I started crocheting in December, 2012. Since that time I have learnt several stitches, reading and understanding the symbols and charts. I have finished several projects: a wedding pillow, baby blankets, Christmas trees, hats, shawls, a heart shaped box for Valentine's Day, a poncho, doilies.

My crochet teacher , Andrea, was excellent. Very patient, on time and an excellent teacher. It was first time doing crochet and the first time I used take lessons. I was very impressed with both and would use them again.

Amy is wonderful!

I've been with Amy for just over a year now, having "0" experience in the beginning. I'm so glad that I found her. Amy is a great teacher. She's professional, talented and experienced, patient, flexible and super easy-going.
As a beginner, playing the piano can be challenging and frustrating. Amy is encouraging, even when I think I'm doing poorly. She identifies difficulties and explains/demonstrates helpful corrections. I have learned a lot in my first year and I highly recommend her as a teacher. Thank you, Amy!!

My kids love Amy!

My daughters are currently taking lessons with Amy to learn to play piano. They are really enjoying themselves and have learned so much already. Amy is very professional to work with and has a great method of teaching. She leaves specific instructions for what to work on every week. We are very happy to have found such a great source for music instruction!

Best Music Teacher Ever!

I have grown so much musically because of what I've learned from Miss Amy. She has taught me so much about my voice and being confident on stage, I even got a solo this year at school! I have learned a lot about diction, expanding my range, making a clear sound, and each class is so much fun!

We will go over basic crochet stitches, the best way to hold a crochet hook, and how to put these stitches together to create various things such as slippers, hats, headbands, adornments such as flowers and leaves, scarves, hooded scarves, etc.

Tina is the best voice coach. She is very professional but friendly at the same time. Somehow my daughter(8 years old) clicked with her and loved singing with her! Tina successfully prepared my daughter for the Talent Show quickly even though the date was imminent. My daughter is currently taking a break from singing until her school is over. I highly recommend Tina to anyone who has a child or teenager as she is very patient and fun to sing with!

Ms. Tina is the best singing teacher in the High Desert! My daughter loves coming to her lessons, and has vastly improved. She has had 3 other singing teachers prior, but they did not teach breathing and vocal techniques. Ms. Tina coaches and critiques without being overly critical. She challenges my daughter with different genres of music, which has helped her not only widen her interests in music, but also improved her vocal abilities tremendously.
So if you're looking to sing better just for fun or for a competition, Ms. Tina will help get you there!

I wanted to make scarf for my cousin's birthday, but I didn't have any training and the crocheting books were intimidating. Bri was patient and knowledgeable with her instructing. Now my cousin has a beautiful scarf.

Tegan S.

Somerville, MA

20+ years crochet experience. Familiarity with pattern creation, yarn/hook selection, blocking, finishing, etc.

Beginning students will learn the basic stitches, and work on fun, simple projects such as hats or scarves to practice.

Intermediate students will learn more advanced stitches and learn finishing techniques, and begin looking at lace-making and pattern creation.

Advanced students will explore pattern creation and pattern revival to help rescue antique and vintage patterns that may be poorly written, or not-easily-comprehensible to a modern crocheter. We will explore combining crochet with other crafts such as sewing, knitting, and beading.

I usually avoid doing reviews -- takes time I don't have. But I was very impressed with Tegan's approach with my son, which I witnessed in its entirety, along with her availability (easy to accommodate & then tweak again our schedule this summer, which was key). She's very patient while being precise, which is just what Paul -- who has ADHD & Asperger's, which means he's easily distracted -- needs. It was a good idea to make the first lesson a combined hour (to learn how to care for the instrument, moisten the reed, posture, where hands should be, forming the mouth, etc.). She knows the book Paul's school uses She was waiting for us with a parking pass (essential in Somerville). I feel really good about the prospect of Paul being able to "catch up" this summer with the first year school year instruction he missed out, given Tegan's focus & attention. One possible drawback for some others -- vs. my son & me, who value substance (where Tegan is outstanding) over appearances -- might be that Tegan's apartment is more like an early '70's hippie pad (cramped un-air-conditioned attic 3rd floor walk-up, with no place for me to wait during my son's lesson except scrunched up against an eave in the studio/ living room, 1 foot from their chairs, petting the friendly dog) than a more traditional dedicated studio in the home, as his piano teacher has.

Great experience, Tegen is a good explainer and a good improviser in sewing, looking for fitting solutions if she doesn't already know them. Models how to figure out for yourself in the future.
