Keith is very knowledgeable, patient and methodical. By letting me play a few notes and asking a few questions, he already knew where I should start and had the whole study plan figured out. His lessons are very productive but not in an overwhelming way. After two classes, I actually already feel I've improved significantly. I'm getting more and more comfortable playing to musical notes, which I tried to teach myself several times but all failed. I finally feel I'm on the right track!

We just had our first lesson with Keith. Keith is a wonderful instructor. He is very patient to 6 years old daughter and he tailors the lesson to fit her. He challenges her without making her feel uncomfortable.

My daughter especially likes when Keith makes up accompaniment parts to play along with her songs. She enjoyed her first lesson so much that she kept playing the new tunes she learned and looking them

I can show you the basics of guitar from tuning to your first chords. My speciality is in rhythm as I am a drum player first. Rhythm is so important to playing the guitar. I also have a strong foundation in the chord and scale theory as well as jazz harmony.

I've taken lessons before and have always become disappointed because there was never any structure to the lessons and theory was treated as secondary. I wanted to really delve into theory because that is the knowledge needed to have no limits. Finally, I found Jimmy. He is a true teacher. Jimmy makes sure he teaches you the theory behind what you are doing. I have been playing for over ten years and was not progressing. After just a few lessons with him, I am starting to truly see the fretboard. I am finally excited again!

I'm quite an experienced singer. I've been seen in a cappella groups and bands and solo for many years however recently I've had trouble reaching my higher range and difficulty with falsetto. James has helped me to figure out the issue and I'm working on proper breath support and other issues I was having. My hope is to continue singing for the rest of my life and James has given me proper approach for vocal longevity.

I’m a multi-instrumentalist and teacher specializing in electric and acoustic guitar, and artist development. I spent the early ‘80’s as major- label recording artist, and founded the College Radio- dominating band 4 out of 5 Doctors. My major-venue touring/performing credits include tours with The Clash, The Cars, Hall & Oates, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Pat Travers, UFO, even Screamin' Jay Hawkins, to name a few.

I spent the last three years teaching guitar, bass, and band, at my local music academy. During that time, I was fortunate enough to bring in major-name, platinum-selling artists/producers to mentor my younger students, whom they recognized as exceptional.

Application of my musical skills were honed by major record producers, including Jeff Glixman (Kansas, Black Sabbath, KISS) Alan Winstanley (Bush, Elvis Costello, Morrissey), Bil VornDick (Allison Krauss, Bob Dylan, Ricky Skaggs).

I can teach multiple ways I have the ability to CONSISTENTLY turn average guitar students into great musicians. This goes far beyond merely teaching them to “physically play” their instrument - it requires me to turn them into self-reliant and creative musicians. THAT is the Holy Grail of being a master guitar teacher and is a big part of why I have wonderful success with all my students.

About Scott

Hi, my name is Scott and it's wonderful to meet you. I have been a guitar instructor for many years having great success with all my students. I was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in the suburbs of Old Bridge, NJ, came from an artistically gifted family. I picked up guitar playing in the 6

Scott is a truly gifted musician and teacher. He's taken me from someone who "plays a little" to someone who feels like a real musician. He is challenging, but encouraging, and always makes making music fun. He is also my daughter's teacher (age 12) and because of Scott she really looks forward to lessons and playing. I would wholeheartedly recommend him as a teacher.

I'm a self-taught guitar player who recently plateaued, and realized I couldn't improve without the tailored instruction and personal accountability a quality teacher such as Scott.

Prior to beginning lessons with Scott, my playing could be categorized as nothing short of reckless. I needed an intervention, before The Music Courts wrenched away custody of my beloved instrument for good; we are talking about the well-being of a guitar, after all.

Luckily, a friend gave me Scott’s contact info. I was pleased to find him immediately responsive to my email, and able to accommodate my difficult schedule so we could find a time to meet. The process began with statements of my goals, and a sober evaluation of my current skills. In just six months with him, I see massive improvements in myself, and enjoy playing in ways I never have before.

I would categorize Scott as professional, technically masterful, humorous, kind, and rigorous in his instruction. Scott's love and respect for his craft is abundant, and inspires me.

I love acoustic guitar! You will learn to strum and sing, fingerpick, write songs, play your favorite songs, solo, and improvise. As you progress you'll learn songs by your favorite artists and maybe you'll enjoy some of my favorite acoustic guitarists like Andy McKee, The Tallest Man on Earth, Bob Dylan, or John Mayer.

Matt was the first guitar instructor I've had that has actually taught me enough to perform! I came into his instruction learning only a couple songs by heart, and in a few months I was able to pick up on common chord progressions in popular songs and learn them so quickly. My goal was to be able to play open mic nights at my local college bar, and Matt showed me the tricks to sing and play guitar at the same time. His studio is so welcoming, lots of natural light, and easy to play a guitar in. It was nice that his wife was around sometimes during the class (made me feel more comfortable). Awesome teacher!

Matt is such a great teacher! I went into guitar lessons just hoping to be able to learn to play a few songs, but I've been taking lessons for months now. His studio is super cool and it's fun to jam out and learn songs, plus Matt is helping me work on my own songwriting.

"David is a former student of mine at the COnservatory of Music at Purchase College. I picked the first category since every one of them fits David. At college, David majored in studio composition, a commercial writing major. So he brings a thorough understanding of musical structure. He knows how what you are playing works, and he uses it to help you achieve a greater understanding of music. I thoroughly recommend this dedicated teacher."

"I have been taking lessons with Jimmy for 3 months now and have learned so much in that time. I was excited to learn the acoustic guitar, but a bit nervous since I have never taken any type of musical lesson or have ever had any success with learning an instrument. Jimmy's patience and fun personality put me at ease right away. I am an elementary teacher of over 20 years, so I could tell that I had made the right choice in coming to Jimmy for lessons. Jimmy takes the time to teach music theory, which I appreciate, and answers any questions that have. He is a very dedicated musician whose experience and knowledge become apparent as he teaches his students, and when you view his studio. He is very reliable, always getting back to me quickly when I correspond with him. If I have had to change lesson days due to weather or family commitments, he is always understanding and flexible. I highly recommend him to other perspective students and look forward to growing as a musician with him as my teacher!"

The Do's And Don'ts Of Buying The Best Beginner Acoustic Guitar
