About me:

The subjects I teach are on my profile. Please remember Acoustic Guitar and Guitar are the same thing .

Even though it says my travel is 10 miles max I do make exceptions. Please be respectful of my time and yours. Once we firm down a time and day I stick to that! It becomes inconvenient when I’m rearranging my schedule to accommodate you. So please be sure of what days you might like to do. And keep it the same every week. You will be charged for no show, last minute cancellations. My
time is as important as yours. In my fees includes traveling expense.

I started music at age 5. My parents were both professional musicians. My father was a professional jazz piano player and my mother a classical guitarist. So it is in the blood. I play a few instruments but my favorite guitar and piano. I went to Nassau Community College for Drama/Music.
I toured in theater groups and also was in a few bands while living in NY. I could not make up my mind so I did both. I love both So. Florida here I come in 1991. Since I was new to the area I starting performing regular basis and became well known in the music community.I also went on a song writing spree. I was also able to do dinner theater in between the music. I met some people, music teachers from going to the open mics. They encouraged me to go out and start teaching and do what I was supposed to do. How it happened ? I placed one small ad, got a call and from there it grew into over 80 students.I just was referred to everyone it was a chain reaction.
In between teaching I was also in a duo and made time for the touring, local gigs, etc....released 3 CD's.
I was very busy that I decided to open up my own music school to handle the over flow of students. I had my business for 9 years.
I produced a lot of talent from there.songwriters with published songs, singers with contracts, bands the guitarist in the now defunct band Hey Monday with Cassidy Pope. Students that were in American Idol- featuring Emily Booke 2 years in a row top twenty then top ten..
America's Got Talent featuring Amy Profaci, Cassidy Pope.
Played for the Boss in RPB with Odd Man Out, Teen Punk Band since disbanded. Had them out and playing gigs at age 14 the youngest oldest 16 at CBGB's. In NYC. They were on the Regis and Kelly show. Students that started with me at age 5 and stayed for years. A lot are off to college or done with school grown up sort of. When they bump into me and say hey Ms. Mel I'll never forget you teaching me music lessons or do you remember that or I loved that band class you did. You changed my whole life.
I really appreciate it and I did make a difference in their lives.
I also write for TV and Film and have over 30 professionally published songs. Songs playing on commercials, TV and overseas in England. They seem to love it over there a lot of fan mail.

Ok this is as follows.
*** Lesson Details ***
Cancellations : 24 hour notice. Make up lessons are at my discretion.
61 key keyboard are ok for piano lessons.
You must have a piano for vocal lessons if I come to your home. You must have a guitar 🎸 for guitar lessons. I do not supply any instruments or lesson books. You are required to contact me once booked and find out what you will need.

How long will it take to learn depends on YOU!!!!

Practice is the answer not a question. You must be prepared to work to do the work. If you do not understand it we will do it until you get it.
My Adult students this goes for you too.
It is important that you practice. So I recommend cutting down on video games and TV.
I suggest no TV or Video games especially before the lessons are about to start. Very distracting for the kids.
I expect you to be practiced and ready to go when I get there. If you want to be a rock star that's what it takes, discipline.
Its great when a parent can sit in while I'm teaching your child. Remember I am teaching you as well.
You will be helping your child practice during the week until the next lesson.
For the guitar there will be complaints of hurting finger tips.
I cannot do anything about that it comes with guitar playing.
For the like piano, the fingers will not hurt.

After 3 to 6 months for the older student I expect all 6 strings to be complete and chords and strumming on guitar and learning songs of your choice.
Piano - Sight Reading and being able to play with 2 hands in the key of "C" with ease.
This will only happen with practice, And learning songs of your choice if you choose to.

Small ones as much time as they need depends upon how long it takes for them to learn it and how much time mom can help practice.

*** Studio Equipment **
Right up Piano,
Small 15 Watt Amp

**Supplies:
I do not supply instruments for any student. Parents you are
expected to purchase a 61 key keyboard of your choice and finances.Same goes for guitar. We will figure out the size you or your child needs. You must purchase your own books. I use Bastiens Primer A red book, Bastiens A Pink Book, along with these books they also have a theory book , performance book and technic book. Bk 1,2,3 also have a series of book 📚 to work with.

Guitar 🎸 I like to use Fast Track Bk 1 w/o CD. Then again they are becoming obsolete

Whether a beginner, intermediate or advanced my lessons will help you reach your goals.

About Mike
I teach all styles of music and all levels of ability

As I look back at my life, I see that music was my constant companion. My passion for music, and more specifically for the guitar, goes back to the time when, as a ten year old I received a guitar for my birthday. The sound of the instrument truly struck a chord in my heart and I learned to respect and love the instrument to the point that I thought of it almost as a companion, as something alive or, more exactly, as something my fingers could make come alive. At first I wanted to play rock and popular music, but eventually I switched to classical. When I entered the realm of classical music, a whole new world opened up for me -- new feelings, new emotions, and new challenges.
My enthusiasm for music continued, and beginning in 1990 I attended the Hartt School of Music, part of
the University of Hartford. I knew, of course, that the education of a musician is truly never finished, and between 1995 and 1997, I took Master Jazz Classes in New York City, under the direction of Dennis Cinelli, the international guitar player and soloist.
While in Florida, I attended classes at Florida International University. Between 2000 and 2003 I played in an orchestra on board the ships of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.
All along the way I have been teaching the guitar at just about every level, an activity that I always enjoyed but admittedly is somewhat limiting. Teaching brings us back to the basics, but for a musician performing is what makes us grow professionally and satisfy us emotionally.

My goal is not so much teaching one how to play an instrument, but more broadly, to help one cultivate their own living musicality. My own areas of practice, study, and specialization are in free improvisation, sound art/Sonic sculpture, conceptual performance, and songwriting/composition. I've explored a vast number of different styles and genre. Jazz, classical, folk and bluegrass, spirituals, blues, punk rock, contemporary ghospel, electronic dance and ambient, to name a few... I love working with kids, I love teaching any age any skill level, I promise to listen, and fine tune our lesson to fit your specific personality and needs.

About Andrew
I've been practicing and studying music for nearly 12 years. Conceptual performance, free improvisation and Sonic sculpture for over 5. For me, music isn't just about playing an instrument. A musical practice is an opportunity for incredible self growth. Excercise for our minds and awareness.

I've worked with students ranging from age 3 to age 62 in the year or so I've been tutoring. I've taught piano mostly ,but am more technically proficient with guitar(electic/acoustic/classical).

I'm a songwriter and recording/performing artist, my style is very ecclectic and inspired by anything from classical, jazz, avant garde, to pop and folk music. I'm confident and versatile. Im comfortable playing or even performing with most instruments. It's taken alot of practice, reasearch, experimentation, and collaboration but over time musc has give
n my experience life and enriched my life and those around me.

I believe in the cultivation of a living musicality.

My approach emphasises the importance of process, exploration and discovery, as well as the study and analysis of traditional concepts. I propose, active listening to be the simplest form of composition. And as musicians an active ear is central, not only in practice, but generally, for creative evolution and innovation.

I've found the most effective methods effectively balance theory and practice.

I believe the biggest inhibitor to growth, musical or otherwise, is a lack of confidence. A lack that comes from too much pressure to produce idealized results-- fear of mistakes...

I embrace the developmental process,
I work with every student to make each lesson plan efficient, meaningful and inspiring.

I teach based on what my students need, and cater to their specific learning styles. I take time in the beginning to help the student get acquainted with their instrument and the nature of how it works, as I have found a deeper understanding of this greatly helps learning across the board. Lastly, music is meant to be fun, so I always try to create that kind of environment and explain things as simply as possible.

About Nicholas
Hi! My name is Nick and I have been teaching guitar, piano, and songwriting lessons for 2 years both privately and also as part of Oaklawn Music Studio in Rhode Island, and St. Maria Goretti School in Long Beach, CA. I have played the guitar for 11 years, been singing for 7, played piano and ukulele for 4, and producing/mixing/audio-engineering for 2. I moved from my home state of Rhode Island to Los Angeles in 2016-2017 and attended the Los Angeles College of Music in Pasadena, CA to earn a Certificate in Music Composition (Songwriting) and have written over 150 songs myself. I have played several live shows around Los Angeles and Rhode Island at farmers markets, art shows, coffee shops (humble venues), and have served as a session instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and engineer for numerous studio sessions around Los Angeles. I am currently a working musician in a popular local band from Miami.

This has given me the opportunity to work with some amazing musicians, Grammy award winning producers, large music festivals with artists from all over the country and have learned the joys and perils from life on the road.

In addition to that, I was the Music Director at School of Rock and taught, guitar, bass, drums and vocals to many students there.

So in addition to teaching you how to play like a monster, I'm also going to teach you practical things, such as basic care of your instrument and how to approach live performances.

About Rod
I perform in the band Xotic Yeyo as the bass player. We are a popular band in Florida and perform all over the state. We have released an EP and Album, and depending on when you are reading this, we are either about to, or have just released our latest single. All of this can be found on spotify and all other streaming services.

I also served as the Musical Director at School of Rock Boca Raton and shepherded the school through it's opening. I taught guitar, bass, drums and vocals to many of the school's current top students and also hired many of the instructors currently serving at School of Rock. I also led several band classes, where I molded a group of students into a band and readied them for live performances.

I am also an experienced sound engineer and producer, having several songwriting credits in T-Pain's stable of artists. C
urrently I own a recording studio in Boca Raton where I occasionally will record projects that really excite me.

In addition to that, I run a concert promotion company, where I organize live events and one-day music festivals throughout the Florida Treasure Coast.

My knowledge of music is very hands on, I know how to fully service any of the instruments I own and also much of the production gear. I know the nuances of different instruments and how that can affect the sound one might be looking for.

With me as your teacher, you will not only know the how, you will also know the why.

I like to base what we learn on what the student wants. I like teaching them their favorite songs so they can play it for their friends. I also have tutored music theory and I can teach students how music works, and how they can write their own songs. I'm an award winning composer and songwriter here in Nashville, and I love teaching others the tips and tricks that have worked for me in Music City.

About Gavin
Hi!
Whether you want to be able to play your favorite songs, or accompany yourself when you sing your own songs, I can help you do that! I can help you truly go in depth with our lessons so you have a real understanding of guitar. Something you can eventually use professionally if you desire. I come from a background of classical composition and songwriting. I've been in the music industry for 6 years now, and I know what knowledge is useful for guitar, and what is stuff you'll never really use. I like to cut the extra useless stuff off of the lessons so you can get to where you want to be as quickly as possible. I'd love to help you discover how much you love guitar, and have a talent for it.
