Chandrika is a wonderful instructor. She is very, very nice, well organized, on time, encouraging and knowledgeable. I am an older student, just one month from 68. I have had many music teachers and taught piano myself for 25 years. I am so glad I found Chandrika. I drive 1 1/2 hours one way to every lesson and am happy to do so. Having a teacher with Chandrika's qualities is terrific. I recommend her highly for any aspiring student.

Chandrika was absolutely amazing! She was extremely knowledgeable, and very helpful. These were entry level lessons for me and the cello, and she did a terrific job of introducing me to the instrument. She's very friendly and fun to learn with. I would highly recommend Chandrika to anyone wanting to learn the cello!

About Don
I graduated from Juilliard (BA) and played 3 years with the New Jersey Symphony after which I moved to Europe where I was Principal cellist with a Swiss Orchestra ( Biel ). I teach the Leonard Rose bow arm technique. I believe he had the best bow arm in the business.

I work with the bow arm first with beginners and advanced players to get a better bow grip, bow stroke and bow change. The rudiments are important!

Aaron teaches piano to my 8 year old daughter, Abby. She is shy but loves piano and she very much looks forward to his visits! He customizes her lessons to her skill level and interests. No question he is a serious musician, but he is also laid back and funny which is perfect for young kids as it puts them at ease. Abby is thriving under Aaron's instruction, I'm so glad we found him!

Cello Lessons, Cello technique, Cello Jazz, Cello Pop, Cello classical, Cello improvisation

About Ted
Hello to my prospective future students!
My name is Ted and I teach in the Denver/Lakewood area. I've been playing cello for 10 years and have experience in almost everything performers are doing with the cello in the 21st century, including: Classical performance, recording, gigging, improvisation, looping and effects, and arranging cello performances of many pop songs.
I teach with a set curriculum in mind that bends to where my individual students' passions lie; no matter what your goal is with the cello, I believe l will be able to guide my students in achieving it.
The biggest factor that keeps me dedicated to the cello is how much fun I have playing it, and I do my best to create this passion in my students. Here is the closest thing to a mantra I can write:

Hard work and discipline (not to mention having fun) can cre
ate many opportunities for an inexperienced cellist. As a teacher, I to create the same passion for music in students that I have enjoyed and wrestled with throughout my career. I employ a similar teaching style to the best professors I have studied under, but also realize the relevance of the cello to modern music and therefore teach any genre on cello. The best reason to learn an instrument is so that you can eventually transcend it.

Below is a short biography:

Ted Leininger began playing cello after listening to a video game soundtrack that had a great cello part in it. After that, he never stopped. Starting as the last chair cellist, he was in an advanced orchestra group by his senior year of high school.

At Metro State University he studied under Charles Lee, the Principal cellist of the Boulder philharmonic. He thoroughly studied classical technique before transferring to UCDenver as a double major in Cello performance and Audio Engineering. He studies various types of music, pursuing genres like Jazz and Bluegrass in addition to Classical. He regularly performs with independent singer-songwriters and is actively gigging as a studio musician and band member.

After more than a decade of experience teaching and playing cello, my students have gone on to play in prestigious youth orchestras, form bands and quartets, and to study music in college. I help students to set feasible short and long-term goals based on their interest level. Some students want to grow up to be professional musicians, while others want to just play as a hobby. I support my students in any cellistic creative endeavor they want to pursue.

My lessons are very experiential. I give frameworks and challenges to my students and let them figure out many answers by themselves, step by step, so as to make them independent musicians, not dependent on a teacher's presence. We not only cover technique fundamentals, but also the most effective ways to practice; stage presence training, energy management, the cello world and culture and more. My work aims at fulfilling the student's goals with the instrument and with music.

About Giorgia
I started my solo and backup singer career at the age of 12, working for RG Recording Studio (Italy). When I was 15 I founded a children's choir (ages 5 to 15) called Voci di Pace. I trained them as soloists and as an ensemble, as well as conducted them through the professional recording of dozens of CDs. I also trained and conducted students for the recording of highschool musicals.

I began my conservatory bachelor degree training in cello and chamber music in 1997, and graduated 2010. Since then, I have studied singing technique with pop star Silvia Mezzanotte and with opera singers Chiara Fiorani and Noa Frenkel.

I love to teach singing, singing in Italian and Italian diction to students of all ages and backgrounds who are ready to explore their own souls and bodies and to learn how to be themselves through sound and music.

I have been teaching private lessons since 2008. I have performed on movie soundtracks and was a guest soloist with Hamline University Orchestra. I am certified in Suzuki Method and also teach traditional lessons. I've worked with students age 4 to adult.

You are never too old to begin! I've worked with beginners of all ages.

Playing is about so much more than just classical music and scales! Although we love scales. Scales are how we show off how fast we can play. In addition to solid fundamentals of technique and musicality, I teach a broad range of styles including folk/fiddle, pop, and movie and video game scores. You'll get to learn the music that YOU want to play!

About Alex

My daughter, Ada, was losing interest in her violin lessons and not making progress, so we signed her up to take lessons with Alex. This turned out to be the best decision that we could have made. Alex had excellent rapport with my daughter and was quickly finding important practice points for her to focus on. Even more important I was impressed with the multitude of solutions and exercises that Alex came up with to help my daughter get beyond her problem areas, and bad habits. On top of this, Ada was having fun, and was getting really motivated to practice. Alex’s attention to detail, excellent skill on the instrument, creativity with exercise ideas, and persistent yet friendly character were the perfect ingredients for a positive and productive music lesson experience. We would still be taking lessons with Alex if she still lived in our area for sure. (She is also an incredibly talented composer, which is a great thing for young musicians to learn about).

Alex is a truly gifted teacher. Teachers like her are rare especially when it comes to the arts. Not only does she make lessons fun but she also has the ability to put people at ease. Alex is also great at teaching those with learning differences. I Have extreme learning disabilities along with visual perceptual processing difficulties and thus have many blocks in place when it comes to learning things such as theory. No matter how long it takes me to understand something Alex is ever patient never giving up on me never getting frustrated with me. She has found many ways around many of the blocks that I have with theory. When I first began lessons with Alex I couldn't clap or count rhythm unless I had the main part. Since taking lessons with Alex I am now able to count rhythm better when I am not the main part. I would highly recommend Alex to anyone looking for a great teacher!

I provide a fun experience of learning to play and share music. My philosophy in working with students is to curb their interests with my vision for their success with technique and musicality. I want my student to not only become good cellist, but also enjoy music on a theoretical and historical level. My overall goal is to make a connection with people that will last and music can be an outlet for growing as a person.

About Carrie
Carrie recently relocated to Ann Arbor Michigan after finishing her masters to start a cello studio and freelance. Since moving she has performed with the Jackson Symphony, South West Symphony Orchestra, and West Symphony Orchestra.
Carrie Miller studied at Florida State University with Greg Sauer for a Masters of Music in cello performance and received a Bachelors of Music in cello performance from the California State University Sacramento where she studied with Professor Andrew Luchansky.
Carrie began playing the cello at nine years old in Davis California where she grew up. During her 4 years at CSU, Sacramento, she had masterclasses with pianist-composer, Eric Zivian, cellist, Timothy Eddie, and cellist, Steven Doane. In 2015 she performed the Lalo Cello Concerto after being a winner of the CSU Sacramento Concerto Competition.
While attending Florida State University, Carrie performed with the opera, the University Symphony Orchestra, the baroque ensemble, and the viol ensemble. During her masters, she also performed with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Symphonia Gulf Coast Orchestra, Albany Symphony Orchestra, and Panama City Pops Orchestra. One of the greatest moments in her career was to play with world renowned singer, Renee Fleming.
She has taught cello privately for the past 10 years and continues to do so with her private studio as well as working for The Community Music School of Ann Arbor where she works as a cello teacher, chamber music coach, and operations manager. Teaching enriches her life as a person and cellist by connecting with musicians of any level and sharing her passion for music.
