Beginning guitar is all about finding the motivation to get the student through the first stages. You'll have fun while learning good habits and getting your fingers to the point where they can play what you want.

The best guitar lessons are multi-faceted from the beginning. You start playing songs right away, all the while learning other things about music, good habits, simple songs, and helpful hints.

No experience is necessary to start picking up simple techniques that get you musical as soon as possible. Even at the very beginning, when we're learning simple scales and chords, every effort is made to help exercises not merely produce the tones required, but in a musical, emotionally-connecting way.
Music is the language of emotion, and you can learn that language.

We focus on:

Personal service,

Keeping the student interested and having fun while learning,

Working at the pace of the individual students,

Keeping the student's goals in mind,

Helping the student break ...

Students will learn how to read as well as play: notes, chords, scales, songs, common chord progressions, guitar tab, and chord charts and a whole bunch more! Ear training, chord theory and improvisation will also be incorporated into the lessons.

I generally walk students through a guitar method book. ( a few examples listed below)

Hal Leonard guitar method by will Schmid Level 1-3

The Christopher Parkening Guitar Method - Volume 1: Guitar Technique

Some primary goals I have for students are to keep them motivated, interested, inspired and challenged.
I love music, and it should be fun, exciting, and entertaining!

You will learn a lot with me and we'll have a good time doing it!

If I could give Brian 10 stars, I would. He is enthusiastic, present, supportive and highly knowledgeable. Learning instruments has always been a challenge for me , but Brian makes being a banjo beginner an absolute joy. I look forward to practicing every day, and can really hear my progress - which amazes me because it's only been just over a month. I can see myself working with Brian for the long haul. He puts me at ease, and always gives great responsive tips that improve my playing immediately. I feel SO lucky to have stumbled across his profile.

I look forward to working with Brian. He's easy going, funny and patient, but very knowledgable and goal focused.

Sean was really on the spot with us. I am a beginning strings instructor, and my son didn't want to take lessons from anyone but me. Not only did Sean win me over with his pedagogy, but he won my son over as well.

"Albert is a musical genius and a perfect teacher. For years, I wanted to build on my guitar playing as a kid, improve and learn how to play my favorite songs in fingerstyle (Albert teaches all styles), but I could never find a teacher. I finally found Albert, literally almost twenty years ago. With his help, I tremendously improved and learned to play some great songs. I would bring in a CD with a great solo version of songs like Eleanor Rigby, Albert would figure out the tablature for it, and he'd help me learn it. We've done that with more songs that I can count Since I met Albert, YouTube came along, and now it's even easier to find great fingerstyle versions of songs on which I can work with Albert. My schedule does not permit me to see Albert and practice as much as in the past, but I still play, and ask Albert to help me with new arrangements I've found. I am not inherently musically gifted, but I have sufficiently improved that people have sometimes stopped to listen to me play when I'm shopping in guitar stores. I cant imagine there's a better person out there to help you achieve your goal of being able to play well."

"My son Mike took lessons from Matt for 2 years and really enjoyed it. He and Mike really hit it off. Matt has very advanced active listening skills and really tunes in to providing his students with a positive learning experience. Matt's passion is music, and he wears it on his sleeve. He has quit his "day job" and totally dedicated himself to music. When he isn't teaching, he's either learning or playing somewhere. Thank you Matt for being such a positive influence on Mike's life"

"Working with Andrew has been an amazing experience. He teaches my son guitar, bass, a little piano, music theory... really, he can teach anything you request. Their time together hasn't skipped a beat since we switched from in-home to online lessons. Andrew can pretty much do anything and play any song my son requests to learn. He keeps him on track to progress through lessons and also finds time to just jam with him for fun. Andrew is the best!"
