I've taught cello for the last 12 years, and try to infuse the same enthusiasm into my students as I experienced in my journey to where I am today. I use both the Suzuki method books and the Applebaum String Builder books to start with beginners, depending on level and experience, with an emphasis on music reading. After that, the student's progress will dictate the best route to follow.

About Benjamin

In my years of teaching, I have developed an individual approach with each student, young or old, according to different needs and learning styles. I believe it is never too early or too late to begin learning, and it is my hope that music making through this instrument will be as enjoyable and pas

While I certainly place emphasis on technical work and mastery, I also want all students to feel comfortable in expressing their individual voice and interests. I believe that it is incredibly important to encourage students to explore a number of creative avenues within music. Therefore, I am very open to having students explore music outside the classical canon in addition to experimenting with improvisation and composition. An additional component of my teaching style is finding unique and interesting ways to keep students motivated and teaching them how to effectively practice and learn on their own.

About Helen

My teaching philosophy is largely centered around the importance of individuality. The “one size fits all” approach is hardly ever adequate--every student has different needs, strengths, and challenges. While I certainly place emphasis on technical work and mastery, I also want all students to feel

I am a passionate, energetic, humorous, patient cello instructor. I have been teaching since 2008. Within these years, I taught the private lesson, group lesson, music theory and studio class of all ages and all levels. One of my ten years old student got the highest score of the Asian-Pacific Region in Grade two cello exam of The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music only after one year learning from me. I have abundant experiences for helping students not only learning music and cello but also enjoying lots of fun from it. I also helped my students for preparing their solo recitals, summer festival auditions, competitions, and performing arts high school auditions. I am sure you will fully in love with the sound you make after learning from me. Let me help you to accomplish your aspirations.

Mark is awesome. He has a uniquely designed and patented method to reach reading music quickly. My daughter learned to read all the violin notes with rapidity in two months. Today he had her play a new piece she never saw before by reading the music. The smile on her face when she realized what she had accomplished was priceless.

He taught them a lot of good techniques to help them play better. Overall, he is really inspiring and my daughters advanced a lot. He always went above and beyond. I can't recommend him enough. "Lukas was incredibly helpful as a teacher because it's clear that he's spent so much time over the last several years thinking about how the cello works and how to constantly be improving as a player. Lukas knows the best exercises to help solve whatever problems you may have as a player, and he has the real-world experience to back it up. I was particularly impressed by his ability to break down exactly what goes into creating a beautiful tone on the cello. He made me see my own technique differently and opened my eyes to aspects of cello playing that I had never thought of before. But most importantly, Lukas is a great teacher because he leads you to your own solutions. He won't just give you the answer to a specific passage of music, he will give you the tools to level up as a player, which you can then apply to anything you play. I would highly recommend taking lessons with Lukas Goodman."

"I’ve taken lessons from Nicholas for about a month now, and he’s a fantastic instructor. As an adult beginner, I appreciate how patient he is and he explains technique/fundamentals in a way I can understan. I definitely feel challenged, and I leave each lesson wanting to practice for the next lesson. He’s also provided a lot of guidance for purchasing a cello and bow. Awesome experience so far."

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
