I have played guitar for almost 30 years and I've done concerts, performances and lectures in different states and also internationally. My biggest influences are Paco de Lucia and Tommy Emmanuel and I enjoy teaching guitar to any levels, ages and styles. My goal is to make sure my student will enjoy guitar lessons not matter how long it takes.
I am also the current guitar professor at Union College, Music Art Ambassador for Nebraska Arts Council, Guest teaching artist for John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and Teaching Artist in Residence for The Lied Center.
I love sharing my knowledge and experience with my students. I like to see the progress of my students and how they grow into their music skills no matter the age.

I offer Intermediate and Advanced Guitar Lessons for electric, acoustic, and bass guitar. I have over 20 years playing and songwriting experience, including live shows, recordings, and tours; I've been lead guitarist for the metal band Locusta since 2006. I've been teaching guitar for 14 years and have had thousands of hours of teaching experience in that time.
Lessons are available on advanced topics such as music theory, songwriting, lead guitar technique, sweep picking, and classical guitar (i.e. Bach/Spanish guitar), as well as non-guitar specific subjects like home and studio recording, ear training, rhythm, and drum programming (no drum experience necessary). Personalized lessons are offered as well as structured 4 to 8 week courses on specific subjects.
I mainly specialize in rock and metal but enjoy listening to and teaching classical, jazz, (old)country, blues, funk, or almost any other kind of music. I play in a death metal band and my favorite guitar players range ...

I always I find myself coming to Randy To further advance my playing because he explains the process to create the sound I want as simple as possible and we are able to get results quickly.
He is definitely someone who cares about making his students the best they can be in something they love!"

I purchased my first guitar about three months before starting lessons with David. I tried self-study through several books and quickly realized that I needed to find an instructor if I was serious about learning. I was hesitant about trying lessons online but quickly realized that there is almost no difference between face to face and online lessons. David can clearly see and hear what Iâm playing. The commute downstairs to my computer is also an advantage.
I have several friends who play at various levels and I questioned them about how they learned. Most of them who didnât take music in school (high school or college) donât read music and rely on TAB. After eight months of lessons I have a solid foundation on sight reading, bar cords, theory, and understanding the relationships of the notes and cords on the fret board. Iâm able to pick out a song from a songbook and I have the tools to start learning the song myself. This is due to learning the fundamentals correctly the first timeâ¦
My experience learning with David has been very good. He keeps me motivated, Iâm learning songs that I enjoy, and I have an expert leading me in, what I feel is, a good direction. Of course I need to do my part and practice, but thatâs part of the funâ¦right?"

Kevin is a very knowledgeable, dedicated, patient, flexible, and professional instructor. He is very observant about when to push me to practice more and when to just allow me space to absorb what I've just been taught. And occasionally when I get a little frustrated with my guitar and progress is particularly slow for me we sometimes switch to vocal coaching.
Plus I have an incredibly busy work schedule and Kevin has always been very willing to adjust my lesson time as necessary."

Last week, TakeLessons teacher Kevin B. showed us how to play 5 easy guitar chords that allow you to play tons of easy songs. Have you been practicing? Just as pianists should learn the theory behind scales, beginner guitar players should review individual chords to ensure a well-rounded foundation. After all, chords are the basis of guitar playing, so the more you know, the easier time you'll have learning songs. Instead of just memorizing each chord, go the extra mile to really unders …
