I believe that every student has his/her own need because we are all unique as human beings, every one of us has their stronger and weaker skills and my job as a teacher is to find the best tool to pass to the given student.

I am strict but fun, whichever amount the student needs more.

I use the Suzuki books because the songs (and later pieces) in are very good, popular, fun, and evenly progressive.

Achievements depend also on the student and the amount of practicing done at home. I as a teacher can only do that much in passing my knowledge and spur the student own. Practicing at home is very, very important.

About Hrant

Hrant's interests range from the solo cello repertoire to chamber music, teaching, and orchestral playing. As a teacher he has been a faculty member at Yale School of Music, 92nd Y, Summertrios Music Festival, and has held master classes at Yale and the William Blount-Slawson Competition. He has re

I have previously taken a year of cello lessons, and I currently teach cello to a few of my students. They are now more capable of identifying when notes are played in tune and are able to shift to intermediate level positions. If you are in need of an instrument, we may use one of your purchased lessons to meet at a local instrument provider to test out instruments.

Christine has been teaching private lessons since 2013 and is currently available to teach lessons at her home studio. Christine has helped students achieve confidence in their playing, perform songs with effortless execution, master technical skills, and prepare for recitals. Christine received

Christine is great with my children. She helped my high-school student with his orchestra audition (with her coaching, he made it into the highest orchestra at his school). She also helped launch my middle school aged daughter as she started up with viola. Christine is terrific with communication, flexible when possible with scheduling, and is as friendly as a long lost auntie. Her teaching style is gentle and encouraging.

"Professional and Experienced Cello Teacher!!

Jessica has been teaching cello classes for my 8th grade daughter who wanted to learn cello during summer and join school Orchestra team in good level. Jessica has been very professional, patient and always on time. She adjusts her teaching depending on the kids pace of learning. My daughter was able to pick up all the basics which she missed during one school year in eight weeks. She always checks home work and encourages kids to complete their homework. Her way of teaching certainly helped my daughter not only gain good knowledge but interest in learning more."

"My 9-year-old son has been taking cello lessons with Jessica for about 4 weeks and it has been a great experience. Jessica is very professional and competent teacher, always being on time, communicating in a very fun and engaging way, and assigning homework very clearly. Andrew very much enjoys the classes and, as a result, he is even more motivated to play the cello. I would highly recommend Jessica."

"It's no surprise that it's hard to learn an instrument as an adult. Apart from a semester of guitar lessons in college, I had no musical training and no understanding of music theory. All I knew was that I loved the sound of a cello, and I was graciously gifted one on my 28th birthday.

I am proud to say that I have been Rachel's cello student for over three years now. Since the beginning, Rachel has made sure that I felt comfortable during our lessons, and she remains reassuring even when I get discouraged with my bow hold or tight fingers.

Rachel has taught me a lot about music theory, but she's mostly taught me how to love my instrument. It has been amazing to see and hear the progress I've made, and she continues to give me more exciting challenges to practice each week. She's been attentive to my learning style and my ever-evolving cello goals, and I've been consistently impressed with how she's been able to keep our lessons interesting and fun over the years.

Rachel and I meet for an hour once a week and I look forward to every lesson! She has been the best instructor, and I look forward to many more lessons to come."

"Excellent instructor for adults. She has a great curriculum for adult students that really dives into techniques for making great sounds. I was concerned about having an online-only instructor, but she is able to pinpoint exactly what I can improve and explain it in a way that I can use to make adjustments. After several lessons, I would recommend her over an in-person instructor because it forces me to focus on the right posture and movements."

She put Josh at ease, evaluated what he already knew without making him uncomfortable, and got right to work improving his fundamentals in a way that seemed to get him really motivated. We're extending our series - thanks Makala!"

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
