I have trained as a classical singer since I was 13 years old, and have sung arias from Mozart to Gershwin. In my experience, healthy singing is the basis for singing any genre of music from Baroque to Broadway. There is a tendency to assume that to sing opera, you have to have a LOUD or BIG voice. I disagree. . .I think a well-placed and healthy voice can sing anything. Many of the "old time" bel canto singers such as Caruso or Galli-Curci did not have massive heavy voices, but perfect technique. Did you know, by the way, that a well-placed bel canto voice can fill an entire football stadium without any amplification? Therefore, I stress the basic bel canto principles of singing with every student: breath support, natural vocal placement, and musicality. Every student will also have the opportunity to develop musical skills such as sight reading, ear training, music theory, and diction, but all in the context of a fun and relaxed environment. We will work on the language, ...

About Jennifer
Hello, my name is Jennifer and I have over a decade of experience in teaching, conducting, and performing in the Boston-area. I teach from my home studio in Quincy, Ma and am accepting new students at this time. I look forward to working with you to develop your singing voice, musical literacy, and confidence in performing. I train students in the Italian Bel Canto (beautiful singing) method because it builds strong and healthy voices. I welcome children over age five, older beginners, intermediate students, and amateurs. I believe every student deserves quality musical and vocal training, regardless of whether they intend to pursue a musical career or not. As a teacher and singer, I focus mainly on classical singing which develops a good foundation for other genres. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

I have been working with Jen on music for over ten years. Just recently, in the last 6 months or so, I went to her to help me tackle a specific problem in my voice. Within just a few lessons, she developed an insight into how to help me, and we began to make real progress. I now have a specific pathway in which I am confident that with persistent work, I can overcome this problem. Jen has real insight into the human voice, and true compassion and patience when working with others.

Celeste is the best vocal teacher we've had! She began working with my daughter in middle school and continued for two years. Celeste is kind, intelligent and honest with her feedback. She demonstrates proper singing technique and gives thoughtful advice. Best of all, she listens and inspires her students to be the best singer they can be. To this day, my daughter lists her as her favorite voice teacher. She has motivated my daughter to practice more and seek out more musical opportunities in our community. She's the best!
