I have performed in tons of musicals. I have also choreographed some and helped many students prepare for musical performance auditions.

About Carrie
*****I don't have a current background check through take lessons but have an active ongoing background check through another employer ******

I've been teaching and performing professionally for over 10 years. I have my BA in music and business. I have had some amazing experiences along the way. I've worked with world renowned vocal coaches, sang at Carnegie Hall, and played on various cds to raise money/awareness for charity projects. I'm grateful for all of this, but I love working with students on their music most of all. It delights me to see a student have an "aha" moment where they realize that they have what it takes to be great. I'd love to work with you, but if I don't I hope you reach your goals and have fun doing it ! ~ Carrie Jo ~

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm a laid back teacher but you will definitely learn
a lot. I just believe if it starts to not be fun, what's the point? Music isn't just about perfect theory and note placement it's about enjoyment. That's why I tailor make every lesson specifically based on my student's goals. I have students that like a more traditional approach so I use standard method books with them. I also have students that want to learn how to play by ear so we use a less traditional method and I teach them chord structures and how to move around easily on their instrument. My favorite thing to teach is vocal lessons but I love teaching piano and guitar also.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons are taught on an upright piano or acoustic/electric guitar. Student should bring own guitar. No pets. Waiting room out front for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
They need their own instrument.

*** Specialties ***
I've performed at Carnegie Hall and I've had the opportunity to work with world renowned vocal coaches. I offer that as well as techniques that I've developed to help you reach your goals quickly and with great skill !

Carrie was a great teacher for my son! It takes a special kind of person to teach my son and she did a great job at it. Unfortunately Carrie had to move and we are not able to take more lessons with her but we really enjoyed the time we had together.

I received lessons from Katherine over the summer. This was my first time with online lessons, but took lessons before from someone else one on one. The attention to detail, new techniques, and patience from Katherine far out weigh the one on one received. Katherine is an exceptional instructor, knows her stuff, with a wonderful sense of humor to boot. I will be taking lessons again-time and money permit-and she will be my instructor. I highly recommend her for any style of singing. I am skipping my way to a better voice. Thank you Katherine

In these lessons I combine my knowledge of vocal pedagogy as well as extensive personal study of the voice with my background in yoga in order to provide you with a well rounded education of the voice as a full body instrument. Your lesson will be tailored to you and your goals. Whether you are interested in classical music, pop or anything in between, this technique applies to you. It is my true joy to guide students in the discovery of their voice. I look forward to helping you do just that.

Anybody can learn how to sing! I will teach anybody as long as they don't give up and always give their best effort! My three main goals for every student beyond simply singing are: proper singing technique, reading music, and creating characters for their songs. If one way of learning doesn't work for you I will try another until I find what works. I will work with you to find what styles of music you like and what styles work best for your voice.
In lessons I will challenge you also to think about your performances. What did you hear and see that was well done, what needs improvement and how can you accomplish that?

About Hayley
Hello! I am about to go into my senior year at Miami University as a Music Major with a focus on vocal and general music education. I have been trained in singing for almost 8 years now and have experience with music theatre, opera, classical voice, and choral performing. I can help students with a variety of goals to performing/ auditioning or music theory, aural skills, and music reading. I have worked with all ages from kindergarten to adult and will gladly work with any age! This past year I had several vocal students and even helped one prepare and audition for the voice department at Miami and they were admitted. In the past few years I have had multiple teaching opportunities through music education courses and also at a local church.
My focus for students is to encourage musical and performance excellence: proper singing t
echniques, learning to read music, and creating characters for repertoire. My approach to teaching voice is different for every student and what they need. But I will challenge every student to always do their best and improve after each and every lesson.
I will NEVER give up on any student!

I was a student of Hayley's during my first semester in college at Miami University. Hayley consistently paid great attention to detail and helped me to improve in any way possible. She truly cared about my development and sought to bring out my best through both instruction and encouragement. Hayley seems to have an excellent handle on elements of vocal technique and teaches them in a way that is easily understandable by music majors and non-music majors alike.

Hi guys! My name is Juan. I am a professional singer, musician, and music teacher.I have around 15 years of experience with various instruments from drums, guitar, voice, piano, and bass.

I spent three years as a touring and working musician in Argentina from 2012-2015, gigging 4-5 times per week, and that largely influenced my understanding of the necessary skills one must have in order to sing and perform comfortably!

I have studied private voice lessons on my own for nearly 10 years, and taught for around five years. When working with my students, I work through three things: breathing, technique, and range. My students range from first level beginning singers and musicians to already established and working musicians, just looking to better their breathing, technique, and expand their vocal range.

I enjoy making the lessons catered to your own musical desires, so we will be choosing songs that YOU like singing and performing! Furthermore, many of you are in bands or looking ...

About Juan
I am an experienced musician, singer, and teacher. I have five years’ of performing and touring experience, and five years teaching private lessons as well as at the School Of Rock. I like to work with my students on their specific needs/interests/desires as singers. Whether that is on technique, performance, extending range, learning songs, or simply feeling more comfortable with your singing voice, I am happy to help you grow as a singer.

I have studied, sang, and performed a variety of styles: opera, musical theater, classical songs, and have even worked with rock singers.

About Tyler
Tyler is an international award winning composer from the state of Iowa, USA. Tyler has written for many mediums including film, opera, choir, orchestra, chamber and solo instruments, and electronics.

As a teacher, Tyler has taught voice, music theory, sight reading, and composition lessons to students of all ages. He has a degree in music education, a degree in composition, and is currently finishing his final degree.

When taking lessons; you can expect to achieve the following:
Fundamentals of singing
Building singing skills
How to read and write music
How to listen to music
Sight Singing
Scales
Key signatures
Intervals
Dictation
Chords and how they work
How to analyze music

Here are a few reviews from students I have taught:
Mr. S was a great teacher. He was always professional and fair about his tests and
grading. Aside from the basic music theory 1 curriculum itself, he gave the class additional input that gave some of the concepts more context. I learned alot. Most of all, I appreciated his willingness to help me on an individual basis. I don't think I grasped some of the concepts as fast as other students, but Mr. S was always there to lend a helping hand. At times, I'd run into him just as he was leaving the building, but he'd still help me with a homework problem or two. He didn't have to do this, but I'm thankful that he did. I'd recommend Mr. S to anyone wanting to take Music Theory.

Mr. S is an absolutely fantastic teacher. I doubt I would have learned as much as I did throughout the Aural skills sequence at UGA if he wasn't my instructor. He just has a way with teaching and getting concepts across that is very effective. He goes above and beyond to make sure no one in the class ever falls behind, and is very understanding and willing to give extra help. He's so great!.

I love Mr. S, he was very helpful and took time out of his schedule to help me when ever possible! The only thing I would say is try to include more dictations in class, don't focus as much on theory behind it, deffinetly still go over it but just not as much. For example it really did help though when, you would go over the functions of each chord and note. Thank you for a great year!

I thought that Mr. was a very good instructor. He was always willing to meet outside of class to help you with questions. He also tried to explain things many ways when you don't understand. He is very smart and good at what he does. I hope to h

Hello! My name is Lauren, and I am a classically trained mezzo-soprano living on the West side of Cincinnati, OH. I earned my Master of Music degree from CCM in 2014, and I have been performing professionally across the US since. I am most experienced in art song, opera, choral music, and musical theater, but I have taught pop and rock as well. Feel free to tell me all about your interests! I love teaching beginner and advanced students alike, and I have experience working with all ages. When I'm not teaching voice or singing, I am a USTA Tennis Umpire. I look forward to working with you!

About Lauren
I earned my Bachelor of Music degree in Voice from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. While at Eastman, I developed a passion for art song as well as opera. I love working with all age groups! I have been performing Broadway, old standards, and jazz in addition to sacred music since I was sixteen. While I advocate healthy and traditional vocal technique, I am extremely flexible to student repertoire choices and have taught pop tunes such as Bohemian Rhapsody to full choir with much success. My focus is to strengthen student ears so that they may eventually become their own teacher.

About Kristen
I am a professional vocalist, clarinetist, and music teacher that wants you to succeed! I have performed as a semifinalist in international competitions, performed as an orchestra member in three opera productions in Italy, and performed orchestra concerts at Yale University, the New World Center, and other notable venues. Additionally, I have receive full-tuition scholarships to perform in music festivals. I have had instruction through private lessons and masterclasses with acclaimed clarinetists such as Charles Neidich, Frank Cohen, and Ayako Oshima. While I love to perform, I have a great interest in teaching, as a college-level ear training tutor as well as student teaching experience in elementary/high school band, jazz band, high school choir, and music theory. I am a big proponent of music's benefits to the mind-body connection
and I love to incorporate movement-related techniques, such as yoga and breathing exercises, to fully integrate musical and physical exercises

I am a mom at 50 and wanted to learn to play an instrument and learn how to read music - something I always wanted to do. I chose the clarinet. I was nervous and needed confidence. Kristen was able to get a good read on my ability and explain things at my level. She was encouraging and very patient! If I didn't understand something she always had different ways to teach it. She let me choose some music that I enjoy and felt connected to. She has a happy and caring personality and her energy is amazing! I love to listen to her play - its inspiring!
