This is your chance to build effective fundamental skills and improve your technique, theory, and improvisation in Pop, Rock, Country, Folk, R&B, Soul, and other genres!

About Adam
Learn to play your favorite songs, sing while playing, or even write your own songs!

I have been passionate about music all of my life. I have been teaching guitar and piano for 10 years. I'm a doctoral student at Chestnut Hill College pursuing a degree in clinical psychology with plans to become a music therapist. I learned guitar and classical piano under 2 private teachers while pursuing my Psychology degree and music minor at Rutgers University in NJ.

Music was a way for me to find peace, structure, confidence, and an outlet for personal expression and creativity outside of my everyday life. I've grown as a person and a musician through music. I get excited when I see my students learn enjoy playing something new. I love music more than anything else and that love is something I try to bring out in my students. Once there is l
ove for music, everything grows naturally. I teach to help my students find those strengths in themselves to live a fulfilling life through their instrument.

***Lesson Details***

We create daily, weekly, and monthly goals for you to achieve.

Adam’s superpowers as a guitar teacher are commitment and a calm demeanor. It was clear from my first lesson that Adam was singularly dedicated to my advancement even at times when my dedication wavered. I was able to successfully learn a Death Can for Cutie song that I had loved for years (I will follow you into the dark). Though i had taken lessons in the past, i felt i had the most chemistry with Adam’s thoughtful approach to teaching guitar. Our lessons were fun and laced with lighthearted humor. I moved to NYC and Adam was 100% committed to ensuring our lessons continued via Skype. Unfortunately the move was a big life change that refocused my priorities. I wish that Adam lived in NY so we could continue playing together!

Lessons are tailored towards the students goals and abilities. Play with or without a pick, learn popular songs, or write your own.

Over the last 25+ years of teaching guitar, I've found that most of my students want to learn to play popular songs they've heard on the radio (I teach all decades of songs, from 1920's to current hits, and I "take requests").

I can also teach note-reading and music theory (optional- recommended for those who want to major or minor in music in college, and for those who already play another treble-clef instrument).

My goal is to build confidence and make learning fun. I hone in on a students' strengths and weaknesses, build on the strengths and gradually improve the weaknesses.

Acoustic guitar is the most social musical instrument there is! So get started! I promise you will have a non-threatening, relaxed environment to learn in, and go at a pace that is just right for you.

About Carla
Music is my LIFE!

After more than 25 years of teaching at music camps, music stores, 3 colleges and my home, I completely understand that the lessons are all about YOU, the student: what you want to learn, taught to you in a way that works for your brain and personality.

And if you don't know exactly what you want to learn, that's OK. We can figure that out together as we go along learning the basics.

I help students learn to play songs by artists they like.

I also help students write songs, or put chords to their existing lyrics.

For those who are interested, I teach note-reading (not required) and theory (not required) and ear training (not required).

The lessons are always tailored towards your (the student's) goals.

I also teach classical and fingerstyle guitar for the occasional person who specifically wants
either of those styles.

My purpose as a teacher: help people have a fun experience, learning in an organized way, adapted to your learning style and goals, while learning to do exactly what you wanted to do when you decided you wanted to play the guitar.

In 1994, I was let go from my job at a music store because I was sick. Which sounds awful, but was the best thing to ever happen to me- it was then I got over my fears and became a full-time musician, teaching and writing and performing. I have never looked back! I may not be a household name, but I am living the dream.

Whether you want to sing to your kids or play for an audience of 50,000, or just play guitar for yourself, you first have to get started.

Wait no longer! The guitar is calling!

We will play whatever songs the student would like to learn! I use the Hal Leonard guitar method book to give a good foundation to the students and a solid understanding of the fundamentals. I encourage students to pick songs that they hear on the radio or anywhere else that they enjoy and bring them to me for lessons so we can learn them together.

About Matt
I attended West Chester University from 2011-2015 and graduated with my bachleor's in music education. I performed in the marching band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, jazz ensembles, various trumpet ensembles, and a brass quintet. One of my trumpet ensembles made it to the semifinals in the National Trumpet Competition. I backed up various world famous trumpet artists during the International Trumpet Guild Conference at Valley Forge in 2014 such as Bobby Shew, Randy Brecker, Tine Thing Helseth, Canadian Brass, and many others. I took lessons from Robert Skoniczin and Jean Christophe Dobrzelewski during my time at WCU.

I can teach any style that you are interested in and can take students of all ages. I believe it is important to have a good musical foundation so we will go over music theory as well in lessons. I have extensive experie
nce teaching trumpet, guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, and saxophone. We will play whichever style of music you prefer. Lessons will be fun!

Piano lessons with Play By Ear Music Lessons are different than traditional lessons. I teach music theory, which is all about chords, musical scales, patterns, and playing quickly and easily after only hearing a song. You don’t have to learn how to read music in order to be a great player.

You’ll learn how to properly hold a guitar, finger patterns, how to form chords so that it’s easy on your hands, and how to work your way around the fretboard.

The theory I will teach you will help you play any song quickly and easily without having to learn the theory of each song separately.

Discount packages available.

About Jennifer
I have been teaching music privately since 2004.

I teach music theory, not music reading. This training will teach you to play by ear without having to read music if you don’t want to. This means being able to sit down and play after hearing a song. As long as we've heard the song and know how it sounds, we can learn how to quickly and easily play it.

Music theory is about patterns, chords, variations of chords, and order of chords. It can be applied to any song so the more we play the easier new songs become!

As an adult, I came to him as a complete novice, and since day one Noah has been very patient and encouraging- balancing music theory with songs that interest me. He's been willing to adapt to my needs in order to accommodate my goals and expectations. A few months later, I can confidently say that I've exceeded all of my goals, and constantly advancing past what I thought I was capable of.

I've only had my first lesson, and I'm a complete novice with the guitar (I'm an adult with some limited musical background). Noah asked me about my goals and musical interests so he could tailor the class to meet my needs. He taught me how to tune the guitar before getting into chords, finger placement, strumming technique, and reading the tabs. Throughout the class, he was incredibly patient, encouraging, and explained everything very clearly without over-complicating the topics. He gave me written "homework" to practice (which I now understand how to read!!). I'm really psyched for my next lesson and pleased that I chose Noah for my instructor.

Noah is by far the best teacher I've ever come across! Here's my story:

I was accepted into the Berklee College of Music as a Vocal Performance Major. However, my knowledge of theory, arranging, and harmony was nothing close to where it needed to be to succeed in my first semester. I ended my first semester with a 1.9 GPA. For the next semester, I was put on academic probation and was required to meet with a Berklee peer tutor once a week. This is where I met Noah. He was my peer tutor. Within our first session alone, I was immediately relieved that there was SOMEONE out that cared enough to take the time to really teach me everything that I needed to learn about theory, harmony, and arranging. He was extremely patient and kind. Where most students who were in my predicament dreaded to meet with their peer tutors weekly, I looked forward to meeting with Noah. In fact, I called the head of the tutoring department and asked if I could meet with Noah twice a week instead of once a week! Noah didn't hesitate, but instead agreed and we met twice a week! We even met for tutoring sessions when it wasn't required! He literally saved my second semester! I went from completely failing tests two getting A+ on all of my exams! At the end of that semester, I went from a 1.9 GPA to a 3.0 GPA!

Not only is Noah just amazing at everything theory, harmony, and arranging, composing, etc. and an amazing teacher that actually cares about his students, he's also an amazing musician! A multi-instrumentalist at that! I've had the pleasure of seeing him play multiple instruments in multiple styles and genres and he's by far the best musician I've ever come across. I would recommend him to anyone! Really! I'm not just saying this! If there is anyone you should be talking to or learning from in regards to all things music, Noah is the guy to go to!

THANK YOU NOAH!!!

I have been exploring music since 5th grade, and exploring strings(guitar andukulele) for around 14 years. I am more interested in music as a means for personal growth and exploration rather than getting stuck on the technicalities of traditional music .. although music theory is extremely fascinating to me!

As a adult with ADHD, traditional music progress has always been a struggle - short attention and difficulty focusing in long-lengths. Despite this .. learning to make music for myself that both captures my creativity and curiosity, instead of what others wanted to hear has opened up a new appreciation and respect for myself. When dealing with ADHD or other emotional issues is significant boon.

Music is a wonderful tool for moving our emotions out of the hidden spaces within ourselves. As a teacher I am more concerned with helping my students realize the importance and impact of their progress in relation to themselves, rather than the merit of their progress in relation to ...

About Jace
My strongest attributes as a student, a teacher, a friend, and human is my ability to interact with those around me with patience and curiosity.

I approach everything I do with curiosity, because I believe that is when we reveal our selves- the meaning of life is not a question that is asked to us, but rather asked by us.

Why such an emphasis on curiosity?!?! As an adult with ADHD(incessant curiousity) I am working on constantly growing, and I am interested in helping others who struggle with similar issues grow despite the limitations they may perceive as impassable.

When we learn to view our circumstances as an opportunity to explore the world in the unique and novel way- there is a liberation from expectation that allows us to appreciate ourselves in a gentler and more kind way.

When we learn to accept and our shortcomings desig
n our world around those rather than pretend they aren't there- we gain the unique position of combining compassion and creativity.

I look forward to learning and exploring together!

Want to play your favorite songs? Want to write your own? While focusing primarily on technique and theory, we'll also spend at least part of each lesson being creative together, whether improvising, or writing something, or just playing a game, because I believe that to be a well-rounded musician is to know how to communicate one's own ideas fluently. We'll also explore a variety of styles, including rock, country, pop, folk, and jazz, and we will learn songs both using a pick and using the fingers. I can also teach students to actually read music and not just tablature, if they're interested in exploring jazz and classical music. Message me today to see if we'd be a good match!

About Kyle
I am a professional violinist, violist, guitarist, pianist, and educator. In addition to recording and touring with my own bands, I regularly arrange and record strings for artists and producers in a wide range of styles, from underground rappers to indie rock bands to grammy winning pop producers. I studied classical viola and composition at Temple University's Boyer School of Music, and have also studied at the Montreal Conservatory and IRCAM in Paris. I currently teach about 35 students a week ranging in ability from beginner to advanced, and ranging in age from 4 to 64. My versatility, experience, and formal training ensure a fun and engaging learning experience, catered towards what YOU want to learn (with some suggestion/encouragement from me of course).

I've studied classical viola for 13 years, with some training in bluegrass an
d old-time too. I've also received training in jazz and rock guitar, and have been trained in the Taubman Method on piano, allowing me to teach my students to play with confidence and ease, without fear of injury later on.

Students can expect to receive top notch training in technique and theory. All students will also receive training in improvisation in a variety of styles, so that they can not only play and understand other people's music, but create their own too. Students interesting in writing/recording will also have the opportunity to write and record a song with me, and learn all my best tips and tricks along the way!

Some styles I regularly give lessons in: Rock,Classical, Jazz, Pop, Bluegrass, Folk, Country, Punk, Indie Rock, and Blues.
