Getting set up with fundamentals of drawing a good sound with the bow and placing the left hand accurately is important for any string player.

About Mathew
Currently residing in Homewood, IL to play downtown with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, I am looking to continue my passion of teaching in this exciting new city. My wife and I have relocated from Bloomington Indiana, where I was an Associate Instructor for the Jacobs School of Music. I have always enjoyed learning new instruments to get new musical perspectives; I have studied String Bass, Electric Bass, Guitar, Piano, Voice, Drums/Percussion,
and even the Viol de Gamba (Google it!).

Matt is an excellent guitar teacher. I highly recommend him.

Matt has been teaching guitar to my 12 year old son for several months now. My sons' guitar playing has improved greatly since his lessons with Matt. He's playing with a lot more confidence, thanks to Matt's influence.

Matt is always on time and has a wonderful way with people. My son feels very comfortable with him. They collaborate on songs together and it is important to Matt that Jude be engaged in his guitar practice.

We're thrilled with Matt and I highly recommend him as a teacher.
Any aspiring guitar player would be lucky to have Matt as a teacher!

Excellent online teacher. Her communication skills are superb and her ability to break down the steps for playing the cello are very easy to comprehend and then apply. She is organized and responded very quickly to my pre-lesson questions. Great online lesson experience.

Our child has taken cello lessons but has not learned to "shift" or even what the word means. Amy's first lesson provided exact instructions, repeated until the knowledge was easy to bring back. Our child is extremely happy with what was taught and commented, "I really want to practice my music now that I can tell if I'm doing it right." Thank you, Amy! You are an amazing teacher! Patient, kind but funny as well! Thank you for always taking the encouraging route. Your positive energy is very catchy!

I am a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston.
I'm currently accepting students in San Francisco and surrounding areas for cello, piano, guitar, beatboxing, and live looping.

I have a patient and relaxed attitude toward teaching with an emphasis on a balance between having fun while learning and developing the methodology of practice and discipline.
Lessons are taught in your home or at my studio in the Mission District.

About Joseph
Joey aka CelloJoe is an anomaly in the world of cellists.

By combining cello with beatboxing, he has created a unique genre: Classical Hip Hop.

CelloJoe records live on stage with a loop pedal and produces intricate tapestries of harmony, melody, and rhythm. His beatboxing (vocal percussion) and funky cello grooves form a rich soundscape for intelligent lyrics and his music spreads love, joy, laughter and conscious vibrations.

By beatboxing, throatsinging, singing, plucking and bowing the cello, CelloJoe can mimic many styles of music from dubstep to folk to rock to classical to hip hop.

CelloJoe is the world's first long distance musical bike touring cellist.
He has ridden his bike over 10,000 miles in the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia.

Joey has been a great cello teacher. I like the fact that his experience covers a broad range of music. When I want to make an arrangement of a heavy metal song, or I need to learn the nuance of baroque performance, he's there.
He's a working musician so his schedule is somewhat variable, but he is good about communicating and always comes when he says he will. He's personable and enthusiastic.

Perfect first session. Michael adapted to Rory's deep understanding of music theory but total lack of knowledge of the bass. He was thoughtful, patient, and adaptive introducing the bass and providing practice suggestions to Rory. I recommend Michael in the highest terms as an instructor for beginners and knowing his vast education and experience in the bass I must assume this travels though the entire range of students - beginner to advanced. We look forward to the next lesson.

I strive to treat each student equally no matter how advance the student are. My job as a teacher is to provide students a tool in life. Students will learn the way life works through the art of music. Should the students decide to pursue music or not in the future, I only hope that students will apply what they've learned in music to their everyday problem solving.

About Johnny
Johnny received his Bachelors of Music at the University of Alabama, under the tutelage of Carlton McCreery, and a Masters of Music at The Boston Conservatory with Andrew Mark. Johnny made his debut performance in 2011, performing Dvorak's Cello Concerto with Albuquerque Youth Symphony under the direction of Gabriel Gordon. Since then, Johnny had many opportunities to work with members of the Russian National Orchestra, Berliner Philharmoniker, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. At the start of my time with my students, depending on their skill level, I will take them through the physics of producing a clean and robust tone while also remaining relaxed and stress free. I focus on music theory as well as ear training to give my students a good musicianship foundation so that cello playing and all music endeavors are more accessible. I guide my students through a range of repertoire until I find what really clicks with the students particular desires and interests.

About Jeff
I am a classically trained cellist and a recent graduate from the Bob Cole Conservatory of music in Long Beach California. My teacher during this time was Dr David Garrett of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Dr, Marlin Owen of the Biola Conservatory of Music. I have been playing cello for fifteen years and have been playing in orchestras for the past ten. I was the principle cellist for the Irvine Young Concert Artists Orchestra for two years and was Assistant Principle cellist In the CUSLB symphony orchestra.
In addition to classical music my time at the Bob Cole conservatory allowed to play in various Jazz ensembles and allotted me some proficiency at improve and composition. I primarily teach classical music but I would very enthused to delve into a more contemporary practice as per the request of the student.

After studying violin, strings, and piano in Boston, at New England Conservatory with Eric Rosenblith, Master Classes with Dorothy DeLay, chamber music with Leslie Parnas and Burton Fine, as well as other Juilliard teachers and studies with Robert Soetens in France, I have been fortunate to enjoy over eighteen years of teaching violin, strings (beginning cello), and piano students. I am currently teaching in the Harrisburg and York, PA areas.

My initial studio experience began during my education at New England Conservatory, where I began teaching young students in the Boston area. Later, I was able to give master classes, private and group lessons in France and Asia as a member of touring orchestras and currently teach private and group lessons as well as providing master classes for select students in all stringed instruments.

My students have continued their college studies at Music Schools, Conservatories as well as gone on to solo and orchestra performing careers.

I am a classically trained musician with a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Florida State University. With a total of 19 years of experience - 11 of those years as a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra - I am capable of teaching multiple styles of music to all ages and proficiency levels. Also a multi-instrumentalist, I have the ability to teach other stringed instruments such as the viola, cello, double bass, guitar, mandolin, and ukulele.

About Toni
I am a professional Double Bass player with a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Florida State University. As a proficient multi-instrumentalist, I am able to teach all stringed instruments, such as the violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, mandolin, and ukulele. With experience coaching and mentoring students who have a passion for songwriting, it has helped them become effective, dynamic, and knowledgeable songwriters.

I teach strings to students of all different ages and proficiency levels. I am a classically trained musician with 19 years experience, with 11 of those years as a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. My competency and versatility as a musician has given me the opportunity to work with children in the public school systems, after school programs, recreational centers, local events, and statewide competitions a
nd conventions.

Every instrument has a unique timbre, so I teach students what their chosen instrument's role is and what it's specific sound is used for. I believe that "practice makes progress," so I encourage each student to practice consistently and efficiently. By applying foundational techniques during practice and performance, it will aid in their continual growth and progress as a musician.

Depending on the goals and preference of the student - no matter the instrument - I highly encourage each of my students to learn to read music/chord sheets, understand and maneuver their instruments fluidly, and challenge themselves to pursue music in any and every way they can.

I firmly believe that learning technique and theoretical knowledge is essential to learning any instrument and any style. Focused practice sessions and learning how to listen actively instead of passively will shape a well-rounded musician, and as the teacher, achieving this with every student is my goal and my passion.

I very much look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!
