My methods vary from student to student. I focus primarily on ear training, applications of chord construction to learning solo's, songs, and chords, and reading guitar tablature when a student is lost. I believe guitar is an especially creative instrument and do NOT focus on reading sheet music as a part of the student's learning experience. An emphasis is also placed on performance as well as proper technique to avoid injuries. Listening to music is an extra-curricular activity that should be done every day with a special emphasis on hearing what the 'greats' do with a magnificent piece of wood in their hands.

About Greg

I have been playing guitar for over 14 years, played in four different gigging bands ranging from country to jazz to improvisational funk. I taught music theory, guitar, and bass at M.E.A. Music in Lexington Park, Maryland for 3 years and currently teach and manage at the School of Rock in Arnold.

Gave me beginner tips, and pro tricks. Taught me the basics in how to my technically proficient, but also gave me lessons on how to sound awesome to motivate. This wasn't a teacher who would just do drills all day. It was "here's the chords and methods to play your favorite songs". Motivated me to learn. Great teacher 10/10
Tristan
I found Kai's guitar lessons through a friend, but boy am I suprised! He was able to teach me the fundamentals as a newbie while keeping it engaging! Will absolutely reccomend to anyone beginner or advanced!
Matt
Best teacher ever!
I met Mr.Kai from a friend that had recommended him to me. I was nervous, at first, to be taking my very first guitar lessons. I met with Mr.Kai and immediately he made me feel at ease. He’s a very easy-going teacher and most importantly was very patient with me (I feel like i’m a slower learner). 10/10 would recommend to everyone!

About Rachel

I started my musical path in a Ballet Studio. I fell in love with the crackle of the vinyl record playing as I learned to listen and dance with the rhythm. I started playing the guitar when I was in elementary and took classical lessons until I was a teenager.I really enjoy the art of practice

Zaid is knowledgeable and dedicated instructor. He has taught my daughter for at least two years who had no experience and I feel that she has progressed faster than I think she would have at any typical music place.

It was the best! I didn't know what to expect because I've never played before. Nairobi was patient, professional and thorough. He was reassuring and his instructions were easy to follow. No longer nervous, I feel like I've achieved a major goal in learning to play. 5 STARS!
Conrad
Vast experience and knowledge.
Patient approach to teaching.
Don
Nairobi has been a great instructor. He does not use the "one size fits all approach", but rather will customize the instruction to what you want. Accordingly, students will remain interested and get more out of it when the curriculum is of interest to them. I wanted to learn how to play the guitar, but wasn't interested in learning to read music. Nairobi also let's you choose what type and what specific songs you'd like to learn. Learning to play your favorite rock, pop or blues song versus Mary Had a Little Lamb- guess which one keeps you more motivated and interested in learning how to play? Also, being able to have the lesson in the privacy of your own home is great. He makes learning to play the guitar fun. If you put the work in you'll be playing in no time.

"Why would anyone defame such a wonderful teacher? He is so dedicated and follows through with his lessons by consistently sending links all through the week that helps with understanding all you need to know about musical sounds. Its been an intriguing experience for me. Pay no attention to anonymous critics; they choose to remain anonymous not to help you, but to help themselves. I would recommend James to anyone seriously interested in honing their skills in the acoustic guitar. Cheers!"

"When I retired at the age of 64 I wanted to fulfill my lifelong dream of learning how to play an instrument. I selected the guitar and I have not looked back. I have been taking lessons from Tom Letizia for six years. Although I know I am not as quick to learn as young people are there is not a day that goes by that I do not enjoy playing. Tom is extremely talented, knowledgeable, understanding, and patient. He always encourages. If you ever want to learn the guitar I highly recommend Tom."

"Will is a very experienced, very intuitive musician who will tailor the lessons according to your goals, whether they be short-term, long-term, or just something you feel like doing that particular day. I tend to be self-critical sometimes and Will is very patient and very relaxed, and completely non-judgmental - I love how he first makes a small pot of tea while we talk about what I want to work on that day. It helps bring me out of wherever I was coming from prior to the lesson, and to refocus on the present moment."

"I have had the pleasure of playing and collaborating with Al for the better part of 6 years and in that time I have come to know him as a friend and mentor. Al's ability to simplify a concept into easily understandable principles has proved invaluable to me in my own growth as a musician. Although already experienced with guitar, with Al's help I was able to understand music in a new way and reinvigorate my methods. Al's expertise reaches far beyond bass and into many other aspects of music that provide a breadth to anything he teaches. He has always been very kind and understanding while still holding me to high standards and I really appreciate his way of teaching through application. I would definitely recommend Al's lessons to anyone new to bass or music in general."
