I believe that every student has his/her own need because we are all unique as human beings, every one of us has their stronger and weaker skills and my job as a teacher is to find the best tool to pass to the given student.

I am strict but fun, whichever amount the student needs more.

I use the Suzuki books because the songs (and later pieces) in are very good, popular, fun, and evenly progressive.

Achievements depend also on the student and the amount of practicing done at home. I as a teacher can only do that much in passing my knowledge and spur the student own. Practicing at home is very, very important.

About Hrant

Hrant's interests range from the solo cello repertoire to chamber music, teaching, and orchestral playing. As a teacher he has been a faculty member at Yale School of Music, 92nd Y, Summertrios Music Festival, and has held master classes at Yale and the William Blount-Slawson Competition. He has re

She was very thorough..plus her style of teaching will definitely benefit me in the long run!!
Debbie N.
Jeanmarie helped me to learn the proper way to hold the cello and the bow. She watched carefully to be sure I maintained that throughout the lesson. I am pleased that she is going to be sure I learn to play the cello well to prevent injuries. She also gave me some very basic bowing and finger exercises to practice this first week so I begin to build correct muscle memory before I go on to working with sheet music.

"Jessica is by far the best Cello teacher I’ve ever taken lessons from. When I first began with my lessons I was admittedly terrible in many aspects, and couldn’t even hold a bow correctly. However, over just a few years I improved drastically. I now have managed to earn a place in the higher level of my school orchestra, a feat I never could’ve accomplished before I started taking lessons.
I cannot properly express just how much of a help Jessica is to those who want to learn cello and would recommend her any day."

Make sure to take things slowly at first and master the basic concepts before moving on.  When Should You Focus on Your Cello Thumb Position? There have to …
