My 16 year old daughter has been taking lessons from Alex for two years. He's a very accomplished cellist with a strong background in all areas of playing the cello. He has been very patient with my daughter. He makes the lessons fun. Her skill level has steadily improved and can be directly attributed to lessons with Alex. Most importantly, he has helped her gain more confidence in her playing! I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to become a better cellist!

Aaron teaches piano to my 8 year old daughter, Abby. She is shy but loves piano and she very much looks forward to his visits! He customizes her lessons to her skill level and interests. No question he is a serious musician, but he is also laid back and funny which is perfect for young kids as it puts them at ease. Abby is thriving under Aaron's instruction, I'm so glad we found him!

Hi! I'm a professional cellist, and cello teacher. I've been teaching cello to kids and adults of all levels for 25 years. I love helping kids and adults find their musical selves! I work hard with people to improve rhythm, note reading, and the technical aspects of playing the cello.

Although English by birth, I grew up mostly in Houston, TX, and attended The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and then Eastman Conservatory. I started my professional career in the Orquesta Sinfonica de Sevilla (Spain) and then moved to London to pursue a freelance career. I played with many of London’s finest orchestras, such as the Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony, BBC Concert Orchestra, to name a few. In addition to strictly classical playing, I also played with rock bands, solo artists, such as Gwen Stefani, Josh Groban and The Three Tenors, and even toured with some of them. After eight years, I returned to Houston and quickly found work with the Houston ...

I'm very impressed by how Mr. Oshagan can get an almost 3 year old to learn a technique simply by playing a game. He truly understands that children learn best by play. He is able to successfully break down a concept, by playing a game that results in the technique he's teaching, getting my child to focus and engage. My now 3 year old loves and respects Mr. Oshagan, and is very excited when it comes time for his cello lesson. Mr. Oshagan is also a wealth of information. He teaches the parent how to teach the student, so that practice times are as stress free as possible, but effective and productive.
I was specifically looking for a teacher that specialized in teaching cello to small children, and I am so happy we found Mr. Oshagan.

Oshagan is an Amazing instructor, patient, and makes my child feel rewarded with his accolades!

I found Oshagan through Suzuki Association website. My 3 year old has been fascinated with cellos and was happy to learn Oshagan is trained to work with little ones. I don’t have a music background but he makes me feel like I’m competent to be my son’s instructor (at this stage). The teacher-parent-child relationship is one that he emphasizes which I love. He’s very responsive, easy to talk to, encouraging, flexible & professional.

"Johnny is an excellent, well-rounded teacher. The lesson I took with him was packed full of superb teaching points; such as bowing exercises to help with bowing complexities, helpful fingerings for awkward passages within a composition of music, and terrific rhythmical suggestions to help with complex rhythms in a passage of music. I highly recommend him for any cellist; whether they're first starting out or they are just looking for someone who needs an ear for an audition and needs some advice!"

"Lenna is out of this world! When I first undertook, as an adult beginner, to learn the cello, I often found myself frustrated by the challenge. Lenna changed the way I approach my studies. She taught me to FEEL music, to find the beauty in slowing down and repeating, to have patience with my practice and to appreciate my progress. She has improved my rhythm, vibrato, sound quality, knowledge of music theory and more. She is always gentle and supportive during our lessons and approaches learning with a humility I only wish I could have. She likes to end lessons by guiding her students through a few minutes of improv, which I deeply enjoy. A talented cellist (and musician generally); a wonderful instructor; and a kind, supportive, optimistic personality. I love working with Lenna and strongly recommend her."

"Anna Cho has taught our son for the last three years. Under her guidance, he has become a beautiful, confident, and disciplined cellist. Her direct, rigorous approach challenges her students to rise to their very best. This commitment to excellent translates from music into everything else in life. All of this is done with extraordinary dedication to the individual student. Through Anna, he has also had the chance to participate in special instruction with an acclaimed visiting cellist. She has provided opportunities to open our hearts through regular student performances at a nursing home. Our entire family is inspired and proud to attend Anna's performances with the San Diego Symphony. Anna has been a steady and critical element in our child's life. Her positive impact is immeasurable."

"I originally learned how to play the cello on my own in my school's orchestra. When I went to college and decided to bring my cello with me, I knew it was time to take proper lessons like everyone else. Brenda was able to help me iron out all of the bad habits I had developed over seven years of playing cello with no formal corrections. She clearly cared about me and my interests as a student. I can confidently say Brenda equipped me with the tools, techniques, and attitude I needed to play the cello for the rest of my life."

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
