I've been a cellist since I was 10 years old. I can teach you any genre you want to learn on this surprisingly versatile instrument, and teach students from 5 years old on up. I come from a unique background, though, as my primary instrument is the viola da gamba. There is a strong historical performance element in my cello teaching at the higher levels. Bach should NOT sound like Brahms, and I can show you how to make that difference evident!

Victor is very patient, with us. He is nice and a very good teacher. We have had Victor as our teacher for about 8-9 months now and we have improved so much. FOxtrot is always on time and on a great mood. I could barely play Mary had a little lamb and now I can play Nintendo songs and play the blues.-Luke

As a passionate cello player, I want my students to have fun but also really understand their instrument and the music they are playing! Students will learn their scales through the circle of fifths, shifting positions, vibrato techniques, music theory, and performing with an accompanist. They are expected to have fun but to work hard - it’s totally worth it!

About Melissa

I have been playing piano for 23 years and cello for 16 years. I love sharing music with others and seeing them grow to love music as well. I am currently a pianist for the KC Ballet’s ROAD program. I have a Bachelors of Music from Lindenwood University. I have been a piano accompanist for 7 years.

I decided to take up cello at age 57 as a new instrument. Melissa did a great job teaching proper technique and method and was really aware of my personal goals for what I wanted to achieve. She has a great gentle and encouraging demeanor. I would highly recommend Melissa.

Danielle was a very intuitive teacher- she listened to my goals, and helped provide me with a clear path toward them, conquering some of the basics, scales, pentatonic, and such... but also some of the more advanced nuances like harmonics and vibrato. If you are trying to learn violin or fiddle, I'd recommend Danielle.

"Stephen Moran has been teaching my daughter (10y/o) for the past year. She enjoys the lessons with him so far, and her orchestra teacher has been praising her progress.
I was at first skeptical about online lessons, and it took some getting used to. But Mr. Moran was very helpful and patient with setting things up, and now it's working just fine. It has been honestly a blessing not having to drive her to lessons every week with our busy schedules."

"Ryan was great. He put to ease a nervous almost 8 year old and was very skilled at playing her music "on tap." He hadn't seen some of the music until the lesson but you would never know it. He picked out many great things in her playing that made the overall piece sound better and more developed. We're looking forward to our next lesson."

She is both patient, and supportive; she is highly adept at finding what works for the individual, and personalizes instruction based on what you need to improve. She is also very accommodating, and understanding when there are scheduling changes. I look forward to my lessons every week; they are so much fun!"

"It’s true what the other reviews say about her kindness and patience. Lenna is a warm, thoughtful and generous human being. She also happens to be a gifted teacher and skilled cellist. She is able to correct tiny details in my playing that make a huge difference in sound. Better yet, she approaches it in a way that I might be able to make those corrections for myself, by asking me what I heard first and listening to my observations. Also her approach to practice and playfulness is something I aim to use in many aspects of my life."

"I am coming to the cello as a brand new beginner. I have play around with some fretted instruments, ukulele, banjo, etc. But Irina was super at getting me relaxed, focused on basics and encouraging me with small, but important mechanics and technical details. I have taken other music lessons like sax, so could compare. I totally enjoyed the start of my cello training.
Oh, btw, I'm retired and over 65!!!"

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
