I purchased 5 lessons for my better half to see if she'd like the instructor. Went for our first meeting during a snowstorm and he was very nice but spent way too much time talking about non guitar related stuff and conversated with me as much as my better half. In any case there were some scheduling issues due to him going to China and later saying he could not do Saturdays all the time which was fine. We scheduled some more sessions. TakeLessons policy for cancellations is 24 hours and that's what he told us while we were there. This cancellation policy was also reflected as 24 hours on his page on TakeLessons. After speaking with a TakeLessons representative (Michael), according to the rep, Kelvin was supposed to have us sign a 48 hour cancellation policy and he never did. As a matter of fact during our first session he said the cancellation was 24 hours himself. Due to another situation we cancelled our next session within the 24 hour cancellation window. We were charged for it and told by him that his cancellation policy was 48 hours and that he had told us this in advance. This was false. I'm disappointed with both Kelvin (who I might add may truly believe that he informed us of his personal policy) and TakeLessons. TakeLessons representative Michael called me and left a message stating that he spoke to Kelvin and because Kelvin said we were informed of the 48 hour policy that they could not do anything about it. Not sure why it's worth lying over $40 but I figure he truly believes that he told us of his policies but he did not. What is more disappointing is that the TakeLessons rep Michael told me that Kelvin made clients sign the 48 hour cancellation policy as a requirement and he never did. Hence he has no record of one. You would think this would automatically be a clear indication that something was not right but they just chose to take his word for it over ours. In any case, buyer beware of dishonestly by Kelvin and operational ineptitude by TakeLessons to implement systems in place to make sure the buyer is protected as well.

I was very excited to be taking lessons, I played when I was a little girl, & my husband knew this & bought me a violin for Christmas so I could play again... but I was nervous if I would be able to learn since I'm not young! Mr Lin is a great teacher, he is very patient, & made me feel very comfortable... and I'm teachable! Yeah! I did good... I'm going to keep practicing, and can't wait for my next lesson!

Amanda is a perfect fit for my online harp instruction. I have a very busy schedule and she is able to help me make the most of my practice and lesson times. She is an excellent and very flexible teacher, working with you to achieve your goals for the instrument - classical or improvisational, or both. I am looking forward to learning more about the therapeutic application of the harp in my field of integrative medicine.

I was very impressed with Debora as a ballet instructor. She was very professional, and extremely gracious when I ran late to our first lesson on account of traffic and directions. She is very experienced and models correct form with incredible confidence and know-how. Debora was very patient, as I am a beginner, and I'm verygrateful for her willingness to teach. I highly recommend her as an instructor and admire her as a lovely person both inside and out.

This was my first attempt at Watercolor. Monika was very knowledgeable, helpful and personable. I only planned to take two classes and by my 2nd class I was able to see a big improvement in my work... no more signs of my previous acrylic painting style-which was hard to shake. Thanks Monika I thoroughly enjoy my classes.

I signed up for 5 Spanish lessons prior to my trip to Argentina. I wanted a crash course and I walked into my first session not knowing a word. Kick was very accommodating and tailored the lessons to suite my needs. She followed up after my first lesson with learning materials that suited my needs perfectly. She conversed with me in Spanish so I became more comfortable with the pronunciations. This week is my trip and I feel confident to speak key phrases. I would definitely recommend her as a teacher. Thanks Kick!

Marlisa is a very kind, patient and knowledgeable teacher. I took my granddaughter to her for a pottery lesson and she was very happy with Marlisa's teaching, resulting in her being able to throw a bowl on the wheel that she can actually use. I would highly recommend Marlisa as a teacher for students of all ages!

Marlisa is an awesome teacher. I took a pottery class at Glen Echo years ago and was very disappointed, but with Marlisa's excellent teaching skills and enthusiasm for the art, I left her studio feeling like I wanted to buy a wheel and start throwing. I appreciate her hands-on approach and always felt taken care of attended to. Marlisa is a true artist and excellent teacher!!! I highly recommend her.

Marlisa is an excellent teacher! She was patient and kind and very helpful! I went to her house for a pottery lesson a few days ago, and I was very apprehensive going into it, because I tried pottery a few years ago and had a less than satisfactory experience. However, I'm so glad that I did this lesson anyway, because I had so much fun! Marlisa is an excellent and patient teacher, and she first shows you exactly what you need to do, and then helps you with every step as you do it yourself. She gives you the chance to practice, but really knows what she's doing so she can help you correct your mistakes, also. I live in California, but if I lived in the DC area, Marlisa would definitely be my #1 choice for a ceramics teacher!
