Lucas is a highly trained and highly gifted cellist and teacher. As someone who has taught alongside him, I can say first hand that he has an incredible ability to connect with students and inspire them to do their best. His love of music is infectious, and he is constantly coming up with new ideas to help his students understand difficult concepts. I cannot recommend Lucas enough as a teacher, cellist and person!

I can help the student practice and learn their way around the cello in an efficient manner. This means that I will be helping with intonation and other technique by giving exercises for the challenging passages. Lessons will be customized according to the goal of the student. Sharing my knowledge in cello and music is a passion and a goal of mine and I would love to help reach your goals.

While a bit humbling Alex definitely helped me fix some glaring technical issues, particularly with the bow.

She helped my 12 year old daughter prepare the Saint Saens Cello concerto (1st movement) for a small performance. My daughter played more spiritedly after her session with Alex. She was especially helpful for a specific bow technique.

Online Cello Teacher

Hello! My name is Emma Cary and I recently completed my sophomore year as a cello performance major at the University of Michigan, where I study with Prof. Richard Aaron. I have been studying the cello for 14 years, and previously taught weekly private cello lessons to kids ages 6-15 for around 3 years during high school. I have plenty of experience teaching beginners, but I am also willing to teach musicians of any level!

I will be available for in-person lessons at the Moore Building on campus since I will be staying in Ann Arbor until mid-June, and I will return in late August. I am also willing to teach online lessons via Skype. I am fully vaccinated, but I still would like to social distance and wear a mask if we decide to meet in person.

I would prefer if you send me an email at ecary@umich.edu to set up a lesson time instead of doing so through this website. TakeLessons charges extra fees, but if we use another payment method, (Zelle, Venmo, etc.) your money won't go to ...

For the past 5 years I have been teaching cello to beginner and intermediate students of all ages. I started playing when I was 15 years old, so my experience learning the fundamentals of playing cello are still fresh in my mind. This gives me an edge in my teaching when introducing the instrument to my students. I am a member of the Lone Star Philharmonic Orchestra and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Cello from Texas State University. I can help you learn not only how to play the cello, but can ensure that you have a strong handle of the basic fundamentals, note reading, and music theory as well!

About Gabriel

Hello! I'm Gabriel and I began to play the cello when I was 15 years old after watching a metal band perform with only cellos and no guitars. As I began to learn the cello and play in orchestra, I grew to love classical music! I went to school at Texas State University and received two bachelors de

Gabriel is one of the best instructors ever. He found really interesting music for my daughters to play. He also gave them history about different composers and other background info. He taught them a lot of good techniques to help them play better. Overall, he is really inspiring and my daughters advanced a lot. He always went above and beyond. I can't recommend him enough. My daughters loved having him as their violin teacher as he helped them grow fond of music while playing their violins.

While Amy was a nice teacher - and this helped my daughter during Covid - as schools were closed - she was absolutely unwilling to cancel a lesson when my daughter was in the ER. I was only able to give a few hours notice because the accident happened that morning. I completely understand cancellation policies, however there's a double standard when the teacher can cancel minutes before with no explanation, but the student who is in the ER can't. This happened literally back to back weeks. I found the whole experience just unkind - and we don't need that energy in our lives. We will find a teacher who has more compassion.

She is patient with my daughter, while still ensuring that she is learning new things.

Amy is such an awesome instructor! She is patient, caring, and kind in her teaching method, and every lesson is a pleasant and instructive experience. I am so glad that I chose to pursue learning the cello, and only wish that I had started sooner.

"Corey is the single biggest reason I stuck with music and was eventually accepted to several notable music conservatories including the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University and Oberlin Conservatory. I began studying with Corey at the age of 9, and he made the entire learning process exciting and engaging. His enthusiasm for music is contagious for students at all levels, and his expertise in guiding his pupils through the extremely complex process of learning a stringed instrument is unparalleled. Corey brings decades of pedagogical and professional experience to each lesson, and is always eager to impart this wisdom on his students. I cannot recommend Corey enough, for students at any level he is the best teacher you will be able to find!"
