I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree at the Eastman School of Music in vocal performance and literature. I believe in empowering my students so that they can sing in all styles of music that interest them with ease and freedom. Good singing is good singing and I am comfortable teaching classical, musical theater, pop, jazz, country etc. I like to set up my students with a strong foundation for singing so that they can practice efficiently and overcome vocal obstacles without my instruction.

About Michael
Hello everyone, I am Michael - I am currently in school at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY pursuing my doctoral degree in vocal performance and literature. I have sung all over the world in operas, musicals and with professional choirs. I enjoy teaching all levels of singing and love to inspire my students to reach their full potential. Singing should be fun and it can become even more exciting when the fundamentals start to fall into place. I am a casual but professional teacher and like to tailor my teaching to each one of my students. I like to make singing a very concrete and sensation based learning experience so students can rely on more than just their ears to guide themselves. Good singing is good singing, period - any genre ,any style... it all stems from the basics and setting up a strong foundation on which t
o build the voice.

American baritone Michael most recently performed the role of Lieutenant Audebert in Silent Night by Kevin Puts with Buffalo Opera in New York. Other recent credits include: Sam in Trouble in Tahiti by Leonard Bernstein at the Aspen Opera Center, Marcello in La Boheme by Puccini in San Diego, CA and Tom in Gershiwin’s, Blue Monday with Opera de Tijuana in Mexico. Michael will return to the Aspen Opera Center this summer to sing Frederick Egerman in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. Most recently on the concert stage he was the baritone soloist for the Monteverdi Vespro della Beata Vergine at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City under the direction of Dr. Craig Jessop and Haydn’s Seasons with the Eastman Philharmonia in Rochester, NY. In 2016 Michael received the second-place award in the Palm Springs Opera Guild Rossini Competition adjudicated by the famous Rossini tenor, Rockwell Blake. Michael is currently pursuing a doctorate in music performance and literature at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY where in 2019 will sing the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

I started lessons with Michael having done both contemporary voice and years of choir. But prior to training with Michael, I'd never really been coached as to how to properly sing in a classical style. He's allowed me to find an entire element of my voice I didn't know I had and made it incredibly straightforward to progress. I now absolutely love singing in a way I didn't previously think I would.

Singing has been my passion since the age of 4. The voice is very special - it empowers us to live the lives we desire, communicate with others, and express ourselves. It is my mission to help others discover and develop their voices, thereby freeing them to use it as they choose.

Beyond the functional voice, I teach performance skills, musicianship, music reading, foreign language diction, phonetics, and so much more! I have a Bachelors in Music Education, a Masters in Performance, and a performance resume ranging from jazz to opera.

I love working with singers of all ages and experience levels. I know how to engage with children and adults alike for a productive, enriching musical experience, so whether you are a sings-all-the-time 2nd grader, a recreational karaoke buff, a devoted choral singer, or an operatic baritone, you have a place in my studio.

About Paige
I'm so happy to meet you! My name is Paige, a California transplant from Texas by way of Tennessee. I've taught since 2007 and enjoy teaching singers of all ages and experience levels.

I have a Bachelors in Music Education with a K-12 certification in Vocal Education, as well as a Masters in Performance. I have a strong musical background, having sung in the Texas All - State Choir, University Interscholastic League, and National Association of Teachers of Singing.

When I am not teaching, I actively perform in the Greater Bay Area, singing jazz, choral music, and opera.

Learn how the pros do it!

If you want to learn pop, I'll teach you the same techniques used by Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Bon Jovi, Mick Jagger, and more... because I study with their teacher!

If you want to learn Opera, learn to tackle any audition, gig, or recording session just like Marilyn Horne did. I've got exercises from teachers at the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, and from Marilyn Horne herself to get you right on top of your game!

I've been singing professionally for 16 years. I've sung my own show at Carnegie Hall. I was Gaston in the national tour of Beauty and the Beast and I never missed one of our 326 shows. I can get you on the Gaston regimen in as little as one lesson.

Please message me with your availability and describe your goals before you purchase a lesson.

About Christiaan
Christiaan is a multi-talented performer in theater, opera, and pop music. He played Gaston in the Broadway tour of Beauty and the Beast. Something of a bad boy, he was kicked out of Opera School for singing jazz, yet he went on to earn three music degrees, and work with opera legend Marilyn Horne and avant-garde composer Jake Heggie. Now he's in New York studying with Lady Gaga's teacher and singing his own arrangements of Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5, and John Mayer at Carnegie Hall while writing and recording pop songs in Nashville and the U.K. Look for his new single That's When You Know.

Christiaan enjoys seeing people succeed, so his approach to teaching is a combination of play and practice. Ultimately we sing because we want to bring people joy, yet to do so, we must hone our talents to perfection. By mixing the joy of music with disci
pline, we achieve our greatest dreams.

I've had a great experience taking lessons with Christiaan! I've had about 10 lessons total now. As someone who doesn't have a background singing, I was definitely a bit nervous going into it, but that didn't last long -- Christiaan's friendly and extremely talented. I especially appreciate that he provides context about posture, history, anatomy, etc. and that he took time early on to learn about my goals. Last but not least, I'm happy with my results so far!

The BEST! Lauren is an impeccable musician, teacher, and vocal technician. I studied voice in college at Oklahoma City University and started taking lessons with Lauren after a 4-year break from singing. Since my first lesson, I have seen consistent improvement in my technique and confidence. My voice is the healthiest it has ever been! I am creating sounds that just BLOW ME AWAY!

Lauren has a wide range of students, from beginners to advanced. Opera to musical theater. One thing you can be certain about her is that she has a passion for teaching. Lauren is a great professional! When I started my singing lessons with her, I was not confident about my voice and I was not sure if I would be brave enough to audition for musical theater. She has been helping me to get over my fear and believe in myself more as well as she has taught me techniques that really improved my voice. Now I know that all of this is possible.

Lauren is just amazing; knowledgable, positive and encouraging. I have a vocal tremor meaning my voice shakes when speaking and I lost the ability to sing. With Lauren's help, I am strengthening my voice. I had voice therapy sessions with a medically trained therapist where I made no progress and was encouraged to accept my 'limitation'. With Lauren, I didn't have to settle for accepting my limitation. Rather, I am making huge progress, thanks to her technical expertise, knowledge and encouragement, My speaking tremor is nearly gone and I can sing again!

With more than 20 years or training under my belt, I want to make sure that my students to learn how to communicate and express themselves through music. I believe that you can learn and have fun at the same time. I place a particular emphasis on the actual performance, expressive understanding of music, and interpretation. I teach all genres of music and specialize in audition preparation and vocal dynamics. It’s not enough to just stand up and sing if you can’t express the emotions that a song is trying to convey. Music is meant to make people feel something, and your vocal performance should do the same. I can help you do that and so much more.

About Rashida
I have studied voice for over 20 years and I have extensive training and performance experience with classical, gospel, jazz, and musical theater, as well as art songs. I have a bachelors of music from Oberlin Conservatory and have performed in countless plays, musicals, gospel church choirs and toured overseas.

Who I want to work with:
I’m accepting all levels of students from beginner to advanced. My lessons are highly individualized towards a student’s learning style, vocal abilities, and level of comprehension. I want to work with students who are interested in learning how to sing using proper vocal technique, no matter the genre and who truly want to express themselves through music. I am a firm believer that proper technique and thoughtful vocal maintenance is the key to to creating longevity and overall vocal health and strength
