I’ve been taking lessons from Kevin for about 2 months. Before that I’d been kind of aimlessly playing around with guitar. I was playing by myself for about 20 years and basically had no timing and rhythm. I’m not a funk master yet but Kevin has given me tools that have greatly improved my timing and for the first time actually believing that I’m going to do this. Thanks

I started taking lessons with Kevin about a month ago I took lessons when I was a kid, and remember some things, but my hands do not yet so what my head is telling them. Kevin has been great, adjusting to what I already know and adding a lot of music theory, which I never had learned before. Highly recommend Kevin.

I started learning Ukulele with Kevin and then picked up Guitar lately, Kevin has a systematic way of teaching, instead of covering each and every chords, he summarizes them by different shapes, and also their variations, so you can memorize the basics and find their "relative" chords easier. He also taught music theories, how each chord is formed, and if you want to play a specific song, he's also glad to help on finding the exact chord and transfer them into different notes that suits you. Definitely have your notebook ready since there's a lot to learn. The harder thing for myself is with the online class, it's not as efficient as a face-to-face one, I also tend to be less motivated to practise but you ought to just find your own motivation!

Guitar is my main squeeze. I love to help people enjoy the instrument as much as I do. learn to shred a rock solo, fingerpick a folk song, or transcribe miles davis. learn to play what you hear on records without resorting to you tube instructional videos (wink). or if you are already an accomplished musician, enhance your ability to employ techniques like chord weaving on the guitar, craft better solos, write more sophisticated chord progressions, etc

Mrs. Esther is a really kind, patient, and honest piano teacher. She helped me work through my mistakes and told me what I needed to work on in order to improve. Her way of teaching is effective and it helped me gain more knowledge about piano and the techniques of being a good pianist. She is very caring and understands when I'm in a difficult situation and she always encourages me to keep going. I enjoyed all the experiences I had with Mrs. Esther and the unique personality she had. For the past 9 years, I have learned a lot about music and the hard work that goes into playing the piano. I will never regret having Mrs. Esther as my piano teacher and the adventures I had.

Mrs. Esther has taught me piano over the past 9 years. Over those years, I was able to learn a lot about the innerworkings of the piano, both theory and playing. Mrs. Esther carefully taught me piano with both elegance and patience and created wonderful experiences through the community concerts that she holds. Her kindness reached me in times where I was overburdened with both the study of piano and my schoolwork. The 9 years of piano that I spent with her have been very rewarding and an experience that I will continue to cherish as I continue pianoing.

Playing Electric Guitar with Online Lessons

If you listen to any type of music, it’s likely that you’ve heard plenty of electric guitar in your day. The electric guitar is used in a wide variety of musical genres and is particularly at the forefront of rock, indie rock, and alternative music. Additionally, many funk, blues, and jazz bands heavily utilize the electric guitar and its signature sound.

The very first electric guitar was an acoustic guitar with an electric pickup built into the instrument’s body. It was invented by renowned jazz guitarist Charlie Christian in 1936 with the intention of being able to play audible solos over his loud band; little did he know that his invention would change the scope of music in a major way.

The invention of electrification for guitars brought about the development of the first solid-body guitars, as all acoustic guitars are hollow-bodied by nature in order to project their sound. Solid-bodied electric guitars are made from a single slab of wood and the first businessman to put one on the market was Leo Fender, whose last name may ring a bell if you are familiar with popular guitar manufacturers.

The electric guitar market experienced a significant boom shortly after the instrument’s creation in the 1950s, and it’s no coincidence that modern rock ‘n’ roll was also born around this time. The instrument improved not only in construction but also in quality, as the manufacturers of early models had had trouble with the guitars creating loud feedback noise when plugged in.

Today, the electric guitar is as prevalent in modern music and popular culture as it’s ever been. The manufacturing company Fender Guitars as well as other major companies like Gibson Guitars and Breedlove Guitars continue to release new state-of-the-art models each year with distinct features, unique colors, and custom finishes.

Electric Guitar for the Guitarist: Should I Upgrade from Acoustic?

Playing electric guitar is an experience that many musicians describe as unforgettable. The sheer power of the sound that electric guitars are able to make when plugged into high-quality amplification can be exciting to the point of being overwhelming, which is exactly why this instrument took the world by storm in the 1950s. However, maybe you’re already well-versed in playing guitar but have typically stuck to acoustic models.

Between playing electric guitar and acoustic guitar, there is no clear winner in terms of experience, playability, and sound quality. Each type of guitar offers a unique set of benefits and drawbacks, and the quality of the guitar’s construction as well as the quality of amplifiers available to you will make huge differences in the sound you’re able to produce. However, our team at TakeLessons highly recommends that acoustic players give playing electric guitar a try in order to gain new experiences and skills.

If your main goal with your guitar playing is to be able to cover songs from any genre and even write your own music in your own unique style, it may not matter much to you whether you play an electric or an acoustic. However, if your goal is to be able to authentically play heavier styles like rock or metal or even more distinct styles like funk or jazz, you may find your practice to be unfulfilling if you choose an acoustic instrument over an electric one.

Luckily, playing electric guitar or taking electric guitar lessons doesn’t mean you have to give up acoustic guitar for good. The two types are structured the exact same way in terms of strings and frets, so you can easily transfer your learned skills from acoustic guitars to electric and vice versa. Plus, even if you prefer the sound of playing electric guitar, there will likely come a time that the song you want to learn or write sounds better with an acoustic feel.

Why You Should Invest in Electric Guitar Lessons

Taking electric guitar lessons is one of the best decisions you can make for yourself if you want to become more musically inclined or you’re already a musician who wants to expand their skillset. Much like the piano or singing, electric guitar is a mainstay in popular music that can be used to cover just about any song or genre. Plus, if you dabble in songwriting, playing electric guitar gives you a helpful tool to express your feelings and musical ideas in a clear and concise way.

Electric guitar is also surprisingly versatile. Many people who aren’t familiar with the instrument think that all you do is plug the guitar into an amp and you’re good to go. However, electric guitar players can buy a wide variety of effect pedals, different types of strings, and distinctive amplifiers to completely customize their sound and make it unique to them. If you don’t know how to get started with customizing your electric guitar playing, your online teacher can help point you in the right direction based on your distinct tastes.

Due to its versatility, playing electric guitar can open all sorts of doors for you as a musician. Though electric guitar is at the forefront of genres like rock and alternative, it can blend seamlessly into so many other genres as well, allowing you to collaborate with all types of artists from different backgrounds. Once you’ve gotten your chops up through regular practice and consistent online lessons, you’ll be able to play along with just about anything and anyone.

Finding Electric Guitar Lessons Online

If you feel slightly overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices on TakeLessons, don’t worry—you’re not alone. It can be difficult for potential students to search through our many candidates in order to find the teacher they connect with the best. However, one way to make your search much quicker and easier is to use our customizable search function.

One of the easiest ways to quickly narrow down your search for electric guitar lessons online is to enter some basic information into the search feature. Decide how much you are willing to pay for weekly lessons, how long you’d like your lessons to be, and what day or time works best each week in order to remain consistent. Once you’ve entered these details, your pool of available teachers will be much more manageable.

You can also specify whether or not you prefer a teacher that speaks Spanish in addition to English and whether you feel that you fall into the beginner, intermediate, or advanced category of students. Additionally, each teacher has written a short bio about their own musical history and training, which can be found on their personalized profile.

Choose an Electric Guitar Teacher that Suits Your Needs

In addition to finding a teacher that is available at the same time that you are and is experienced at teaching your ability level, it’s important to choose a teacher that you connect with on a personal level. Oftentimes, music teachers can become a type of mentor to their students, and you’ll find that it will be difficult to maintain a high level of success at your instrument if you don’t particularly like your teacher.

Typically, reading a teacher’s bio on our site can give you a pretty good idea of their personality, their sense of humor, and their teaching style. However, if you want to get a better look at the experiences of a teacher’s students, you can read their reviews, which are also available on their personalized profile.

These reviews are written by current students as well as past students, and reading them will help you to understand what it’s like working with a certain teacher and whether or not their lesson format or teaching style is right for you and your needs. If you still have questions for a specific teacher, you can send them a quick message through our site before signing up for electric guitar lessons. By communicating with them directly, you’ll be able to clearly gauge whether or not they’re a good fit for you.

He not only teaches them a great foundation in guitar he also teaches them whatever songs interest them. Since retiring in 2006 I tried a few others but David brings expertise in not only guitar mechanics and virtuosity but an understanding of deeper musical principles and its application to the guitar student.

Dave is a true genius in the art of Guitar, no matter the musical genre - or -whether its Led Zepplin or Brouwer classical guitar method.he can't be beat.
