Cello lessons in my studio, at your home, or on-line.

About Jessica
I have 20 years of playing experience along with a Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance. I was the section leader of my university's orchestra as well as a full-scholarship member of the university quartet. As a professional gigging musician, I have played with Il Divo, Mario Winans, La Jolla Symphony, Doctor's Symphony, Porta Caeli Chamber Players, and the quartet La Dolce.

I am a member of MTAC (Music Teacher's Association of California) and can sign my students up for Certificate of Merit. This is a music study program with an annual evaluation and written assessment. Stand-out students will be invited to play at the Branch Recital.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons differ slightly depending on the student. In general, it starts with scales for intonation or working on vibrato, moves on to an etude or exercise, and culminate
s with work on a piece of music. But not every student works well with this method, so I will add in some musical worksheets and ear training games for those that require lessons with more variety.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can come to your home to teach. I will bring all necessary method books and teaching materials.

I love playing and teaching the cello, and I'm so excited to share that with you. I make lessons fun and engaging, and you'll leave feeling positive and focused on progress. I believe that the technique should serve the music, so we'll always focus on creating art and telling a story. Cello playing mirrors life, so what we do in the practice room will have much larger applications than you might anticipate! From beginning students learning the basics to advanced players who need a push in the right direction, I aim to help you improve quickly and have a great time doing so.

About Claire
I'm a recent graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where I recently won the 2017 Cello Competition to perform the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No. 1 with orchestra. Previously, I attended Yale University where I earned my Bachelor's degree in psychology. I have spent most of my summers performing at the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado, and I have played in festivals from Indiana to Italy. My cello teachers have included Eric Kim (Jacobs), Richard Aaron (Juilliard), Alan Harris (Eastman School), Maria Kisoupolos (NY Philharmonic), Eric Bartlett (NY Philharmonic), and Wolfram Koessel (American String Quartet). I'm an active performer on the East Coast, collaborating with artists such as harpist Nancy Allen and flutist Carol Wincenc. I have taught almost as long as I have played, beginning with local communi
ty service and growing to teach as part of the Aspen Music Festival PALS program. I live and breathe the cello, and I can't wait to share my passion with you.

I have been studding strings from age 8, starting on violin. I switched over to cello when I turned 13 and received scholarships to potentially attend the University of Pacific in Stockton, CA. I instead studied cello at the University of California, Santa Barbara where I had the opportunity to perform in the university's symphonic orchestra and teach private lessons to college students as well. I have experience teaching from the Suzuki method, but consider myself to be a flexible educator and teach many methods according to the needs of the student.

About Megan
I am an experienced and well-rounded musician of nearly 22 years. I have studied the piano, cello, and clarinet throughout my life and am currently a freelance performer in Colorado Springs. I have taught professionally since 2009.

I attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, Clarinet Performance in 2013. I received a GPA of 3.3 and studied and performed both clarinet and cello. In 2015, I graduated from California State University of Sacramento with a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music with a 4.0 GPA. I mainly performed clarinet at the university, many local ensembles, chamber music, and I even had the opportunity to perform abroad in the United Kingdom in 2016.

I taught elementary band with the San Juan Unified School district from 2013-2015. While I was pursuing
my teaching credential, I student-taught in Davis Joint Unified School District from 2014-2015. Then, I was employed with Twin Rivers Unified School District from 2015-2017, where I had the privilege to teach elementary general music and choir to students learning English as a second language, students of special needs, and in addition, students from very low income homes. Most recently, I taught elementary general music, choir, and band with the Galt Joint Union Elementary School District from 2017-2018.

I recently moved to Colorado Springs because my husband is a newly commissioned officer with the United States Air Force Academy Band, stationed at Peterson Air Force Base here in Colorado Springs. We have loved our experience so far in Colorado and love to explore the outdoor activities and sight-seeing in our free time.

Megan is an excellent musician & yes, a kind and gentle person. But, please know, she is one of the most self-motivated students I ever encountered! Performed recital not required at an extremely high level of musicianship - and after graduation, successfully pursued a performance career! I’m certain that she’s great at sharing her knowledge - but also her enthusiasm is extremely contagious! Whether clarinet, cello, or piano, you (or your student) must experience her joy of music and of life in general!

Experienced teacher of 3 years with a specialization in beginning/intermediate cello students. Lessons will cater to the needs of each individual student with a focus on a strong technical foundation. As a teacher, I concentrate on engaging students in their learning and aspire to inspire students to discover the joys and benefits of learning music. Not only will students learn to play the cello but they will have instruction in note reading, music theory and ear training. I believe that music should be enjoyable for students and strive to make meaningful connections with my students, positively influencing their musical lives.

About Naomi
I am a performer and teacher, specializing in cello. I graduated with a bachelor and master degree in music performance (cello) from Ball State University (Indiana). While a student, I had a multitude of teaching experiences ranging from music theory, music history, ear training, and English as a Second Language.

For the past three years, I have taught beginning/intermediate cello students. My teaching experiences began at a non-profit community music camp, Music for the Sake of Music, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. During this experience, I found a passion for teaching beginning students because of the fundamental need to provide a solid foundation. These early teaching experiences also inspired my teaching philosophy. Students can expect to focus on technique while simultaneously working on challenging and exciting repertoire. Although ther
e is an emphasis on strong fundamentals, I strive to demonstrate the fun and beneficial qualities of studying music. Music should not be a chore but rather a source of creativity and enjoyment.

I am open to teaching students of all ages and levels, although the majority of my experience is in beginning and intermediate levels. I've studied the cello for 14 years. I have experience in tutoring music theory, sight-ear (ear training), and music history. Also, I have been certified through the National College Learning Center Association, completing training that emphasizes engagement of students. Through this training I've learned how to help students learn independently and overcome challenges through trial and error. In music, these skills foster efficient practice techniques that often lead to a quickly developed technique.

As a performer, I have played in many regional orchestras throughout Indiana such as the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, Muncie Symphony Orchestra, and Kokomo Symphony Orchestra. I also have experience performing outside of a classical setting, especially in recording. In previous years I have recorded on pop albums for independent artists and composers. My most notable experience includes recording with Tony Award winning actress and singer, Sutton Foster on her newest album Take Me to the World.

Studying music is not about achieving perfection; it is about creativity and joy and obtaining skills that transfer to numerous fields. I look forward to meeting you and helping you develop a wide variety of skills that will enrich many parts of your life.

My musical background is extremely diverse, so virtually anything you want to get out of our lessons, I'll be able to give you. I have studied both the classical and jazz methods extensively with many influential teachers that are still active in the music scene. This experience has taught me how to apply each method, depending on the situation, to produce the best results possible. I have comprehensive knowledge of the standard classical and jazz repertoire, and can easily develop an effective plan of study for any student, at any level. I also write a fair amount of music, so depending on the student, that could become a large focus of our lessons. Most importantly though, I know how to keep a lesson interesting and how to engage a student of any age and skill level in a way that will motivate them to work on their craft consistently and effectively. Really excited to work with anyone interested in getting something out of music!

About Philip
I am a cellist, bassist, and composer living in Miami right now studying at the Frost School of Music. I have been heavily involved in both the jazz and classical traditions for the past six years, and I have gleaned a lot of wisdom that I hope to impart on the next generation. I try to be the most compassionate teacher possible, and I pride myself as someone who deeply understands the learning process.
I have spent the last fifteen years building both my classical and jazz repertoire, so I have a great idea of how to build a plan of study for any student of any level. Despite my experience in these two well-established music traditions, I am a massive proponent of listening to and experiencing as many types of music as possible. Once we work through technique, we could get into more contemporary music, or virtually anything that has art
istic merit. Learning a musical instrument is incredibly beneficial to the development of the psyche and brain, so I will do everything in my power to keep my students engaged and enjoying the process. I really look forward to working with any and all of you!

Music provides a way to connect to the part of our world that only feelings can describe. It could be your favorite pop song or a sonata that was written centuries ago. In my lessons, I provide a space for you to better understand that special connection we all have to music. I've had the experience of teaching those from different generations for several years. Whether you are just starting out or have been involved in music throughout your life, my lessons will provide you with the opportunity to explore the truly wonderful gift that music can provide us. What draws you to love music? It is my passion to guide your path and help you find and unlock the doors to a greater musical experience.

About Alexander
I am a professional cellist with several years of experience on Violin, Viola, Double Bass, Piano, and Voice. I graduated from Long Island University with my Bachelors of Music concentrating on String Studies.

Students can expect to find an environment that will allow for an easy way to improve each week. Whether is technique, expression, rhythm, music theory, or any area that we explore that can use more foundation, I will provide you with a structured way to achieve your goals. You can expect a release in tension through the lesson and be able to play and perform with more freedom and confidence.

I am available to provide lessons for all ages and levels of experience. I have always had a medium to connect to music throughout my life. I began first studying the Piano at the age of 6 and progressed onto string instruments throughout gr
ade school. My passion for music drove me to want to understand more about what I loved. In university, I studied Cello as my primary instrument which provided me with several hours a day to connect to the Cello. I also studied piano and voice for my four years there with amazingly talented and well known musicians. My experience at college also provided the opportunity to get to know the predecessors of our modern day instruments. Performing on period instruments such as viols and the harpsichord gave me a deeper understanding of the inner workings of our present day instruments.

I teach piano students of all different ages and experience levels. I studied classical piano for 16 years, and contemporary keyboard for 7 of those. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence, to learn how to play contemporary music using chord sheets, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student.

My experience at college provided me the chance to travel and perform in highly regarded performance halls such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Tilles Center. I have toured Europe performing with a string ensemble and a choir which allow me to learn and share music in several countries and cultures.

My personal passion in teaching music is finding ways that provide an ease to learning something new. Being educated in Alexander Technique, I brings me much joy to find a release in tension when road blocks arise. I will work hard to make learning easier to understand and grasp, releasing any built up tension and anxieties along the way.
