I tried to teach guitar in the same manner in which I teach every instrument. First I teach students the rudiments of the instrument. Also I teach them how to read and a bit of music theory. From that point I like to follow the students lead. They bring in songs that they would like to learn, or possibly how to play lead guitar, or how to finger pick. At every point I try to point out general aspects of music that need to be learned from the material that they choose.

About John

Hello, Thanks so much for taking the time to inquire about studying music with me. Music and studying music has always been a passionate experience for me. I have been so blessed with the teachers and fellow musicians in my life. You should realize that your study of music may start with me,

My experience with Kathy has been great. It's been roughly five months and I learned a lot and I'm also much more confident to sing. Learning the right techniques is crucial. Kathy is extremely patient and she adapts the classes to the student goals and aspirations. English is not my first language and she was also always very respectful and patient in explaining everything twice or maybe three times until I get it.

Kathryn has a terrific demeanor, and provides clear, thoughtful suggestions for technique!

Curtis is a fantastic teacher! He is patient, enthusiastic, and encouraging. He teaches the type of songs you want to learn and not some song from a guitar guidebook. My first lesson was two hours and it quickly went by. I learned a lot, had a lot of fun and am looking forward to my next lesson. If you are in search of a guitar instructor, I would highly recommend him.

"Lena is PHENOMENAL! I've been taking lessons with her for 1.5 years and still going! Though she has chapters of curriculum to follow, she tailors her curriculum for each student so that they learn at their own pace, and she doesn't always go in order by chapter either! She gives you what you need when you are ready for it.

Her experience as a teacher, guitarist, singer/songwriter, and performer all come into play during her lessons (at least, for me anyway!). As a new singer/songwriter myself, she not only teaches me guitar at a pace that matches my own, but also provides guidance on vocals, setlist creation, and live or studio performance tips. And she has a seasonal Live Showcase Performance at a local music venue for any of her students that are interested in gaining live performance experience.

Lena is honest and encouraging all at once... which is a hard balance to maintain. I highly respect her as a mentor and musician. If not for her, I never would have discovered my ability to become a singer/songwriter and release my first EP!

Bottom line: if you can get on her lesson roster... DON'T WAIT!"

He is cool and nice, able to get you through all kinds of difficulties of learning guitar. Give hime a shot, if you really want to play guitar. He is better than any Youtube or on-line stuff."

"Russell is an amazing guitar teacher! He continuously makes the guitar lessons with my son fun and exciting which is extremely important for an active 9 year old. Russell is a patient and dedicated teacher. My son took a couple of lessons with another teacher prior to Russell and was not inspired to continue with his lessons. With Russell, my son is motivated and excited to demonstrate his progress. He has started to venture into drafting his own lyrics and matching them to guitar chords. As a parent, it is very rewarding to see your child take such interest in an instrument, in part due to his great guitar teacher."

"My son has been in lessons with Jordan for over 2 years now. It is his favorite hour of the week! He naturally enjoys the technical aspects of guitar but Jordan's ability to make him feel confident and love the music that their learning has been my favorite part of the time we spend with Jordan each week. "He's just cool." -my 11 y/o son. Most importantly, we value that our family shares an eternal perspective with Jordan and my son is now practicing on Sunday nights with the 5th grade worship team at our church. We could not be more pleased with Jordan as our teacher."
