While a bit humbling Alex definitely helped me fix some glaring technical issues, particularly with the bow.

She helped my 12 year old daughter prepare the Saint Saens Cello concerto (1st movement) for a small performance. My daughter played more spiritedly after her session with Alex. She was especially helpful for a specific bow technique.

My high school daughter has received trumpet lessons from Jonathan for over a year. He is an excellent instructor, very knowledgeable and patient. As a school teacher, he knows how to work with kids in a way that gives him an advantage over a non-teacher performing artist. We've done lessons both in person and online. I'd highly recommend Jonathan to any parent looking to have their middle school/high school student take private lessons.

"I started playing cello at 26 years old with absolutely zero musical experience of any kind. After 6 months of attempting to teach myself the cello, I decided I needed help and begun my journey to find myself a cello instructor. I was so fortunate to find Arlette! Arlette was abundantly patient with me, from my habit of asking too many questions to my very unpredictable availability. Before Arlette started teaching me music theory and how to play the cello, I never appreciated the value of having an instructor. After having taken lessons from her for nearly a year, I would simply say having a fine instructor like Arlette is a necessity. The first time I played a duet was with Arlette, and it was a moment in my life I am so thankful for and I will never forget! She is kind and consistent, very professional but also very personable which is a very hard thing to balance. She pushed me to excel without making me feel overwhelmed. I could go on forever about how great a cello instructor Arlette is so I will finish with this... If you are looking for a cello teacher look no further."

"Corey worked with my daughter for four years, beginning her freshman year. He began by helping her with music assigned for her orchestra class, finding specific techniques to improve upon as they went. By her senior year they were working on advanced techniques, resulting in her reaching State for Solo & Ensemble.
Throughout her entire time with Corey her confidence grew tremendously. As a parent I appreciated the strong relationship and mutual respect they developed. I have recommended Corey and would continue to do so."

What is a Yamaha Cello? A Detailed Look for Cello Students

Who made your cello? Who carved the body, stained, varnished, and assembled the instrument, including the label visible through the f-hole which bears their signature? Many musicians consider the maker of their instrument, or luthier, a point of pride. There are famous luthiers, like Stradivari and Guarneri, whose names are synonymous with masterpieces of craftsmanship. These masters innovated many of the standards for modern stringed instruments, and so many luthiers might include on the la …
