For beginner students the focus will be primarily on getting you able to play songs from artists you love quickly and enjoyably, with a focus on developing good rhythm, technique, guitar care and a solid foundation of chords that can be used in innumerable songs. If you're interested in learning to sing while playing, I'll also help you find ways to incorporate it early on so that it becomes more natural as you progress.

For students with some experience the direction of our lessons will be largely determined by your personal needs and goals, but subjects we might cover include songwriting, finger-picking, expanding chord vocabulary, ...

I first heard Nick play about 4 years ago and a friend of mine took lessons from him. When I decided to start lessons, I naturally decided to go to him. As I went to his place, I thought, "Oh wow! I forget to ask my friend whether he's a good teacher!" I need not have worried. He's superb. He focuses on musicality: listening, hearing, enjoying; and then pulls out the technical things you could improve at and delves deep. I leave every lesson feeling great, and (proof of the pudding) people I jam with comment on how much my playing has improved. I'm an "advanced intermediate" player, but Nick also teaches kids, beginners, etc. In the age of coronavirus, our lessons are on Skype, and they are great, too. He comes out of jazz and plays trad as well as modern, but he also has an Americana band, and he knows classical, and the student before me is learning Hendrix-style rock. So no matter what direction you want to go, Nick is your man!

I’ve been trying to teach myself guitar from online videos and just started taking lessons with Nick. It’s making a huge difference. He’s worked on my posture, left and right hand positions, started me on basic ear training, sight reading and understanding of rhythm. He’s given me exercises to help with chord changes I’ve been struggling with. Nick’s a great musician who loves to play but also loves to teach, so a beginner with no music training can gain from his knowledge. He’s a kind, patient teacher and an enjoyable person to spend time with. My guitar playing sounds better already.

This was my first lesson with Nick. He is a very nice guy. He created a calm, relaxed atmosphere in his studio, and he was clear when he gave me particular instructions. His knowledge of music theory in general, and of the five-string banjo in particular, was quite impressive. I would recommend him highly to both a beginner and to anyone (like myself) who is in need of a refresher course. I am very much looking forward to my next lesson.

"I took lessons from Greg for guitar some years ago and his methods really helped me understand music with the way he taught chord theory and such. It applied to literally every instrument I learned afterwards.

Greg also has a plenty of patience for his students and is really good at encouraging growth and understanding in his students. Sometimes I would come in with a song I wanted to learn that was way more advanced than I was at the time, but rather than say I couldn't play it or to wait until later, he would take that difficult song and help break it down into what I did know and we'd go from there and as I result I felt I learned quickly, as well as understood how to break down songs into their more basic elements which would become later on for when I wrote my own music or lead in bands.

All in all a great experience and I feel like I owe a lot of my musical ability to the lessons I took with Greg."

"Phil is a fantastic guitar teacher. My teenage daughter has had a few teachers over the years, but he’s the first to help her learn to read actual music, teach her to restring her guitar, and provide a true musician’s perspective that keeps her interested and excited to learn. His focus on classical as a springboard for all other music genres is refreshing. We are thrilled to have found this gem of an instructor, his love for music and guitar is infectious and inspiring."

"Steven has been amazing!! I have little to no experience playing guitar, but I'm already getting the hang of playing well known songs! He does a great job of critiquing but also making the lesson fun! He tells me exactly what I need to do and the tools I need for the following lessons, so I always have a plan AND it's all in the comfort of my own home. I would highly recommend Steven, and if you're skeptical about taking an online lesson, don't be, because the attention Steven gives during lessons makes you feel like he's right there! Happy Strumming!"

"Jimmy is an awesome guitar teacher! A couple of yrs. ago, my 12 year old son was looking at getting professional guitar training, because though he was interested, he had very little k/w etc..and one of his friend's Dad recommended Jimmy.
You can see right away, that Jimmy is excellent with kids..and my son seems to enjoy every session with him. Jimmy's coaching technique is worth a mention as well. He makes it a point to make your basics very strong, which equips the person with enough skill to actually 'create' their own music versus simply 'copying' an existing song etc. I've been thoroughly satisfied sending my son to Jimmy for guitar sessions and the result shows. I see my son now playing quite fluently...and with confidence and will try and take a shot at making the cut for his High School's music/guitar team.

Also, looking at some of the other music instruments displayed in his studio, does seem Jimmy's a very talented musician, well versed in several areas.

Finally, Jimmy's studio is one nice n cozy place, where parents can do office work, sit and stretch out, watch TV, read and doze off or simply watch their kids learn guitar. I like being there as well :).
