About Catherine

Catherine is a performer, teacher, and arranger. She has performed in world class venues such as Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Kosciuszko Foundation, as well as the Museum of Natural History, and she has performed with over thirty different chamber ensembles, including the American String Quartet and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Her career developments are primarily in music, but she also pursues interest in creative writing, journal writing and human rights. She has given many community performances and raised charity funds for organizations such as World Vision, A. G. Rhodes Health & Rehab nursing home, Columbia Hospital, Corpus Christi Church, and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.

Catherine initially gained her musical inspiration through her family and has been performing since her youth. Her family provided

her countless opportunities to perform, to participate in event planning, and to experiment with new music and arranging. She grew up participating in her mother's studio recitals at home and enjoys an annual family tradition of organizing and performing Christmas programs at church. One of Catherine's projects during her studies at the Manhattan School of Music was the Symposium Concert Series, which has led her to perform in apartment homes around the city and build a community of young artists. She has made countless arrangements for solo viola and viola with various ensembles which she often performs.

Catherine resides in Brooklyn, New York with her husband, Lawrence. She plays on a Raymond J. Melanson viola made in 1987.

I had a great experience because Catherine is an amazing instructor.
She taught lessons with a high degree of professionalism and care. As a novice, I was able to learn a lot because Catherine was patient and attentive to my learning style.

My two oldest children (one more advanced in piano than the other) began taking lessons with Catherine just this year. They have both shown significant improvement and love her as an instructor. They also look forward to practicing in between lessons. We could not be happier.

We just finished our 25th months with Miss Amy as our teacher and are still so very happy to have her! She is the BEST teacher we know! Miss Amy is extremely skilled and very qualified. But the best part of having Miss Amy as a teacher is her endless patience and her sweet ability to get the very best from her students - and it all seems so effortless. We have always taken lessons on line with Miss Amy and even though we wondered at first if we could make it work it has been just perfect! Miss Amy has THE best way of helping our learners get out of lessons what they need and still keep working toward playing better a fun experience. She seems to know when a song may have become a labor rather than a love and just works around those perfectly. Miss Amy, we love you so much. You have truly changed our family. Our sons are complimented on their ability all the time and we get asked tons who our teacher is. We are always proud to tell any one who asks that Miss Amy in New York is our teacher! Thank you, Miss Amy!

If you are in school and are looking to get into all state and need help with school orchestra, or if you are an adult learner and just want to learn how to play, you are at the right place. I am a firm believer of having a good setup and I am excited to share it with you the secret to having good posture, having no soreness when you play, and how to have a good bow hand..etc. If you need help learning how to practice efficiently-that means practicing less but with greater outcome, you can also come to me. Playing the cello should be enjoyable and with the right method that I can provide for you, You will be able to improve tremendously.

About Chialing

I offer piano and cello lessons for all levels and ages in both English or Chinese. My teaching philosophy is to help students set up a good foundation and practice routine. My lessons are engaging and tailored to individual's needs.
I am also an experienced online teacher. Online music lessons offer the opportunity for students who do not live around a suitable teacher to take lessons from. It also gives students convenience and it saves time commuting to teachers. It works the same way as an in person lesson except the teacher is on the screen. It is a good option if you do not have a suitable teacher nearby.
My method is a mix of suzuki books along with right hand and left hand exercise that I have accumulated over the years of teaching. I will give you a consultation on your first lesson to see what kind of material you

need-that includes music theory and ear training if necessary. (you need someone to teach you how to read music right?) I will also make recommendation on your instrument and where to rent or buy them.

I hope this is helpful. Shoot me a message if you have any questions!

I strive to treat each student equally no matter how advance the student are. My job as a teacher is to provide students a tool in life. Students will learn the way life works through the art of music. Should the students decide to pursue music or not in the future, I only hope that students will apply what they've learned in music to their everyday problem solving.

Johnny is experienced in teaching cello. His lessons are always passionate, musical, and informative. There are several aspects of his lessons that I'd like to share.

1. Full of Content: He delivers enough details of a new technique with simplification for an easy understanding.
2. Learning Curve: By breaking down and reorganizing the knowledge, he teaches new concepts step by step, from approachable actions to efficient actions.
3. Customization: He helps you find out a suitable solution to grow on the techniques based on your own physical and cognitive characteristics.
4. Experimentation: The correct ways he suggests you do is demonstrated by experimenting with different ways for comparison, which you would not only know what to do but know the reason behind it.

Cello is a beautiful yet complicated instrument. To enjoy it, a great mentorship is necessary and truly valued.

I specialize in teaching strings; violin, viola, cello, upright bass. I teach ages four and older. If you can tie your shoes you can play the violin. I use the "Essential Elements for Strings" and the "G'DAE" curriculum mainly.

Lessons should be fun, and you should enjoy it more and more each time you come. That is why I teach not only classical music, but current popular music that is played on the radio. I like to hear the student's opinions, and see their reaction when they play songs they can recogni

ze. Sure, technique and posture are taught, but it is in a fun safe environment. I also teach that it is okay to make a mistake. There is no judgment in my class, and if you need more time or more help then that is what you get.

Michelle is an awesome teacher. My children 8 & 11 are taking Violin lessons with her and she has been amazing. She is very easy to work with and both my children are very comfortable with her, even my daughter who is very shy but Michelle finds a way to work with her. I was not sure about online lessons for young children but it has been a great experience.

I love showing other people how to play musical instruments, especially cello! If you're a beginner, I'll get you playing music right away; note-reading, scales, and stuff can come later. If you've been playing for a little while, we can work together to help you learn new skills, new music, and practice techniques that can help you progress quickly while avoiding frustration.

About Sammy

Hello, I'm Sammy!

Making music is one of my favorite things to do. I believe that music is for everyone and lessons are about you, the student. So we can tailor your lessons to whatever you need. Whether you're a beginner, playing/learning for fun, or looking to enhance your playing, I can help you! If my availability does not match up with yours, reach out to me anyway; maybe we can work something out!

I am a graduate of the music program at University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL) where I studied cello and music theory with the Arianna String Quartet. During my time there, I played cello in the university orchestra and in some other smaller groups. I played one season with the Oregon East Symphony and I have played at several church services in the St. Louis area. Currently, I am freelancing and performing with the UMSL Cello Cho

ir.

I also enjoy watching Netflix, cooking, hiking, and eating Indian food.

Thomas and Sammy connected right away. Thomas had a terrible experience last year and following that, wouldn't even pick up his cello without proadding and arguing. This afternoon he picked up his cello and started playing the minute he got home from school. Yea! Prayer answered!

I am a second year cello performance major at the University of Georgia and have been playing the cello for over ten years. I have experience performing and practicing in a variety of ensembles and genres (i.e. orchestras, chamber ensembles, jazz, rock/jam bands, bluegrass, pop). I plan to incorporate music theory and ear training into lessons to help my students become more familiar with their instruments and repertoire. I want to encourage innovation and creativity in each of my students so that they can feel comfortable approaching any musical opportunity.

About Jordi

I am a third year cello performance major and jazz minor (bass guitar) at the University of Georgia. I have been playing classical cello for over eleven years and bass for two.
I am prepared to teach students of any age and give them the tools and adaptability to perform in a variety of ensembles, or simply play music on their own for the joy of playing! I want to encourage students to be innovative and creative while suppling them with basic music theory and ear training that they can implement into their practice and observe in their repertoire.

I want to help you reach your musical goals on cello whether it be solo, chamber, orchestral or other! I teach through the Suzuki Method along with additional materials for advanced students. It is important to be a well rounded musician, so I will work on technique, musicality and performance with students.

About Jade

I am a student at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music doing a double major in Music Education and Cello Performance. My current teachers are Sarah Kim and Alan Rafferty. I have been studying cello for eight years, though I started my musical journey on piano with Mary Craig Powell.
Playing an instrument starts as a hobby and will grow into a part of your life. I believe that every student has the potential to perform at a high level and hope to encourage students to work towards a level of playing they are proud of. I am excited to help you start, or refine your skills in playing cello!

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

By Jessica Dais

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
