Experienced guitar teacher of 23 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical guitar skills. I specialize in finger picking for classical, pop, rock, ETC...Typically use Hal Leonard books, and also have the following tools available to use during lessons: sound recording equipment, Guitar Amps, effect pedals, sheet music, and more.

As my acoustic guitar student, you will learn any and all facets of guitar playing that interest you: chord strumming, note reading, blues jamming, singing while playing, learning the real guitar parts to your favorite recordings, ... the choice is yours. I hold a B.M. degree from Berklee College of Music and I have been teaching guitar and performing throughout southern New England for more than three decades. I look forward to helping you achieve your musical goals and dreams on the acoustic guitar!

Hi! I have been playing guitar for over 40 years. I was introduced to guitar by my older brother. He taught me Johnny B. Goode & we would jam for hours. I took some music classes at college but was a business major. Colleges only offered classical guitar & I was not interested in that. I have since studied six years with SF Conservatory graduate & classical guitarist Tim Lawler. Tim helped me learn to read music & develop my teaching skills. Thanks Tim!
I have been teaching for over 25 years, making a living at it for most of that time. I teach group & private lessons. Most of my students are beginners. Many start out as kids & stay until they go to college. I have a lot of teen & adult students also, with many diverse interests from classical, jazz, rock, funk, blues, alt, pop, rap, punk, metal, folk, country, game music, Americana, reggae, bluegrass. Hey there! I'm a multi-instrumentalist with a strong foundation in Guitar, Bass, and Drums.

My lessons are curated behind a few things:
-the understanding of music theory (scales, chord progressions, rhythmic structure, song composition etc.)
-student's requests to learn specific songs and creating original song
-having FUN!

Because in my experience, you're not learning if you're not enjoying what you're doing.

After 6 years, of playing drums, I began my time as a guitar player. I grew as a guitar player tremendously fast because of my understanding and practice of rhythm. I began as an acoustic/folk guitarist, progressed into a blues/funk guitarist, and now play mainly jazz and neo-soul. I also am accustomed to teach many other genres. I now write, produce, and perform my own music and stream online.

Students will learn rhythm and chords. We will work on right and left hand techniques for maximum sound and tone. We will also cover how to improvise over common chord progressions.
