Reading the detailed "About" section below should give an aspiring singer all the information relevant as to how and what I teach, with regard to vocal performance and technique. As a lover of Broadway, then and now, I incorporate my knowledge of what is necessary to perfect the craft of being a confident singer on a theater stage. To capsulize my mission statement as an instructor: You WILL be a better vocalist AND performer. THIS I GUARANTEE!!
I have been truly blessed in my career to have experienced so many highlights; too many to document. From winning an understudy roll in the Broadway Musical "Platinum" starring Hollywood actress Alexis Smith, to performing our National Anthem at events ranging from Major League Baseball to ESPN Boxing to receptions for major dignitaries, to recording 7 albums and a full-length video, to being asked to perform for Mr. Frank Sinatra at the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Tournament, I have lived a full life on stage, learning and absorbing every bit of knowledge gathered along the way.
Now it is my desire to escalate my status as an educator to a more "one on one" experience; availing myself the opportunity to pass along that wealth of knowledge to individual students who aspire to enjoy the entertainment profession as I have, providing them with the skills needed to successfully compete. Or, should it be their choice not to pursue entertainment as a vocation, to gain a working understanding of all facets of their instrument so as to gain a better appreciation of music. Whatever the goal of the student, I feel that I am equipped to provide them with the tools needed to achieve that goal.
*** Lesson Details ***
Content of Sessions
Generally, the first 10-15 minutes of each lesson will be focused on vocal warm up and exercise. (For guitar students, we will review the previous
week's assignment). For Vocal Students, it is understood that the voice mechanism is made up of muscles, and as an athlete prepares for a sporting event, a singer must prepare to vocalize. It is at this time in our lesson when the student will develop good habits of voice maintenance, which will serve them well throughout their careers. The proper care and preservation of the vocal unit cannot be stressed enough, especially for pubescent and pre-pubescent students. Vocal chords in a developmental stage are most susceptible to damage, and because they are particularly sensitive, they must be handled with care. Our warm up regimen is designed to strengthen as well as preserve the singing voice.
I am not an advocate of getting too involved and "bogged down" in the technical aspects of singing, especially with the young students, and
especially early in our program. This is not to say that breath control, tonality, pitch, etc. are not vital to good singing, because these workings are ESSENTIAL, and their application will certainly be incorporated into our studies. Some instructors, on occasion, have a tendency to lose sight of the fact that much to do with singing happens "naturally", and too much focus on the "technical" can actually be inhibiting. This can alter a beautiful, natural tone into one that is unnatural and contrived.
I adhere to the philosophy that above all else, SINGERS WANT TO SING SONGS, and musicians-in-training want to play music. That is our focus, and all of our training is conceived with that objective in mind. All the technical knowledge and coaching serves no purpose without practical application. It is my belief that the most significant progress occurs when a vocalist is singing a song.
Nearly every element of instruction can be utilized in the performance of one song. This is why the majority of our session time will be spent "in song". For the very young student, we will concentrate our efforts with the students choices of favorite and familiar songs. The older students will undoubtedly have favorite songs, styles and artists. Special attention will be paid to the genre most enjoyed by the student, but diversity will be emphasized as well, and a variety of genres will be unpacked and explored. I believe that whatever a student's musical goals and aspirations, it is in their best interest to gain knowledge and insight in all facets of music, singing, and performance.
The most vital pre-requisite for any student is their enthusiasm. My ambition will be to harness that enthusiasm and channel it productively through stimulating instruction. Our sessions will be informative and educational, but always predicated upon "having fun with music".
I am proud to feature a curriculum that emphasizes the entertainment aspect of singing as well as the technical; created to benefit all ages and experience levels, from beginner to seasoned professional. After just weeks of my "Triple Threat Training" a student will begin to see astounding results: vocally, musically, and in the art of performance. I am excited to share my knowledge with you. *** Studio Equipment ***
My studio is equipped with a full vocal sound system with microphones that I utilize to teach the valuable art of mic technique. Young students enjoy using the mics and hearing themselves sing and perform. Since our lessons are predicated on enjoying the art of singing, this opportunity has proven invaluable. For the advanced performer, studying all aspects of amplification and what a singer should know about their stage sound is a part of our educational curriculum. My studio is furnished with the equipment that is essential to mastering that knowledge.
Since the practical aspect of my course is based on singing songs, I provide all the latest technology required to allow my students the opportunity to sing the songs of their choosing, with and without the lead vocal tracks. I feel that when students are singing their favorite songs, it offers me the greatest teaching opportunities. I make certain the every musical genre can be represented, and feel I have the knowledge and ability to guide the student is whatever their musical tastes. My studio is also equipped with piano (for vocal exercises), and guitars, which gives me opportunity to accompany my students when the musical moment is appropriate. Be assured that all the technology I need to fulfill the educational needs of my students is but a step away!!

My original band, Danielle and The Masses, has been recording and performing live since 2001. We are endorsed by Ani Difranco, The Black Eyed Peas, The Bruce Hornsby Band, and have shared the stage with artists as Jamie Foxx, CAKE, Metric, En Vogue, David Byrne, Berlin, Margaret Cho, Cyndi Lauper, Jonatha Brooke, Beth Hart, Semi Precious Weapons and more.
I have written and performed music and voice over for Ace Ventura, Nutty Professor, VH1, various TV shows and independent documentaries, Eveoke Dance Theatre, among others, as well as having recorded eight professional CDs of various styles on various record labels.
For over ten years, my record / production company, Say It Records has been producing socially conscious music events throughout San Diego and Southern California that promote independent music, film, art, community and human rights. I also co-own Durga Sound, a teaching and production studio, with producer Alicia Champion, as well as San Diego IndieFest, a powerful community event which promotes and supports music, film, art and civic engagement.
I have a great time utilizing my contacts in the industry to help my students get work/ press / entrance into the schools of their choice, etc. For example, I'm happy to report that just last year we were able to book eight musicians on GLEE, as well as lots more in other capacities including using their music in commercials and film and helping them get cast in local theatre and accepted into arts-centered schools.
*** Lesson Details ***
I start on the first lesson by becoming clear about what the new student's goals and desires are from there, we start developing technique to achieve those goals along with having fun right away doing what they came for - singing, writing, voice over, acting or using a combination of these things be it for professional purposes or personal fulfillment. Every lesson is personally customized to meet the specific goals of each student. As a teacher, I'm encouraging and fun, passionate and positive. While I'm definitely not "strict", I do appreciate focus and drive. However, I often work with people who have special needs and are working on developing those very things. I'm especially good at helping people through progress plateaus, roadblocks, stage fright, loss/ stress. Using music as a means of release and healing - for both kids and adults - is something I do a lot of and am very comfortable with.
As far as technique is concerned, I focus on utilizing posture, correct breathing and developing relaxed, strong support, so that the muscles are developed properly. We want the voice to develop without stress, enabling the student to constantly grow while steering clear of any injury that can happen as a result of straining, not to mention other habits that manifest when we sing without proper technique.
I strongly encourage students to record their lessons on a mobile device so they can practice easily on their own, and so they eventually have a record of how far they've grown.
We mostly use tracks to develop repertoire, prepare for auditioning and performances, and to have fun singing the music that excites each student the most.

Using music, writing and voice as a means of expressing yourself, growing as a performance artist, coping in challenging times, as well as a means of going professional and earning income are all areas I specialize in. Utilizing proper technique and learning how to sing / speak safely is also an area I focus on a great deal.
Learning precisely what each student wants is the key factor in my decision on how to achieve their goals. For example, using Speech Level Singing is definitely entrenched in my teaching, but I may not highlight it as much for those who want a more classical sound.
I excel with the following: first timers, very young kids, students working through stage fright, artists looking to develop their own original project, those seeking growth in their process of writing / recording / performing, those who are interested in using music and / or writing as therapy as well as with amateurs who've always wanted to do something musical but who think they are "too old" or too "untalented/short/tall/ fill in the blank" to try. I believe we all have something to say with our lives - finding the voice within you can be an incredibly powerful and transformative experience!

I first met Danielle when I finally decided to try singing lessons to see what it was like. I'm so glad that Danielle is the teacher I decided to go with, she's an incredible voice coach and person. The improvements I made in such a short time with her and that I could see every lesson were so much more than I ever expected, and she's so supportive that I've ended up getting totally outside of my comfort zone without even realizing it.
Now for the second part: I decided I wanted to try acting, and since this is also something Danielle excels at doing and teaching in addition to singing, doing acting lessons with her was a no-brainer. Knowing me and my strengths, she suggested we start by trying out voice acting. I am in no way exaggerating when I say that I did one voice acting lesson with Danielle and was so encouraged by her, that I went out and got a paying job as a voice actor that same week. And Danielle helped me through every step of the process, and might have been the only person more excited about my success than I was!
Meeting Danielle and taking lessons with her has changed the entire career path I want to follow in ways I never imagined. I cannot recommend her enough! Even if you're just looking for some great singing lessons on the weekends and not a new life trajectory, you'll be glad you met Danielle :).

As an opera coach and accompanist I found that what makes a unique voice and singer is their tone and interpretation. Therefore my main focus is on tone, breathing technique, diction, interpretation and sight singing.

In my early age I won many competitions and performed in solo recitals and with symphony orchestras, also as a chamber musician, therefore I understand what it takes to not just learn music but what it takes to be a great performer and interpreter of music.
My beginner students enjoy a fun way of learning to read notes and interpret even the simplest songs and pieces. I introduce my students to technique by teaching scales in many forms , exercises and etudes. I also teach them theory and give them written homework to practice their knowledge while away from the lessons. They are rewarded with surprise gifts after earning a certain amount of A grades. Students of school age are prepared for state evaluations and festivals and participate in studio recitals. I also work wit
Students also enjoy performing chamber music with their fellow musician friends and enjoy fun parties after recitals.
Adult students come to my classes for many reasons the main ones being: wanting to learn about music or to perfect their skills. Many students are also interested in preparing for auditions to music institutions or exams in the music field they are already majoring in. Other areas of interest my students have include church music, hymn improvisation and sacred music performance.
My studies began when I was 6 years old in my city of birth Brasov, Romania and ended with my Bachelor and Masters degrees at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. I performed all over the world as soloist and chamber musician together with my two brothers who are also professional musicians, violinist and cellist.
Students will be given a studio informational package upon registering with my studio which includes my resume, studio fees, studio activities and general studio activities information.
My students find me to be very funny but at the same time professional and very serious in my expectations of their weekly preparation for lessons.

I am a GRAMMY-winning choral singer and composer in the BMI Musical Theater Writing Workshop with a Masters Degree and Artist Diploma in Opera Performance from University of Cincinnati- CCM. I have also worked as a studio pianist for Marilyn Horne, Ron Raines, Deric Rosenblatt, Bill Neill, and several other NYC voice teachers.
As a teacher, I bring all of my diverse experiences together to teach classical singing technique as a means for effectively communicating and storytelling. Much of my technique involves identifying and releasing tension through proper breath management.
