From strumming chords & holding a pick, to using a Spider Capo, alternate tuning & arranging pieces for solo acoustic guitar, I work to inspire & elevate technique, musicality & fluency with the acoustic guitar.

About Alex
Hey, my name is Alex. I'm a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, keyboards, voice, drums, flute, etc.), composer, performer, recording artist, arranger/orchestrator/transcriber, recording engineer/producer & music educator.

I graduated from the University of St. Thomas "Cum Laude" in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Guitar Performance, with minors in Music Production & Composition. While attending St. Thomas I served as the Music Theory tutor, as well as the live sound/stage/light/recording technician for student & faculty recitals.

I have been playing professionally & teaching for over a decade. My passion for music is something that I love to share with anyone else who feels inclined to make music. My goal is to share the skills & knowledge I've acquired throughout my experiences with those willing to learn & dedicate themselves
to the craft of making music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am experienced in most major genres of music: classical, jazz, blues, rock, funk, folk, metal, acoustic fingerstyle/slap, instrumental rock, "shred," pop, world music, electronica, etc. & feel comfortable conveying the techniques, approaches & idioms to a student by breaking them down into digestible components, while making these new ideas relatable to material they are already familiar with.

In the end, I want the student to learn what they're most interested in learning. I'm here to answer any questions they may have & with my experiences, I feel confident that I will be able to either answer these questions or point them in the right direction. Some topics covered:

Scales/modes
Ear training
Instrument-specific techniques (ie bending, tapping, sweep picking, etc.)
Songwriting & Composition
Arranging & Orchestrating
Sight-reading
Improvisation
Chordal theory & how to read charts
Practice routines & approaches
Instrument maintenance
Instrument-based gear (guitars, amplifiers, effects, picks, slides, capos, etc.)

The student will learn at the pace they set for themselves & can only get out of it the amount of effort they put forth. I expect my students to practice on a regular basis (however brief each session may be). Consistency is key for progress to be made, & if they hold up their end of the bargain, the payoffs will be quite substantial!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Practice amplifier, tuner, music stand(s), guitar picks & cables.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide guitar neck paper. I expect the students to have their own instrument & any materials they may need to achieve the goals they've set for themselves (such as a weekly notebook).

*** Specialties ***
Progressive rock, classic rock, blues, jazz, funk, disco, classical, acoustic fingerstyle/slap, flamenco guitar; music theory, sight-reading, composition, songwriting, film scoring, music production.

Great first lesson. Attentive, and I felt like we got right to playing. The hour went by real quick, but I feel like I gained something already, and expect to learn more in future lessons.

Did a great job of meeting me halfway on my experience level.

Tim did a great job of explaining the lessons and provided valuable information about reading music. Unfortunately, at the time I started, I also had a newborn making it very hard to stay on track with practicing. Now that my daughter is older, I have more time to practice, and look forward to taking lessons soon.

I love working with musicians who want to grow and develop into the musician that they truly desire to be. Whether you are learning guitar to play in a band, work on your solo career, be able to play your favorite songs with friends and family together, or simply practice a healthy and productive hobby on your free time, my goals as your teacher are to help you feel comfortable expressing yourself with a guitar in your hands.

We will work through learning and playing songs, right-hand rhythm technique, left hand chord structures, playing with easy-feel, soloing and different scales, improvisation, and of course, music theory and the science behind how everything works up and down the guitar neck.

About Juan
I am an experienced musician, singer, and teacher. I have six years of performing and touring experience, and six years teaching private lessons as well as at the School Of Rock in Ballwin, MO. I like to work with my students on their specific needs/interests/desires as singers and musicians. Whether that is on technique, performance, extending range, learning songs, or simply feeling more comfortable with your singing voice and your performing abilities, I am happy to help you grow as a singer and musician.

Experienced teacher of 5 years, specializing in beginner/ intermediate guitar, voice and performance. All ages welcome. Whether you're looking to play the blues, serenade your crush, shred face-melting guitar solos, or any other smattering of skills, lessons will be catered to meet the individual goals of the student. Not to mention random bits of musical trivia, picked up from years of obsessive Wikipedia reading.

About Jake
Music fills virtually my entire life. When I was 12 years old I picked up my dad's old guitar, played a few chords, and haven't put it down since.

I am currently studying Composition at Macalester College, but my experience goes far beyond the classroom. I sing in the advanced Concert Choir, as well as in Macalester's premier acapella group, and I am the frontman of a locally prominent band. I have been performing since I was 14, and have opened for several noteworthy artists, including Lion Babe, Lil' Dickie and T-Pain.

With me, students can expect to not only learn the guitar but also invaluable performance techniques, music theory, music history and more. Whatever your musical goals, be it acoustic songwriting like Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran, shredding guitar solos like Jimi Hendrix or Joan Jett, or intricate rhythmic strummings li
ke John Frusciante or Nancy Wilson, I am determined to help you succeed.

I've been playing guitar for ten years while getting degrees in theory and composition. I've played a lot of solo acoustic music as well as in bands, one of which I'm currently the lead guitar player in. I've played several styles of music and would tailor my lessons to fit what my student wanted to do., while making sure that they got a firm base in theory, ear training, and songwriting.

About Maxwell
I am a Twin Cities based composer. I've written music for soloists, chamber groups, orchestra, electronics, and the stage. My music has been performed from Iowa to Italy, Las Vegas to Abu Dhabi, by performers such as the Nevada Chamber Orchestra, the Mivos Quartet, the New Mexico Contemporary Ensemble, the NEXTET ensemble, Julia Bentley and many others. I have received grants from the Nevada Arts Council and the American Harp Society.

I received his MM at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as the last graduate student of the esteemed Ukranian composer Virko Baley. I received his BA at Luther College under Dr. Brooke Joyce, where my collaborative piece with Kimberly Osberg, The Page-Turners' Retort, received the honor of performance at the National Conference of Undergraduate Research.

I've taught both private lessons and classes in gu
itar, composition and music theory and have received uniformly good post semester reviews. I focus on fundamentals and how those develop into more complex skills.
