Transcend the instrument and be able to play with anything. Learn your favorite tunes by ear and on the guitar. That is what I focus on. From beginning rudiments all the way through completely breaking down and conceptualizing the fretboard.

I've been playing for 20 years and have studied jazz at Peabody Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. However, I have played in bluegrass, rock, funk, hip hop and klezmer bands, as well.

I try to create an individual approach for each student because every person learns uniquely. I work with people on skills that apply to music at large, as well as the guitar 🎸. My goal is to help a student learn how to learn on their own, and provide the tools to do so.

With the current COVID-19 virus crisis, I have been shifting all my students to online classes. Check out my pictures to see my online classroom set up, or feel free to send me a message if you have questions! :)

We will learn chords, strumming techniques and basic finger picking of popular songs and the classic good ol' nursery rhymes. You'll learn how to read tabs and charts, playing by ear, and even venturing into songwriting if you so desire!

I also work with a teacher whom I transition my students over to once they reach intermediate/advanced level.

About Tammy

With the current COVID-19 virus crisis, I am only accepting online students. If you are located in Manhattan, NYC, I may be resuming in-person lessons on a case-by-case basis in the fall. Ms. Tammy is an excellent teacher. She’s passionate about her profession and makes her lessons fun for my son. My son is 4 years old and is taking her class online. At first I thought he would be intimidated, but teacher Tammy did a great job and eased my son into it. My son has been inspired and enjoys the lessons. Its also built his confidence and esteem. He finds joy in playing for his classmates, friends, and family.

We're having fun learning with Ms. Tammy. Her energy, approach and enthusiasm are just right to encourage, yet challenge my kids. She listens and addresses any questions or concerns that I may have. I also appreciate that she modifies sheet music to meet individual specific needs and avoids the cookie-cutter approach. Thanks, Ms. Tammy!

When I read Tammy’s bio I was excited, however, when class began I came to a realization that her bio is inaccurate. States she works with children of all ages, that is not true. Prior to purchasing classes we’d had a conversation and had an plan for my child. Ultimately class began, what was discussed was not implemented. I would recommend a different teacher.

The goal I have for my students is that they will fall in love with music. From the beginning my students will develop skills in :

-Theory

-Improvisation

-Note reading

-Composition

-Ear training

-Musical Interpretation

-Confidence and poise

-Initiative

-Attention span and concentration

-Visual and aural memory

I primarily focus on popular music styles, but I do offer a classical focus if the student has interests in that realm. I primarily teach via the discovery method; Which makes learning more active so that the students grasp concepts more effectively and develop the ability to learn independently.

I understand that every student's interests, goals and learning styles vary. As an instructor I teach accordingly with custom made lesson plans that cater to who you are as a student. Whether you are studying to pursue therapeutic/recreational goals or studying to pursue professional ...

Noah is a great teacher! He has taught me so much. When I started learning ukulele i had know idea how to do it. But now i can actually play songs. Even when i get something wrong he is patient with me and helps me through it.

I have been under the instruction of Noah for a little over two months now and I really enjoy his teaching style. I am older and not a proficient reader of music so Noah has had to start with very basic skills for me. He has done a great job of making it understandable. I am learning to read music and to play the ukulele at the same time, and am enjoying the online lessons.

Noah has been a fantastic Giutar teacher and really takes the time tillI I understand it , he is really knowledgeable and inspirational .

Highly recommend Trevor as a teacher! I started out taking his group classes, then signed up for private lessons. He's very knowledgable in both guitar theory and technique. And with the few lessons i've taken, I already see an improvement with how I play. He's super patient and supportive, which is very helpful as a beginner.

This was my first lesson with Trevor and he was great! He answered all my questions, gave me really helpful practice tips, and showed me some new skills.

"I spent my first year learning to play guitar via the intranet including many hours spent watching YouTube videos. While I learned many scales, chords, songs and some theory, I never had a clear and logical approach to learning or practice.
My first lesson with Jimmy was an eye opener as I had to re-learn my technique and eliminate the bad habits I copied from the internet. I have completed a number of lessons now and found Jimmy's method has given me everything I was looking for - a solid approach providing music theory and practice routines. My playing has improved dramatically. I am confident Jimmy can help me achieve my music goals."

"Stan Has been my instructor for eight months. Bottom Line...terrific! He is a master of his craft and a really-really gifted teacher. I tried a number of teachers over the years and got discouraged. There are many alleged "Music Teachers " that cant read music! Stan is a Suma Cum Laude (that's #1 in the class) Honors graduate of Berkley School of Music in Boston! The real deal!!

I walk away from every lesson as excited as the first. I highly recommend Stan to my family and friends!"

"I found the lesson with Don effective. He is an experienced teacher who knows what you need to learn in order to achieve your goal. He has plenty of handouts that really helps me practice. The most important thing I learned from him is the big picture of guitar learning. For example, I learned the connection between scales and chords, why/how to improvise with these, how to go from there to other relevant things, etc."

How to Simplify Your Live Guitar Rig for Performances

Playing the guitar is such a fantastic experience. It’s so relieving to be on stage or in your designated practice space and just wail on your instrument. However, one of the difficulties of being a guitar player is deciding what gear is needed for live performances.
