Let's get you playing the music you've been hearing in your head. Each week, you'll get a personalized practice guide tailored to your goals. I love playing and teaching the cello, and I cant wait to share that passion with you.

My teaching style is as slow as you need, as fast as you can go. Technique should always serve the music, so we'll focus on creating art and telling the story that you want to tell. I'll work with you to create a personalized study plan that is engaging, positive, and progress-oriented.

Lessons are open to anyone, even if you don’t have a cello yet! I have worked with everyone from beginning students learning the basics of holding the bow to advanced players & colleagues looking for a discerning ear.

I generally recommend 45 minutes for beginners, but there's no time limit; I love to dive into details and can work as long as you can!

This year, I founded my teaching studio HelloCello, and I'm so excited to

My experience taking cello lessons from Claire was such a positive one! I decided to learn cello as an adult, with no prior knowledge at all. Claire helped me familiarize myself with the instrument, explained how to care for it, taught posture, technique, etc., all through virtual lessons. She is Very personable, patient, and knowledgable. I highly recommend taking lessons from her!

I have performed on the Cello for over 15+ years. I began playing in my elementary school’s orchestra and from that point I have performed in amazing venues from the Shield Museum in Chicago to a symphony performance with the Washburn University Symphony Orchestra at White Concert Hall in Topeka, Kansas, with countless other in between.

I am entering into secondary education for Cello performance and have been privately trained by Steven Elisha, former Cello Performance professor at Washburn University. In addition to my private training, I participated in audition based orchestral groups all through high school. I have performed pieces ranging in musical composition from modern movie compositions by John Williams to technical pieces by Schubert and Bach.

A lesson with music theory, performance tips, and of course playing music!
I have been teaching for 6 years. In 2013 I received my Bachelors Degree in music from Bluefield College. I have played for the Rappahannock Youth Symphony and the Bluefield College Orchestra and I have in duets and trios with members of the Roanoke Symphony. I enjoy playing music, because music echoes the soul. Everyone may speak a different language, but all musicians speak the same language of notes and rhythm.

About Dawnn

I have been playing violin, viola and cello for 21 years at the age of only 27. I am the Principal Conductor of Ovation Youth Symphony Orchestra. Previously, I was the Assistant Conductor of the Crossroads Youth Orchestra. I have been teaching for 11 years. I have experience teaching children as

At 48 years old, I decided to embark on the life-long desire for vocal lessons. Mr. Blackwell works with me at my pace, as an amateur with a busy professional and home life, and supports me wherever I am in a given lesson. After 8 months of singing together, I have so much more confidence and enjoyment out of singing and like another reviewer said, he makes me feel like I could perform one day (beyond the kitchen, car and shower!).

Mr. Blackwell is very kind and is an amazing teacher. He takes time to help me understand music especially the theory sections. He is not just a music teacher but he is an excellent mentor.

Luther has been very helpful at teaching me the basics while also making sure we move at a pace in which I am comfortable before jumping into any new exercises. I look forward to having him as a teacher for a long time.

"We feel it's our privilege to have Sophie for our kids' cello learning journey. She not only inspires the students, pay much attention on the position and minor stuff in the very beginning to remain a good habit, but also very well organized post-lesson follow up with detailed guide for the practice between the lessons.
Definitely highly recommend Sophie if you are about time looking for a new cello teacher."

"Nicholas was very professional. I've been playing cello for 13 years and have played in many community symphonies. I've never had a private lesson and just learned what I was taught in grad school. Although I was skeptical on online lessons, Nicholas has already shown me some bad habits i have and how to break them and we're already moving on to some hard stuff. I'm excited to where my next 9 lessons will take me. Perhaps even with more lessons on the way. Thanks Nicholas!"

He also took the time to have a conversation with me before the lesson to understand our goals and his methods. I highly recommend him as a teacher."

"Jessica is a very good and kind instructor. Perfect for my 12-year-old who has a sensitive heart when being corrected by others. She is patient and takes the time to come up with creative solutions when something isn't working as it should. As a parent, I appreciate the detailed notes she sends me letting me what happened in the lesson and what she'd like done during practice time. She also provides links to additional instruction videos if she feels like her explanation isn't making sense. I feel like she really goes beyond and wants to help them learn, not just assign practice pieces. Thanks, Jessica! - so glad we found you!"

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification.
