Releasing Physical Tension through Meditation

In this session we will review our practice from Intro to Basic Meditation, including posture, breathing, and general focus. Then, we will add a new element to our routine with a Muscular Relaxation technique. This method allows us to release physical tension, the buildup of stress in the muscles, so that our work to relieve stress in the mind can be more direct and effective. *Please note: This course involves very light physical exercise--no standing, but it is possible to pull a muscle if you do not listen to your body. Therefore, please be aware of your limits and do not continue any action which causes physical pain or discomfort.

Focused Attention and the Law of Attraction

So far you will have practiced adjusting your posture, breathing slowly and deeply, and clearing the mind. Most likely you are still dealing with distractions, and that's perfectly okay! This session will go further into detail on how to handle the random thoughts, ideas, memories, and observations that tend to interrupt during meditation, in order to be fully present in the moment of here and now. Toward the end of the session, we will practice attracting positivity through expression of gratitude.

Meditating has empirical evidence to back its overall positive effects on our bodies, minds, and emotions. In fact, the brains of those who meditate demonstrate physiological alterations and differences in their rate of compassion to certain troubling stimuli. It is a wonderful way to regulate the stress response, improve immune health, activate parasympathetic nervous system response, calm the body and mind, among many other benefits!!!

Perhaps the most significant benefit, one that you can immediately begin to experience with practice, is PEACE. This peace is a certain kind of stillness, calm, relaxation, and balance. It is unique to the practice of meditation, especially certain kinds of meditation.

The kind that I teach involves guided practices that trains the mind to eventually quiet all mental chatter. When the mind is clear, the body and emotions also follow suit. Profound healing often occurs at a deep level due to accessing this type of inherent peace.

I had my second lesson with Hanna this week and she has been great so far. As someone new to yoga, I would highly recommend Hanna. She took the time before we started the lessons to answer all of my questions. She is very patient and friendly. I like the way she has explained yoga so far; the styles, poses, flows and the mental and spiritual aspects. She has a calm demeanor.

She has also been mindful of my existing shoulder injury to make sure that what we're doing isn't aggravating it. The other nice thing is she's been good about responding to my questions quickly and throughly and she's been on-time for both lessons.
