Matt is an excellent guitar teacher. I highly recommend him.

Matt has been teaching guitar to my 12 year old son for several months now. My sons' guitar playing has improved greatly since his lessons with Matt. He's playing with a lot more confidence, thanks to Matt's influence.

Matt is always on time and has a wonderful way with people. My son feels very comfortable with him. They collaborate on songs together and it is important to Matt that Jude be engaged in his guitar practice.

We're thrilled with Matt and I highly recommend him as a teacher.
Any aspiring guitar player would be lucky to have Matt as a teacher!

I teach all levels, all ages, beginning to advanced; experience with special needs students.

I develop relationships with parents and inspire them to be motivational and supportive to their kids in a way that is not overbearing.

Energize and inspire students’ love of music, many styles, with respect for what they already know and enjoy.

I bring the experience of every note I’ve written, on a deadline; every moment on stage, under pressure, (during performance as a leader or a sideman) to each student I teach. I make every effort to instill a passionate, strong work ethic; as well as proper attitude and character towards their fellow musicians.

About Scott
Scott brings nearly a quarter of a century of experience in private music instruction to music students of all ages and at all levels.

Although guitar is his main instrument, he also plays drums, bass, keys, writes for all contemporary instruments, full orchestra, vocal ensembles, and percussion ensemble.

He plays, composes and teaches a wide variety of styles including: rock, pop, jazz, jazz fusion, blues, R&B, P&W/Gospel, funk.

Scott has played as a full time musician since 1990 (having played guitar since 1980, drums since 1974).

He's played with dozens of bands, and was also the full time staff arranger, music director, guitarist at a mega church for 18 years.

Scott knows that each student is unique.

He is committed to fostering that uniqueness while making sure they each have a broad understanding and applicable use of what goe
s into finding their own sound on their instrument.

Then, he focuses on how to take those skills into a real world scenario.

Scott encourages each student to embrace the music that they already enjoy and to be open to other styles of music.

Scott's personal and tailored approach to each student, no matter what their age, level, or ultimate goals, inspires students to become their best, have fun and stay motivated beyond the lessons.

Although I was forced to select a subject of Acoustic Guitar on the review form, my children and I have also taken lessons with Mel Parker on every subject in the pick list plus a few more. Theory, composition, recording. Improvisation techniques, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, banjo, violin, bass, mandolin, ear training, techniques applied to all music genre's, group and solo performance techniques, ETC! The main point here is that as an accomplished and talented musician, Mel Parker is fluent in the music industry and very skilled at teaching all skill levels, from beginner to pro. He can teach very rigid focused lessons or he can shift and adjust the lesson instantly to meet the needs of the student. My children have been able to explore and experiment different instruments, genre's and other areas of the music industry as their interests grew and changed over the years. They have had many changes in their interests but the one constant has been the TEACHER! It is wonderful to be able to have 1 teacher adjust his education for the ever changing and growing needs of my family. Both of my children are now very accomplished award winning performers and we all agree that Mel Parker has been/is the primary influencer in their accomplishments.

My daughter has been one of Mel's violin students for 5+ years. He is an accomplished musician who teaches his students with a kind and gracious demeanor. She also has had the opportunity to play solo's in recitals and yearly contests that Mel's studio arranges for his students. Because of his well-rounded attention to instruction, practice, and performance, her growth as a violinist has been immense. This growth has also allowed her to compete at the district and state level in school.
