Juan is wonderful and very knowledgeable in music. He is very patient and makes you feel comfortable. I leave a lesson feeling like I am accomplished and relaxed. It nice to see progress in such a little time. I go home with enthusiasm to learn more and want practice to do so.
Chrystine R.
With a patient and intuitive approach, Juan tailors each lesson to fit not only the student’s skill level, but also desire for depth of understanding. When I first began taking lessons, I was only able to plunk a few chords and play along with a few basic songs. However, over the course of a year and a half with Juan, I gained a foundational knowledge of the classical guitar, as well as the confidence to site read and play a range of other styles of guitar music. He seamlessly integrated music theory concepts into song studies, helping me learn major/minor scales and chord shapes, and then apply this knowledge to better understand song structures and composition. It has been such a great experience learning from Juan, especially because he is both an exemplary teacher and guitar player!

Juan is awesome. He makes learning guitar easy and never complicates it .. and makes it fun. He's a great teacher.

About Stephen

Stephen made his operatic debut in the title role of Gluck's Orfeo in Santa Barbara, CA. Other roles performed in the United States have been Oberon in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, the title role in John Eccles' The Judgement of Paris and Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito by Mozart. Among the

For the first time I felt no strain on my vocal cord after a full hour class. Thank you Stephen! The technique practices were incredibly effective, helpful and relevant for me.

Stephen was : patient, understanding and very composed as a teacher.

My 10 year old son has no musical knowledge what-so-ever. We wanted him to have some basics, and he was curious about the guitar. Sadly our family isn't musical and it's hard to know where to start. We were lucky to have engaged Stephen. His calm, patient, encouraging approach has been the perfect complement to my son's temperament.

When I overhear snippets of exchanges during their lesson I am excited that my son is making connections and having a conversation about what he's learning. I can't support his instruction because of my complete inability to read sheet music—so I am particularly pleased that he seems to be making observations and taking small steps towards understanding something that confounds me.

My son looks forward to his time with teacher and (so far) is interested in practicing too. Of course we'd recommend Stephen!

I understand that each person learns differently and has different musical goals. Because of this, I do not teach everyone the same. I do not teach out of any specific book or teaching program. Instead I design lessons around the student and their own personal style and goals. I feel that this creates a more motivating and driven curriculum and makes lessons more enjoyable for myself and my students.

About Andrew

My name is Andrew. I am a private guitar teacher in the Puyallup,WA area. I have been teaching professionally in the area for the past 6 years, and have been playing and studying the guitar since I was 11 years old. Music is my life, and teaching people to play this music on guitar is my passion. M

Andrew is an excellent instructor. He is really knowledgeable in music theory. I took lessons for only a short time but was able to learn so much, because he used my knowledge of piano to help me understand guitar concepts and he focused on the techniques and songs that I was most interested in.

After years of working on my scales and feeling like I still didn't know my way around the guitar, Tom was able to explain how to play scales vertically in both major and minor keys in just one lesson. No one before him had been able to explain it in such a way for it to finally click for me. Since then, I feel like my shredding skills have improved 10 fold and I have fallen even more in love with playing and jamming along to my favorite songs. Tom is patient, kind, calm, and an incredibly skilled guitarist that anyone would be lucky to learn from!

"He was calm and civil in the face of many frustrations and issues, all of them our fault. My daughter's amp broke during the start of the first lesson, she had no electronic tuner ready for the first lesson, her guitar was badly out of tune, and she knew nothing about the fundamentals of music or reading music. It was frustrating; but she got through it and even learned a few things. She will be ready with a new or repaired amp for the next lesson and has been encouraged to practice daily until then. Thank you for being so patient and professional."

"Jesse is WONDERFUL!

We are so happy we found Jesse! My son has been taking trumpet and guitar lessons from him for over a year now. We take lessons in his home and having all the different equipment and instruments has been such a treat. Because of this, Jesse has also introduced my son to bass. Jesse also jumps on the bass, guitar, piano, and drums to accompany the lesson. He has fun with the kids and teaches them music theory at the same time. He also knows when to push and when to encourage their progress. One thing I especially appreciate about Jesse is how flexible he is with scheduling since many children have very busy schedules these days. I've recommended Jesse to two friends and they have enjoyed him too! I will continue to endorse him!"
