Hey everyone! My name is Sam Stout, and I am currently a trumpet performance student at the Peabody Conservatory. My primary teachers are Tony Prisk, second trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Billy Hunter, principal trumpet of the MET Opera Orchestra. I have also taken lessons from Andrew Balio (principal of the Baltimore Symphony), David Bilger (principal of the Philadelphia Orchestra), and Tom Hooten (principal of the LA Phil). Over these past few years, I have a developed a deeper and more accurate understanding of the fundamentals of the trumpet and what is the proper way of learning the instrument.
What I enjoy about learning and performing as a trumpet player is that you always have to solve problems but with the pursuit of creating beauty. Although it can be frustrating to experience problems in our playing, solving those problems is highly fulfilling as a student and teacher. If you decide to study with me, I will be fully dedicated to solving your individual needs.
About Sam
At this point, I am teaching beginner students mostly those starting in middle school/early high school although I am open to teach any age. My number one priority is improvement but also making sure learning the trumpet is fun. I believe the best way to learn and teach is through encouragement, re

He always had a solid lesson plan each week, teaching me technical skills along with improvisation and music theory. What stood out most was his animated and enthusiastic personality, which made me look forward to lessons each week. He taught using a very Socratic method, guiding me along much of the complications of music theory and allowed me to gain my own understanding of musical concepts.
Bobby was easy to communicate with and very willing to help expand my playing in whatever interest I had at the time. I highly recommend lessons with him."
