Hi All!

For those of you out there who are unsure about whether lessons are for you, or worried in general about singing in front of other people, I'm here to tell you that not only do I think you can do it, but I think you will end up surprising yourself and your loved ones with the talent that you have.

The goal for every lesson is to make sure you become comfortable with mistakes, comfortable working through the process, and proud of the results you get at the end. This is a lesson with no judgement and no expectations other than for you to be you and give it your best shot. There is no homework due at each lesson and I will always provide the most patient and supporting atmosphere possible.

I can play any number of styles from blues and country to hard rock and heavy metal. I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now. I know music theory very well and I'm great with making the theory part fun to learn while teaching to play a style that the student prefers. I'm an easy going guy and really patient. I make the promise to every student that I will give them every bit of effort and support I can to propel them in their music career. I'm one of those people who gets along with everybody and I like to make my lessons fun for each student.

Learn to play lead, rhythm, jam, improvise

Beginner to advanced, ages 12 and up

If you’re just starting, we’ll begin with
Basic technique (holding the pick, struming)
Playing chords
Playing simple melodies

As you advance, you’ll be working on

Good tone production
Keeping solid time
Alternating bass patterns, single-string lead notes
Various picking techniques, dynamics, fingering
Variations, ornamentation, slides, hammers, pulls
Learning your favorite licks
Increasing repertoire
Learning more complex rhythms and improvisations
Developing fast and clean picking

Learn by tab, standard notation, or by ear

We'll focus on tunes you want to play, or take a broader approach incorporating reading music, ear training and theory

I can show you the basics of guitar from tuning to your first chords. My speciality is in rhythm as I am a drum player first. Rhythm is so important to playing the guitar. I also have a strong foundation in the chord and scale theory as well as jazz harmony.
