Trumpet Lessons in Kimmswick. Amazing Teachers.

I have twenty years in musicianship as a trumpet player myself and five years of experience in teaching music. Each lesson is designed to cater to the needs of the student and provide them with the skills to advance as a successful musician. Each lesson is customized and the students will learn subjects such as sight reading, ear training, musical theory and more.

With an emphasis on jazz and improvisation, my goal is to provide insight along your musical path. Here some of the topics we may explore:

Trumpet technique - We'll build custom exercises, some focusing on your strengths, others challenging the edge of your abilities. Rather than looking at practice as "warming up", we'll shift our mindset to "trumpet calisthenics" (inspired by Laurie Frink).

Jazz - We'll define jazz chords and learn how to play the notes in (and around!) them. We'll find melodies to flow from one chord to the next. We'll also discuss forms and listen to rich recordings of the jazz masters.

Free Playing - This is when we can let go of the analytic mind and simply make sound. We can direct our attention to non harmonic concepts like emotions, shapes, textures, and images. Sometimes I'll put a drone on during this segment or we'll play call and response ideas.

As a certified music teacher my lessons help students quickly gain confidence on the trumpet. With my guidance, students become well-rounded musicians able to play their favorite songs, explore new possibilities, make their own music, and take on new challenges!

Michael Brown has studied the Trumpet since age 11. Graduated from Jones County High school in 2016. In the four years at Jones High School county Michael has preformed Principal trumpet with the local youth orchestra, Principal Brass Quintet, and Symphonic band, and Jazz band. He has also participated in District, Region, and All-State Honor bands in the state of Georgia. His senior year he was named the Drum Major for the high school marching band.He is Now attending Kennesaw State University

I can teach any level of trumpet playing. Classical, Jazz, funk.
Beginners or advanced players. I have studied trumpet with many of the best teachers in America, including John Haynie, Bert Truax, locally Gilbert Castellanos and Arturo Sandoval. The list is too long to name the all,but I have had opportunities to learn from many of the most famous players.

I have been playing trumpet since 2nd grade. I am comfortable teaching beginner students both in person and online. Hour sessions are available but count as two 30 minute sessions back to back.
