, recently playing principal cellist with Juilliard 415 on tour in Scandinavia under the direction of David Hill, and playing continuo for the Juilliard production of Dido and Aeneas in New York, London, and Versailles under the direction of Avi Stein.

Morgan Little has been teaching and leading sectionals since he was principle of his orchestra at Los An
geles County Highschool for the Arts and continues to have a passion for teaching students of all ages and levels. Every person has a different learning style and Morgan is well schooled in multiple pedagogical styles and has a variety of methods and repertoire at his disposal to meet those demands.

I want to work closely with students to help them develop their own unique pace, methods, and goals that work for them. We’ll work together to not just master their craft, but also find their voice and enjoyment with their instrument.

My goal is to discover what a student wants to learn and their strengths and weaknesses and then cater lessons accordingly.

About Christopher
Flexible teacher combining technical knowledge of classical, jazz, and pop/rock theory, sense of humor, and passion for helping students not just master their craft, but also find their unique voice and enjoyment with their instrument.

No single learning path works for all students, it’s about finding and reinforcing your strengths, and empowering you to solve your own problems. As my old cello teacher used to say, “I’m not teaching you how to play cello, I’m teaching you how to teach yourself how to play cello.” Providing students with the tools and guidance they need to practice and improve: that’s what I strive to do.

I have over 5 years of experience teaching lessons, including teaching seminars on songwriting and music business at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts and Jamestown Community College.

Between 2006 and 2015, I
played over 1,000 shows, both solo and as an auxiliary musician for other touring acts. I performed on over 30 albums and have composed for radio, television, and internet video series. I've been featured in The New York Times, on the CBS Evening News, and on NPR.

About Karl
Dr. Karl is a passionate musician and educator. Growing up on a farm in rural Minnesota, he began singing at a very early age, often serenading his father in the tractor during long days in the field. He soon started piano lessons with his mother and in school began playing French horn and cello. Karl was the member of several orchestras, bands, and choirs until his high school graduation, achieving All-State status in all three disciplines. In college, Karl studied cello performance and business. He went on to earn three advanced degrees in cello performance, culminating with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2016. An active cellist, Karl frequently performs with area symphonies in addition to solo and chamber engagements. He has collaborated with many elite musicians including Joshua
Bell, Nadja Solerno-Sonnenberg, Sergey Antonov, Béla Fleck, Amy Grant, Molly Ringwald, members of the Emerson and Juilliard quartets, and many others. Karl is a dedicated pedagogue, teaching cello students of all ages and abilities to play with purpose and joy. He is also an experienced music theory teacher.

Karl resides in Greensboro, NC with his wife, a violist, and two young children. He enjoys reading and book collecting, traveling , running, baking, and tossing a frisbee.

Good habits and an excellent attitude make great cellists. It doesn't hurt to love music too. I love music and I love to share my passion with my students.

Having a teacher who is an experienced performer is an important quality in a teacher. I am a professional classical musician currently working as a freelance cellist in the Chicago area. I play with Chicago Philharmonic, the Northbrook Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Northwest Indiana Symphony, among others. Before coming to Chicago I played for 13 seasons with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

I have taught privately for over 10 years including 2 years in Paris. My teaching is a reflection of my teacher, Phillippe Muller. I studied with Msr. Muller while studying at the Paris Conservatory. Msr. Muller is currently a Professor of Cello at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

About Wei
Even though I have been teaching and performing on the cello for most of my life, it's not all there is to who I am. I am a chef (almost--12 weeks to go), a mom, a wife. I have a cute little Tibetan Terrier that loves visitors. My husband and I love hiking in beautiful places.

Studying with me will be fun but it will also be challenging. I believe that being able to make music with your own two hands is worth the effort.

One of my favorite things about humanity is how we all learn differently. I aim to cater my teaching to each student to best prepare them as musicians, performers, and possibly future educators. I adhere to the "canon" of cello playing, but spice it up to appeal to each student and keep them passionately in love with their instrument.

About Katrina
A little about me personally: I am a native Wisconsinite, an avid cellist, and lifetime music lover. I have been teaching cello lessons privately off and on for the last 9 years and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire.

In my school years, I participated in the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras, as well as Wisconsin School Music Association’s High School Honors Orchestra, and the Honor’s Performance Series High School Honors Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Throughout those years, I also competed in Solo & Ensemble both regionally and at the state level.

In college, I served as principal cellist in the University Symphony Orchestra, and also played with the department’s premier quartet, the LE Phillips String Quartet. I participated in these ensembles in addition to the Baroque
Ensemble and Contemporary Ensemble, along with other various chamber ensembles and as featured soloist with the Singing Statesmen.

Throughout high school, college, and post-college I have had private students of all ages; elementary, middle, high school, and adult. I also coached sectionals for cello and bass at a local middle school.

My passion is to get kids (and adults!) excited about music and provide one-on-one instruction to students to kindle their love of music and of cello, and spark their curiosity to go deeper into music. So if your student, your child, or you are interested in studying cello privately, let’s get the ball rolling!

Additionally, I have a Grades 2 & 3 Director's license in the state of Wisconsin through my minor in Library Science through the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. I am currently working on a Master of Library and Information Science through the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee with an emphasis in Public Librarianship, and have served on the committee for the Wisconsin Center for the Book to select Wisconsin's 2018 Best Children's Book for the National Book Festival. Additionally I have worked with local libraries in their Summer Reading Programs, promoting literacy and reading. I am passionate about reading and getting kids excited about books and learning!

About Mandy G.

I have been a professional cellist and educator for over ten years. I use my collective experience performing works of the great composers, teaching private lessons, and teaching in the public school classroom to give my cello students everything they could possibly need to succeed. I will take you or your child to the next level in their cello playing by tapping into their creativity and musicality through intensive study of technique, history, and playing and performing.

About Mandy
I am a professional cellist and educator with over 10 years of experience. I received a B.A. in Music (Cello Performance) and M.M. in Music Education from Southern Methodist University, where I studied with soloist Andres Diaz. I currently am located in Asheville, NC, and am performing and teaching all over Western North Carolina and beyond. I regularly perform in orchestras, ensembles, and as a soloist, and have recent experience teaching orchestra for middle and high school in the public school system.

Lessons with me are fun- I aim to be there for every student as not just their teacher, but their mentor as well, so I connect personally with all of my students. The first step in opening yourself up to being vulnerable enough to play music is to have that connection with your teacher. My lessons often end with giggles, and the student
gleefully saying to their parent, "look what I learned today!"

In my lessons, I focus on scales, technique, etudes, and solo pieces. All of my students work with the goal of performing. From an online perspective, it is trickier to set up performances, but I work hard to ensure that every student is able to show off their amazing musical skills to their friends and family. The point of playing music is to express something to an audience, so we focus on this aspect a lot in lessons.

If you have any questions about my teaching style, philosophy, or background, please don't hesitate to contact me! I hope to see you (and hear you!) soon!

Mandy Guilfoyle is a joy! I am an active, amateur cellist and am excited to learn and grow musically as one of Mandy's students. By introducing me to new techniques, methods, and composers she has helped me gain confidence as a musician. Here sunny disposition, enthusiasm, sensitivity to her students' needs, and positive teaching style are some of her many wonderful attributes. I highly recommend Mandy as a teacher for any level, any age student!

I work with cellists of all levels, backgrounds and ages from my private cello studios in Boulder and Denver. Over the past 15 years I have been nurturing the unique musical spark in others and helping guide cellists from all walks of life. At my core I am inspired by a wide range of musical styles and genres and love to explore the interconnectedness in all music. I believe that everybody has the capacity to tap into a deep well of creativity within themselves and discover their own unique musical voice. I love to meet new students and help unlock their creativity and expression. We are living in a new era for cellists all over the world. With the ever expanding repertoire, the limitations of sticking to only one genre or mode of learning has broken down. My years of classical training and study has allowed me to adapt functional cello technique to a broad range of genres and approaches to learning the instrument and restore a sense of freedom that is so vital to the learning process.
