My students have spanned every age, experience level, and walk of life through the years... Some wanted to join a band, some wanted to go on to music school, some were aspiring songwriters, and others were simply interested in an awesome hobby! I've been teaching acoustic guitar for over 13 years and teach a mix of playing technique, music theory, ear training, as well as working on songs and styles of playing that the student is interested in. Along with my teaching experience, I have plenty of stage and studio experience as well which allows me to bring those things to the table. More real world and less dry and academic you might say...

About Cameron

STUDYING WITH ME: Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine

Cameron is an excellent teacher for me. I am 11 years old and have been playing for almost a year with him. He is patient and makes me stretch to be a better guitarist. He takes time to find songs at my level of learning and accommodates my tastes in music. I would recommend him for anyone who is interested in playing guitar.

I enjoyed my first lesson with Cameron. He explained things clearly so I could understand. Can't wait for my next lesson.

A solid teacher with a lot of experience

Cameron is great at tailoring the lessons to my musical taste without compromising the theory, basics and fundamentals.
I have been taking lessons for one year and will not go elsewhere anytime soon. His vast musical knowledge helps merge the theory with concrete examples. No question remains unanswered.

I have been a student of Tim’s for a little over a year now. I started playing guitar at age 52 and when I started with Tim I was very close to giving up or settling on just being able to strum a few chords. I have had many hand injuries in the past that have resulted in arthritis and lack of dexterity in my wrists and some of my fingers and I started doubting I would ever be able to progress in my ability to play. From the very first lesson where I told Tim about my hand issues and my frustrations, he told me he was sure we could work around any physical limitations I had, and he was right. Tim has been able to work with me on alternative ways to play the chords I was having trouble with and has shown me that these alternate techniques along with the bit of music theory he sprinkles into lessons can really expand my ability to play.

In the time I have been studying with Tim, I have done more than I thought I ever could. I went from a frustrated beginner guitar player to having enough confidence to play on stage with some of Tim’s other students and I am now looking forward to what I will be able to do on the guitar instead of being frustrated with what I can’t do.

Tim is a talented and passionate musician as well as a knowledgeable and very relatable instructor which is a rare combination and he's also a really great guy and any student of any age or ability will benefit from studying with him.

Tim is an excellent guitar teacher and an overall great guy. He provided me with structure and support, enabling me to make the most out of my practice and ultimately progress as a player. His warm personality and contagious enthusiasm for music kept me looking forward to our time together each week. He was also very flexible when it came to scheduling to accommodate for my dynamic schedule.

Ever since Alyssa was 8 years old, she has had a passion for music. Currently Alyssa is minoring in General Music Studies at SDSU. For 2 years she studied under classical guitarist Sean Basset at San Diego State University. Each students lessons will be catered and approached differently based on the students individual goals. Typically, I give students some exercises to help improve techniques and also allow them to pick repertoire they would like to work on. I encourage each student to try and apply some music theory to each repertories or songs they take on. I highly encourage that each student also practice sight reading with their instruments. It is important for a student to develop the ability to read music as well as train their ears musically. I encourage each student to take the time and practice outside of weekly or bi-weekly lessons. The only way to see real growth is for one to put work in. I will work alongside the student as well as work together to open up that very ...

“I teach all ages, 7 years old and up, at any level, and in all styles of music including rock, folk, blues, reggae, classical, funk, afro beat, traditional and free jazz, as well as advanced avant-garde concepts. All of my lessons are geared toward the individual students’ needs in transcription, composition, reading, improvisation, theory and performance. I like to create an environment that is friendly and laid back while addressing the personal goals of the student. I also teach special needs kids.”

"In 2001 I was asked if I could teach children with autism. I never could have imagined the amazing rewards and loving reciprocation I would receive from these truly gifted children and their families. Now, more than 19 years later I've had the pleasure of teaching scores of children with autism. It's been one of the single greatest joys of my profession as a musician watching these amazing children grow and flourish. I feel a true calling and blessing in my uncanny ability to connect

"I've only had one lesson so far, but Rachel did a great job. She is knowledgeable and very talented. I'm excited to continue on my rockin' acoustic guitar journey. I highly recommend her as she was super nice and very kind to come get me at the bottom of the hill, so I can find her studio in the future. I'm a newbie at guitar and don't know very much but she encouraged me & I can't wait to get further into it."

"I had my first class with Paul. The session was amazing, Paul is really good at explaining the details of progressions. He's friendly and gets the class moving in the right direction at the same time so you don't end up getting too bored with instructions or while away the time chatting away(which isn't so bad for a first class). I will be sure to update the rating and provide more feedback as I go through more lessons. I really like how Paul doesn't force you to take a package of classes as with some of the other instructors I've heard about."
