I've been teaching cello for 30 years and my students have gone on to play with different ensembles like symphony orchestras. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play simple songs by reading and by ear and as time goes on you'll be able to play more complex repertoire. I specialize in classical, style but I can teach you different kinds of styles, typically use Kummer method and Suzuki repertoire but I use a variety of method and books. I have the following tools available for your lessons: cello, computer program, sound system, Tuner and Metronome . I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

My professional performing experience began in Medellin, Colombia in 1985 with the Medellin Philharmonic Orchestra where I was their Soloist beginning in 1992 and later on, as First Cello, from 1998-2002.
While in Colombia, I also performed with the Antioquia Symphonic Orchestra and the Antioquia Chamber Orchestra from 1991-1999.
I left my hometown of Medellin to come to the United States where I performed with the
Finally, I settled in Sacramento in 2003, coming here to earn my Master's Degree in Cello Performance while performing throughout the next year with the California State University, Sacramento Symphony.
In Sacramento, I have also performed with the Sacramento Metropolitan Orchestra and with several other chamber groups.
At this time, I am teaching all levels of cello and beginner violin. My students range in age from six to seventy years and enjoy learning in a relaxing environment at their own pace.
I incorporate several different teaching styles to meet each students' individual needs and abilities.

I am an experienced strings teacher with 25 years of experience. I will work with beginning cello students of all ages and provide instruction on proper technique, position, reading music and playing the cello. I am patient and provide constructive feedback and work at your pace.
About Susanna
Susanna received her training at State University of New York at Purchase in 1991, where she received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Music. In addition, she attended the University of Denver, Lamont School of Music in 2000 where she received a Masters in Music. She has studied with Sol Grietzer, Karen Dreyfus and Basil Vendryes. In addition, she received her Music Education K-12 Certification in 1995 from Carnegie Mellon University.
As an expert in her field, Susanna looks forward to helping new students achieve their goals. Her teaching style is positive, supportive, patient and constructive, focused on the individual student's needs, and enjoyable. She will work at your pace and cares about each of her students. Susanna works with students from ages 7 through adults and believes you are never to old to learn.
I recommend weekly lessons for all students to ensure good progress. I can provide information on purchasing or renting an instrument, if needed.
