Hi! My name is Ariel. Thank you so much for looking at my profile. Here is some information about my educational background, performance career, and how I believe I benefit students.

I was heralded as an “impressive young…discovery” by the Los Angeles Times in 2010 when I made my operatic debut with Long Beach Opera as Nancy T’ang in Adam’s Nixon in China. I have performed roles such as Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen, First Woman in Cherubini’s Medea, Second Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and Giovanna in Verdi’s Rigoletto. I have been a soloist with the Blackbird Music Project, and I regularly collaborate with composers in the Southern California area. I was a fourth place winner in the Palm Springs Vocal Competition and am an OperaWorks alumna. I have a Masters degree from the University of
Southern California, Thornton School of Music and I have a Bachelors degree from Northern Arizona University. I also completed a teaching internship at the California Lutheran University.

My style of teaching is tailor made for each student because everyone has different goals and needs. I focus on making singing fun and painless while setting a strong technical foundation. My goal for the student is to take away technical issues so they can be musically expressive and show the world who they are.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid back teacher. My hope is that students will feel improvement in their lessons and it will motivate them to practice. In my opinion, the lessons should be fun, educational, and safe.

My curriculum is based on the needs of the student. In general, I always begin with breathing techniques. Breathing is the foundation of singing and so I tend to spend some time trying to show the student the most efficient and most effortless technique. Then I move on to what I have learned from my own voice teacher, and I will teach the students what are called "vocal function exercises." These are a series of gentle warm ups that teach the student a combination of breath pressure, resonance, and eliminating physical tensions within the neck, chest, and back. Then I move on to incorporating these ideas into repertoire. I like to decide repertoire with the student based on their preferences and their skill level. Generally I like to give the student one classical piece in a foreign language and one musical theater piece, but this is not set in stone.
I hope that after a few months the student will have an understanding of breathing, beginning vocal technique, and some repertoire we have been working on.

All of this said, ultimately I do not hold students to my own expectations. I want them to learn at their own pace and not feel they need to be at a certain point after a certain amount of time.

Learning is one of my main pursuits. My name is Azuri and I have studied music for over a decade and have my degree in guitar performance from musicians institute. I've had the gift of studying many artistic crafts and spend my time today trying to further my own study, while sharing what I've learned with my students.

Art is one of the most important tools we have as a culture and contains in it a shared history, tradition and the keys to future ones. Whether it be through the primal qualities of music or the impulses of dance, the records of drawing or descriptions of writing, these are the tools for our expression. I have had the great fortune to study, in many different settings, a small piece of these traditions and sharing them is paramount in respect to receiving them. I love sharing knowledge and I hope to elevate yours as a st
udent.

Teaching Philosophy -

My teaching philosophy is built on well rounded communication, explanation and examples. So, that a student can truly understand and learn a topic, surrounded in a very humorous, light and supportive environment.
Along with being provided good information, a student learns better and feels more motivated to learn when there is a balance of positive support and confidence building accompanied by constructive criticism and examples/information that can help a student assess what ever walls they may be meeting in their musical growth.

I understand that all students/artists have different goals they wish to achieve. So it is very important to me to accommodate each individuals needs and wants to help them grow in the fields they wish too; However, In that I have played music for a long time, I understand there are certain things that a student may not have been exposed to yet; It is important that while focusing on a students artistic goals they respect and are open to the suggestion and guidance of their teacher.

I truly believe music has an amazing influence on the world and has the ability to change peoples way of thinking. Therefore, I try and keep an open awareness to all music, so that I can understand all different musical languages utilized to communicate to people, and I don't believe I will ever know them all. I hold it to attention to influence my students somewhat similarly so that they can shape the landscape of how we communicate musically in the future.

I also try and be very patient with my students. Knowing that when I feel rushed, it makes information more difficult to comprehend, remember and allocate. I love watching the gears run in my students head, so I try and provide information that pushes a student but is within their abilities.

HUMOR is very important. I like to break people out of their shell by telling a joke and hopefully getting one back, so they feel more comfortable and free. One of a Artists worst enemies are nerves. Keeping things light-hearted and maybe even a little small talk can be very helpful to a students development and growth on a topic. After all, Art is meant to be fun and we should enjoy every moment of it, in fact we should enjoy every moment in life period.

I understand music requires focus and discipline and I have certain expectation of a student to understand that and practice. You can't buy chops, you can't buy music theory etc. you can get help but eventually your the one who must understand it and play it.

I am here to help you. Based on what I know and what I have extensively studied, I will do all that I can to help you achieve your musical goals. I am here to answer your questions and help you grow. I love teaching because I love sharing knowledge; As long as your seek it, it is here for you. Otherwise, I'd still love to hear some jokes.

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm very disciplined but am also very light hearted. It's important for me to assess things seriously, so that one can understand a topic or piece of information.

I generate my lessons based on the individuals needs and therefore draw from various curriculums, sources and examples, such as : MI curriculum for ear training, Theory, Single string Technique, Reading, Rhythm guitar, Ted Greenes Chord Chemistry, Berklee Guitar Method, as well as The Real Book, other artist books(Eric Clapton, etc.) The Guitar Players Hand Book, Bach pieces and self developed curriculums, relative to the topic at hand and students personal goals, amongst many others.

-Beginning students within three months of consistent lessons should have the ability to solo and playing chords to songs that they are interested in and songs provided in the lesson along with a basic understanding of the major scale and its relationship to all of the diatonic music.

-intermediate students should have an elevated understanding of scale and chord patters along with the theory that explains modal relationships and use of these concepts.

-Advanced students should learn all of diatonic scale shapes and modes assuming they don't already know them in which case their specifically situation will be assessed

-Professional students I expect to have specific questions therefore where they grow should be largely subjective.

Overall, in a short amount of time on a scale of 1 - 10 I expect to in three months at-least elevate a students musical abilities one full point if not more.

I teach students age 4-late adult. I have students at beginning level all the way up to advanced level. We work on how to listen and play as a group and learn about stage presence etc. Students learn how to perform and practice performing for audiences 2-6 times a year.

Jill Zor has been teaching music privately for over 15 years. Some of her students have won concerto competitions and music awards, music scholarships and participate in local youth orchestras. She teaches violin, viola, and piano.

Jill graduated with her Bachelor's of Music Degree in Performance Violin and Viola from the Cole Conservatory of Music at the California State University, Long Beach as a music scholarship student and on honor roll. She also studied piano at university and privately and studied jazz im
prov on violin and jazz theory at Saddleback College. Jill had private violin lessons with 12 different teachers and has been playing the violin for almost 25 years.

Jill has performed at the Segerstrom Concert Hall, Walt Disney concert Hall and Soka Performing Arts Center.

Jill also attended the Montecito Summer Music Festival and Soka's Chamber Arts Festival to study and perform string quartets and piano quintets.

Jill also is classically trained and performed professionally with the Dana Point Symphony, Montage Civic Orchestra, Brentwood/Westwood Symphony, Laguna Niguel Presbyterian Church orchestra, Vanguard Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Irvine. She also worked as a violinist for Irvine Valley College.

She performs classical, pop music, and jazz and plays reggae music, top hits, movie music, and rock for professional violin events as a solist and with a violin and cello duo.

Jill is patient and has a variety of students and able to adjust to each student's personality and needs.

Jill has performed as a solo violinist at the Orange County Fair in 2007 and 2008 with a Bluegrass band and was a concerto competition winner in 2004 performing Haydn's Violin Concerto No. 2 with the South Orange County Chamber Orchestra as a soloist.

Method books used:

Piano students learn from the Faber & Faber books, classical piano collection books, Bastien method books, Snell, Hanon exercises, and scale books by Bastien.

Violin and viola students use Suzuki method books along with reading music and playing all standard violin and viola literature outside of the Suzuki method. Students learn vibrato and shifting to other positions and learn from etude exercise books, scale studies using Carl Flesch books or Essentials for Strings books, and Sassmanshaus Early Start on violin, a fun method book for young violin students.

Etude books used: Wolfahrt, Kreutzer, Rode, Dont, Fiorillo, Gavines, and exercises from Schradiek and Sevcik. Composers and literature taught: concertos by Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Hoffmeister, Stamitz, Mendelssohn, Wieniawski, and Kabalevsky to name a few. Bach Sonatas and Partitas and Bach cello suites for viola. Sonatas by Beethoven, LeClair, Vivaldi, Frank, Brahms, and more! Jill can also teach pop, fiddle, and has studied jazz improv and jazz theory.

Private violin students can participate in the Certificate of Merit program testing in Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach.

Students also learn to read music (Sight reading) and learn rhythm.

2 optional recitals per year for students.

Jill can help students with orchestra auditions for local youth orchestras.

She has helped students get into All State and All Southern Youth Orchestras, join youth orchestras that summer tour Europe, helped students with Certificate of Merit, and auditions and acceptance into the Orange County High School of the Arts and college auditions.

She has taught at various music studios and coached music at high schools and middle schools in orange county.

Crystal brings a lifetime’s experience of professional musicianship to each of her lessons. Born into a family of musicians, she sang her first solo at age 2. She also benefits her students with an extraordinarily diverse musical background, having worked as a vocalist in gospel, country, musical theater, jazz, classical, rock, pop and soul styles. Her performing career has taken her from L.A. church meetings to London’s Houses of Parliament.

Crystal hails originally from Los Angeles, CA - where her musical parents gave her a head start by including her in the family business the moment she was able to contribute. She went on to study classical voice, piano and music theory at The Boston Conservatory of Music. After concluding her studies in London, she returned home and began working regularly as a theater performer, appearing in twen
ty world premiers and re-imagined classics. Most notably she played the lead role of Keely Smith in the big band jazz musical “Louis and Keely: Live At The Sahara” during its eight-month run at Westwood’s Geffen Playhouse. She also formed her own rock band, The Honeysuckle Jones Revival, with whom she performed her own songs all over Los Angeles. And she began working as a studio session vocalist, providing demo vocals for other songwriters, as well as arranging and performing back-up vocals for original artists, including Laura Roppe (currently in the Top Ten on Billboard’s Uncharted list of emerging artists.) Crystal played the lead role of Brooke in the new operatic rock musical “The Burning Opera LA” during its Los Angeles run in 2011 as well as providing ensemble vocals and playing piano and bass. She also performs holiday tunes from the Golden Age of American songwriting with musical quartet The Sleigh Belles.

Crystal believes that music is serious business but that it should be fun. She encourages her students to play music they love, as well as expanding their musical knowledge. She is a firm believer in basics first and emphasizes theory and technique as the tools to support creativity and provide freedom, power and control. She believes effort beats talent every time and the student who practices consistently will see results, whatever their level of ability. Most of all, she believes we were all born to make music.

Crystal is an amazing piano instructor. She is patient, understanding and dedicated. My daughter has learned so much from her. Amazing singng instructor

Crystal has increased my daughter’s self-esteem and expressiveness through song. My daughter is now writing her own poetry and song lyrics, as well as being able to combat her once shyness quality. She loves to perform in front of others now and has a confidence level that amazes me, especially now that she is going into those “teen” years. I have been playing and performing the drums for the past 10 years.

In a teaching situation I try and provide a relaxed and friendly environment in order to learn a students strengths and weaknesses. I want students to be able to learn at their own pace, and not to worry if they think they are not learning quickly enough.

I generally work as a for hire musician playing for various acts in the styles of rock, funk, blues, jazz, and even movie scores.

I have toured throughout California and have had the privilege to open for such artists as A Flock of Seagulls, Jennifer Leitham, Daniel Glass, and Jack Sheldon.
I have recorded drums for movies including Stomp the Yard, and Obsessed; played with acts such as Big Dave LIttle, Brett Copeland, and Kenji Igus. I have played with such jazz musicians including Richard Simon and Roger
Neumann.

I attended the AVPA from 2006 to 2009 and have a degree in Psychology.

*** Lesson Details ***
In the lesson setting I want the student to become as comfortable with the drums as possible. I like to maintain a relaxed environment, allowing the student to move at his or her own pace. This in mind, I believe the fundamentals are the most important to learn.

Students will first learn the basic hand techniques needed for accomplished drum playing, before moving on to more complex ideas behind groove, and feel. Reading music and keeping effective time will be emphasized in early lessons.

I also like to teach students that drums are a musical instrument that is typically played with other musicians. A student will learn how to play and interact well with other musicians in a variety of musical settings.

I use a combination of books for teaching including:
Syncopation by Ted Reed
The All-American Drummer by Charley Wilcoxon
The Drummer's Bible by Mick Berry and Jason Gianni
Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone
I will also use various drum charts and exercises as well as the use of videos and recordings.

After 3 to 6 months a student will be able to read drum notation and rhythms at a competent level and will be able to play basic drum beats on the drum kit as well as have a basic understanding of how to play with other musicians in various styles of music.

Equipment includes two drumsets, drum pads, sticks, and instructional material.

The class is essentially for students who have at least some basic knowledge of piano and music theory. Music performance is like a workshop class to radically improve the performing skills of the student. I will focus on specific techniques which will help the student perform more effectively. An intermediate level of piano is recommended for the class.

At the age of fifteen, Ms. Regina graduated with honors from the Z. Paliashvili Special Music Gymnasium for Gifted Children in Tbilisi, Georgia. As a student of a famous Georgian pianist, Tengiz Amirejibi, she presented her country in numerous competitions. (Tengiz Amirejibi was a student of Heinrich Neuhaus, a famous Russian teacher and pianist.)

As a child, Ms. Regina gave many solo recitals and concerts with the Georgian Symphonic Orchestra. Ms. Regina earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts with emphasis on Advanced Piano Performance from the Yerevan State Conservatory. After graduating, she worked with talented children in her alma mater for many years. Later in her professional career, Ms. Regina taught at the Tbilisi State Conservatory as well as the Moscow Music Gymnasium.

With more than eighteen years of professional teachin
g experience, Ms. Regina is able to offer her students a diverse range of educational resources. She specializes in teaching piano, performance, and music theory to students of all ages and levels.

Ms. Regina's teaching techniques are based on a combination of the famous Russian Music School (based on music giants such as Konstantin Igumnov, Daniel Barenboim, and Heinrich Neuhaus) and the American Music Education System. This combination allows each student to work at a pace comfortable for him/her, and helps all students make significant progress in the areas of sight reading, ear training, and performance skills.

***Teaching Schedule***
Ms. Regina teaches in her Glendale studio and the surrounding areas every day of the week except for Saturdays. She teaches in her Orange County studio located in Fountain Valley on Saturdays.

About Rebecca
Welcome! My name is Becca M. and I am an experienced songwriter, guitarist, and performer looking to share my knowledge and love of music with others. I am available for in-home, in-studio, and online lessons.

I've been teaching private lessons since 2009 and graduated this May 2017 with a Bachelors of Music degree from the highly selective Popular Music Performance program at the University of Southern California. I'm a patient, supportive, and enthusiastic person and am excited to work with students to help them find their own unique musical voice. I have worked with Larry Gold (Justin Timberlake, Mark Ronson), Rick Friedrich (The Roots, Rihanna), Sean Holt (John Legend, Bruno Mars), and many more music industry professionals.

I have experience with music of a multitude of genres including folk, rock, blues, funk, R&B, Motown, and
more. Lessons with me will be built around your own unique personal goals and are scheduled to best fit to the student’s schedule when possible.
