I will break down the nuances of learning the acoustic guitar in a friendly, clear, and articulate manner. We will discuss various concepts of the acoustic guitar in the styles and songs you enjoy most.

About Adam
A graduate of the University of Rochester with a B.A. in Music and Psychology and trained at renowned National Guitar Workshop, Adam is an experienced teacher and performer on the guitar, piano, ukulele, and bass in a variety of styles, including rock, pop, jazz, classical, and folk. Adam loves to share his passion for music with others, and ever since his first student, an autistic child, Adam has sought to make learning music fun, regardless of age, style, and ability.

*** Lesson Details ***
My approach to teaching music is strictly an individualized one, catering to the specific interests and goals of each student. I believe that if learning music is truly enjoyable and fun, students will develop a sincere love for their instrument. In teaching children, my emphasis is on instilling in them a love of music. While progressing in mus
ic obviously requires preparation outside of lessons, I consciously avoid asking students to practice. Instead, I incorporate the music and styles that appeal most to the student and use them as vehicles for teaching concepts.

I strive to make learning music fun, regardless of age, style, and ability. I organize an annual recital to showcase my students' talents and hard work.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide all music and instructional materials, and ask that students provide a clean, quiet area to hold our lesson, ideally with a music stand. I also ask that a student provide their own instrument. If providing an instrument is not possible, I ask that the student notify me so I can provide an instrument for them in the interim.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in a wide range of styles on the acoustic and electric guitar, piano, ukulele, and bass.

I explain music theory in a fun, clear, and articulate manner and show its benefits and application in song writing, learning music, and playing by ear. My extensive background in rock, classical, pop, folk, and jazz allows for a truly cater my instruction to my student's tastes.

I make it my mission to structure my lessons on my student's goals and interests and avoid imposing concepts that don't interest my students.

Adam does a great job of adjusting to the student's level of experience. I'm a beginner with some minimal uke experience, and he adjusted the pace of the lesson accordingly. I especially like his emphasis on contemporary music; he seems to have fun with music which, as someone who endured years of strict classical piano training as a kid, I find very refreshing.

Lessons are tailored towards the students goals and abilities. Play with or without a pick, learn popular songs, or write your own.

Over the last 20+ years of teaching guitar, I've found that most of my students want to learn to play popular songs they've heard on the radio (I teach all decades of songs, from 1920's to current hits, and I "take requests").

I can also teach note-reading and music theory (optional- recommended for those who want to major or minor in music in college, and for those who already play another treble-clef instrument).

My goal is to build confidence and make learning fun. I hone in on a students' strengths and weaknesses, build on the strengths and gradually improve the weaknesses.

Acoustic guitar is the most social musical instrument there is! So get started! I promise you will have a non-threatening, relaxed environment to learn in, and go at a pace that is just right for you.

About Carla
Music is my LIFE!

After more than 25 years of teaching at music camps, music stores, 3 colleges and my home, I completely understand that the lessons are all about YOU, the student: what you want to learn, taught to you in a way that works for your brain and personality.

And if you don't know exactly what you want to learn, that's OK. We can figure that out together as we go along learning the basics.

I help students learn to play songs by artists they like.

I also help students write songs, or put chords to their existing lyrics.

For those who are interested, I teach note-reading (not required) and theory (not required) and ear training (not required).

The lessons are always tailored towards your (the student's) goals.

I also teach classical and fingerstyle guitar for the occasional person who specifically wants
either of those styles.

My purpose as a teacher: help people have a fun experience, learning in an organized way, adapted to your learning style and goals, while learning to do exactly what you wanted to do when you decided you wanted to play the guitar.

In 1994, I was let go from my job at a music store because I was sick. Which sounds awful, but was the best thing to ever happen to me- it was then I got over my fears and became a full-time musician, teaching and writing and performing. I have never looked back! I may not be a household name, but I am living the dream.

Whether you want to sing to your kids or play for an audience of 50,000, or just play guitar for yourself, you first have to get started.

Wait no longer! The guitar is calling!

Carla is a fantastic teacher! She keeps the lesson lively and interesting, pushes you along but not too much.
In just the handful of lessons I have had so far my level has jumped further than expected.
Carla has been very helpful with the "tricky-bits" that have caused me issues. Helped to remedy them and move on.
Look no further for a great teacher, better yet I'll keep her to myself.

******KEY FACTS & BENEFITS******

*Some children absorb information better when taught one-on-one. By hiring a tutor, who provides one-on-one instruction, the child can be provided the one-on-one assistance needed to thrive in the traditional classroom.

**Some children do not feel comfortable in the highly structured environment that is the traditional classroom. As a result, these children may struggle with coursework: not because they lack the capacity to grasp the material, but because the learning environment is not appropriate for them. By creating a different learning environment, a more open and flexible environment, these children often thrive academically. A tutor can provide that different learning environment. While they may never be comfortable in a highly structured environment, they will, with the help of a tutor, be given the opportunity to learn their coursework and graduate successfully.

***Some children may be struggling to understand some of their coursework. Teachers in a traditional classroom cannot slow the instruction if one student is lagging, so there may be times when a student feels left behind in the classroom. Hiring a tutor to provide additional instruction and help the child grasp the material in the coursework, can help the student catch up with his/her classmates and successfully pass his/her class.

Remember, Knowledge is Power! Make learning fun and have fun while you are learning. I would love to help you grow as a successful artist and follow your dreams.

"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest." Benjamin Franklin

"The only place SUCCESS comes before work is in the dictionary." Vince Lombardi

My vision and purpose is to inspire people to rock... on stage and in life!
Direct service to you for whatever and/or whenever you need it for, wherever!
Give me a call or e-mail today! I will personally be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Take care-

From strumming simple chords to writing your own songs and beyond - the acoustic guitar is the originator, and I'll teach you the skills you need to explore your own voice on the instrument.

About Ari
I am a guitarist, bassist, writer and composer based in South Brooklyn. With international touring experience, songs licensed to film and television, and a degree from The New School, I have an approach that is both holistic and comprehensive. I am easygoing, adaptable and excited to approach music education from an inclusive angle!

I teach students of all ages, and have given an average of 40 lessons per week in a variety of formats (private, group, after school programs, online). My tastes in music are as varied as my experiences - nothing is off limits and everything has the potential to teach us both something.

I own and operate an independent music collective/label with a focus on thoughtful rock, pop and R&B. We are adept at finding the right team for our artists, and have had success in music and video production, national tourin
g, marketing and branding, and licensing. I'm currently a member of 3 original bands and have continued to do an array of session work on both guitar and bass.

I am endorsed by Lakland basses and am a member of SESAC. I love coffee, chocolate, and like my eggs over medium.

Whether you are an absolute beginner looking to start playing the guitar for fun, or a seasoned veteran trying to dig deeper into understanding the instrument, my teaching and performing experience can propel you to reach any and all of your musical goals! Lessons are designed for the needs of each individual. Beginners will develop the skills to strum through songs within the first couple weeks while intermediate and advanced players will choose the curriculum that they wish to study. I teach all ages and genres of music with a specialization in jazz guitar and theory. Along with guitar lessons students will be given a solid foundation of music theory, note reading, ear training and technique, while also providing the option to be recorded in my home studio. Please message for any questions or to get started!

About Frank
I am a professional guitarist with almost ten years of performing history. I have a bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from West Virginia University.

Before moving to Brooklyn, I was apart of multiple performing and recording acts of a wide array of styles in the Pittsburgh music scene. I was the lead guitarist in three local groups while also doing freelance work with different groups/solo artists. Along with performing for other groups I ran my own jazz quartet for six years, playing independent shows, weddings, and even running our own jam session for four years.

I have had the pleasure to be teaching now for three years, independently running my own studio. I teach students of all ages and skill levels. Each student who comes to me comes with their own individual needs and goals, which is why I develop each lesson plan to cater to
the individual. If you would like to learn to play for your own enjoyment then I can have you strumming through songs in the first couple of weeks. If you see yourself wanting to dig into advanced concepts then we can dive deeper into theory and technique. Regardless of each student, all are given the foundation to find long lasting success and enjoyment.

I teach my students in my comfortable studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn, or travel to the students house if they prefer. I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach all your musical goals!
