My teaching goal is to bring joy to each student, and I want my student always to feel motivated to learn. Hello to each of you! My name is Corey, and I have been teaching cello for 31 years. Like many of you I've been locked up in my home because of Covid19. What fun! Not really... but I have been enjoying teaching 24 of my current private students. Additionally, I have been teaching music at a Waldorf School in Portland Oregon for 22 years. My work at the school has decreased because of the crisis and now I've been moved to 1/2 time. I'm so excited to expand my teaching studio, and have the opportunity to meet you. I teach beginning through advanced students. My degree is BM in cello performance from Portland State University 1993, and I have studied (and/or had master classes) with Stephanie McDougal, Hamilton Cheifetz, Yo Yo Ma, Hans Jurgen Jensen, and Carter Brey. I attended Tanglewood Institute in 1987, and Congress of Strings in 1988 both on a full scholarship. My lessons are both fun, educational, and I work diligently toward teaching great technique in both the right and left ...

I have been teaching cello to students of all ages for over six years. I aim to tailor my teaching plans to each student’s unique goals and learning habits. I structure my lessons so that students learn and play what they enjoy, while also building a strong foundation of fundamental cello technique.

Three years of working with multiple orchestras and youth summer camps have prepared me to teach students of all ages and experience levels. My lessons involve teaching extensive topics beyond cello fundamentals like aural skills and music theory. Incorporating these aspects of musicianship will reinforce your progression of playing the cello.

With 5 years of teaching experience, Emily is excited to start cello lessons with you! She has performed for dozens of venues across 8 countries and 3 continents. Emily received 12 years of formalized training including 4 years of specialized instruction of the Alexander Technique at The Master's University. Consequently, she brings a comprehensive approach to cello instruction, utilizing knowledge of muscle and joint function to her teaching. Aside from using her talents weekly in a contemporary band setting, she also enjoys ensemble work in other capacities. She has performed in a commercial for the Porsche Panamera, a short film for EMD films, has recorded at Capital Records, and has had the pleasure of being the featured musician at various weddings, business functions, and private events. Emily hopes to not only train up talented musicians, but to also encourage responsibility, perseverance, and enjoyment through music!

Hello! My name is Rochelle L. and I am a Boston University graduate with a degree in Cello Performance. I have been teaching cello for almost 9 years and it is something I truly enjoy doing!

I strive to give my students a solid foundation that they can rely on, regardless of whether or not they wish to pursue a career in music or not. I am fortunate enough to have studied with incredible cellists and musicians and I am eager to share what they have taught me.
