I've been teaching beginner to intermediate cello for 1 year. I played cello for 2 years in High School orchestra.

About Olivia
I love to create. The way I'm most comfortable creating is through writing; whether it's a song, a short story, a poem or a script. Writing has always been the bass line in my life; the heartbeat.

Music and film are both passions of mine. I graduated from Berklee College of Music where I studied Songwriting and Music Therapy. I was pushed to my absolute limits lyrically and musically within these majors, and I am so grateful for it now that I'm on my own creative journey.

I have a great deal of experience, but I am also still learning. I think it is very important as a teacher to always be learning, especially through their students. Teaching these lessons is, of course, about progress and advancement - but also about enjoyment, confidence building and positive encouragement.

I can help beginning students on cello learn the basics.

About Thomas
Thomas J. W. is an active music teacher, composer, adjudicator, and clinician in the greater Philadelphia area. He has over fifteen years experience as a concert band director, marching band director, jazz improvisation instructor, choral director, private instructor, and marching drill writer. His directing career has included small rural band programs, small metro programs, large high-achieving suburban programs, and non-profit youth bands. In addition to his band compositions, he also has over forty unpublished vocal arrangements to his credit, most written for use with collegiate men's a cappella groups. Thomas taught over 600 online and local private music lessons in 2016.

Thomas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from The Pennsylvania State University. He holds a teaching certificate in the states of Pennsylvania
and New Jersey and has taught at the secondary level in both states. In addition to both instrumental and choral ensembles at Penn State, Thomas was a student leader in the Penn State Blue Band and a member of the brass section of the Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corps in 1993 and 1994. He served as an Associate Director of the Warren Junior Military Band of Youngstown, Ohio from 1995 to 2005. He also served as a visual staff member for the renowned North Penn Marching Knights of Lansdale, PA for one season in 2004.

He is a current adjudicator with Drum Corps International and Cavalcade of Bands. He is a member of MENC, PMEA, NJMEA, ASCAP, CASA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the National Band Association. He appeared in the Marquis Who's Who Among American Educators in 2004 and 2005, an honor rarely bestowed upon teachers, as students who appear in the Who's Who Among American High School Students must nominate them. He currently is a music teacher at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts of the PA Leadership Charter School in West Chester, PA and resides in Downingtown, PA with his wife and two sons.

Thomas will happily work with students on the autism spectrum or students with ADD.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of each student. If a student is involved in school music ensembles, we will work with their lesson books from school in addition to material outside of the books, including SmartMusic, Noteflight, and teacher-created materials. We will focus on building proper tone production and individual technique - something that often is difficult to learn in a large ensemble setting.

I am capable of starting a beginner student on any band instrument including percussion, any classical string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass), and piano. I can begin a student on drum set and work with them through their first method book, but I would then recommend they find a specialized drum set teacher after a period of six to twelve months.

For advanced students, I work from selected conservatory etude books on developing advanced skills and can work with students on audition pieces for honors bands/orchestras or college auditions.

My lessons are a half-hour once a week, with the option of working for 45 minutes or 60 minutes.

*** Specialties ***
music, band, orchestra, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, violin, viola, cello, string bass, piano, Percussion
classical, jazz improvisation

My son was very nervous about his first online lesson. His instructor had him start right in on the lesson, which helped my son quickly get over his nerves. By the end of the lesson, he was all smiles and feeling very confident about his ability to play a very hard piece for his solo contest. He is looking forward to his next lesson.

It was truly a pleasure meeting Concetta for my first ever violin lesson. It is difficult to learn anything at the age 40, specially a musical instrument, but she made it comfortable and easy to understand. She's extremely patient a key quality when teaching a subject such a music to anyone. I would say, give her teaching style a try and you won't regret it. Very knowledgeable indeed.

Taking cello lessons from Susan has been a wonderful experience for my child, and it has been lovely for me to associate with her. Susan has passion, warmth, and many years of experience. Initially, it can be a bit overwhelming (especially as a parent with little musical experience) to take in all that Susan will throw at you, but soon you will see the benefits of her broad range of knowledge and the holistic education she offers. She covers the many facets of playing cello, including rhythm, reading music, theory, group practices, careful attention to bow hold, tone production, performance, ensemble playing and listening. She is consistent and reliable. My child looks forward to Susan’s lessons each week and has commented, “Susan always finds something good, then gives me ideas on how to make it better.” She puts a lot of time, resources, and creativity into enriching activities that motivate kids to stay engaged and practice regularly. We highly recommend her!

I love playing and teaching the cello, and I'm so excited to share that with you. I make lessons fun and engaging, and you'll leave feeling positive and focused on progress. I believe that the technique should serve the music, so we'll always focus on creating art and telling a story. Cello playing mirrors life, so what we do in the practice room will have much larger applications than you might anticipate! From beginning students learning the basics to advanced players who need a push in the right direction, I aim to help you improve quickly and have a great time doing so.

About Claire
I'm a recent graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where I recently won the 2017 Cello Competition to perform the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No. 1 with orchestra. Previously, I attended Yale University where I earned my Bachelor's degree in psychology. I have spent most of my summers performing at the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado, and I have played in festivals from Indiana to Italy. My cello teachers have included Eric Kim (Jacobs), Richard Aaron (Juilliard), Alan Harris (Eastman School), Maria Kisoupolos (NY Philharmonic), Eric Bartlett (NY Philharmonic), and Wolfram Koessel (American String Quartet). I'm an active performer on the East Coast, collaborating with artists such as harpist Nancy Allen and flutist Carol Wincenc. I have taught almost as long as I have played, beginning with local communi
ty service and growing to teach as part of the Aspen Music Festival PALS program. I live and breathe the cello, and I can't wait to share my passion with you.

My 12 year old son has been taking lessons with Claire online for a couple of months. He had been playing a few years in school but never had an individual lesson. She is helping him create some new habits while improving his technique and musicianship. She is very encouraging and supportive (and fun!). Looking forward to seeing how he progresses in the future!

For the past 25 years, I have been teaching cello, guitar, music theory, and I worked as a performer, arranger, studio music producer, and soundtrack composer. I was a cellist in the Brazilian National Symphony Orchestra for 18 years, and in other projects I have played a wide range of styles, spanning Brazilian music, Brazilian jazz, electronic music, classical music, opera, and accompaniment for classical ballet and contemporary dance.
I believe that students from diverse backgrounds can equally learn the traditional subjects of music study, like music theory, music history, composition, and instrument performance. My aim is expanding the musical universe of the students, by presenting them to styles and genres outside their usual experience. Also, I want to introduce them to the creative process in various forms of art and technology. Additionally to instrument performance, I also can teach them to record and produce their music using computers, tablets or cell phones.

About Luciano
I have a Masters in Music Composition from Louisiana State University School of Music, as well as a Post-Baccalaureate in Music Composition for Cinema and TV, and a Bachelor in Cello Performance from the Conservatorio Brasileiro de Musica. Furthermore, I have been a music teacher and a soundtrack composer for movies and plays in my hometown of Rio de Janeiro. Performing and teaching music has been my dream since I was young. In 1995 I started my Bachelor degree at the University of Rio de Janeiro, my major was Cello and my minor was Classic and Brazilian Guitar. In 1998 I left school to join the National Symphonic Orchestra, and I played as a cellist in this institution until 2016. Studying at the university and working as a cellist with the Orchestra has provided me with a solid knowledge of music, but I have always kept an open mind for
new sounds, no matter the genre, and have played as a cellist in works of many different styles. Additionally, I began focusing on music performance by manipulating different styles and genres. To further expand my knowledge of technology in music, I have studied recording and production processes. Another important concept that influenced me was the experience of performing in free jazz sessions and improvising accompanying silent films in Europe.
