I offer guided meditation and deep relaxation as part of a developing yogi's practice, or simply on it's own. Options for meditation include restorative yoga and meditation, Reiki and meditation, sitting meditation, guided meditation to music, or seated meditation in silence. My space is designed to offer optimum comfort. Aromatherapy is incorporated unless otherwise specified. Please contact me regarding any questions you might have about delving more deeply into your own meditation practice.
Life is overwhelming, let's face it. We need practical ways to relax and find deeper meaning and experience in our lives, now.
I have 12 years of meditation experience, and can help you get started in your meditation practice as well as assist you with any concerns or issues with your current practice.
Are you looking for more "calm" and clarity in your life? Do you want to relax more AND strengthen your attention? Or perhaps, you want to become more adept at working gently/skillfully with feelings and emotions, and learn to follow your intuition. Whatever your desire, you can find more peace, balance and genuine self-knowledge through working with the practice of meditation.
I have studied and practiced mindfulness-awareness meditation in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition for 11+ years. Currently, I teach beginning meditation instruction, open house talks and contemplative arts programs/weekends, as a member of the Baltimore Shambhala Meditation Center.
In the last 6 years, I have also studied and practiced Reiki, intuitive/energetic healing, and astrology extensively. Depending on the interest and needs of the student, I can draw on and incorporate any of these modalities.
Meditating has empirical evidence to back its overall positive effects on our bodies, minds, and emotions. In fact, the brains of those who meditate demonstrate physiological alterations and differences in their rate of compassion to certain troubling stimuli. It is a wonderful way to regulate the stress response, improve immune health, activate parasympathetic nervous system response, calm the body and mind, among many other benefits!!!
Perhaps the most significant benefit, one that you can immediately begin to experience with practice, is PEACE. This peace is a certain kind of stillness, calm, relaxation, and balance. It is unique to the practice of meditation, especially certain kinds of meditation.
The kind that I teach involves guided practices that trains the mind to eventually quiet all mental chatter. When the mind is clear, the body and emotions also follow suit. Profound healing often occurs at a deep level due to accessing this type of inherent peace.
As a yoga instructor I am well acquainted with meditation, and love the affects that come from such powerful mindfulness. From helping you study with more focus and detail, to helping you be in the moment for events and intimate life moments, to gaining more confidence and rest meditation can help you release stress and achieve great growth and comfort in your life. I would love a chance to help you dive into meditation on any level and further promote your mindfulness journey.
I have been meditating since 1983! I have learned and trained others in many different techniques.
In 2009 I attended the 10-day Vipassana course. This is an intensive program where you go to a center and for 10 days live like a monk/nun. You take a vow of silence, learn the same techniques that were taught to Budda's disciples and you meditate for 10 hours every day.
This was by far one of the most challenging things I have done (physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually) in my life.
