Hello! I’m Jeff, an experienced guitarist with 15 years of live performance experience and 7 years of teaching experience. I pride myself in my ability to make lessons as fun and informative as possible.

I customize my lessons to the student depending on their skill level/goals. So whether you want to shred solos, understand songwriting, or just want to be able to strum through your favorite songs, I can help you get there!

I like to find fun ways to teach songs and link it together with music theory, so that my students can play music as well as understand it. This can help you to figure out songs on your own in the future.

I specialize in teaching Blues, Jazz, Rock and Fingerstyle. All ages welcome!

Please message me if you are interested.

My daughter loves her lessons with Jeff. He is a very skilled guitarist and makes it fun to learn. He is able to teach her quite a bit in the amount of time she has with him. She looks forward to her lessons and enjoys practicing what she’s learned in between.

Jeff is a colleague of mine and we’ve worked closely together both in a teaching setting and performance setting. Not only is he a killer performer and player, he’s also a really great teacher. He knows his stuff, is great with kids and adults and really inspires his students. I’ve watched countless students flourish with him as a teacher. Couldn’t recommend him more!

Mathew has made learning fun and stress free for my son. Without Mat's patience and support I do not believe my son would be taking lessons for more than a couple of months much less a year later. Teaching for over 24 years; owner of my own music store/studio for past 14 years.

Teaching beginner - advanced from age 5 to 70+.

I typically use the 21st Century Guitar method book with audio CD and I supplement the text with write-ins or handouts/worksheets as applied to the student's needs and questions. I try to get students playing chords as soon as possible; usually stating with open position power-chords and one or two finger open position chords.

I do flatpicking and fingerstyle ( with or without picks) and encourage students to try both. I try to get the student to sing and play - don't be bashful...I try to have fun with students.

I will help you learn to create chord progressions and write a chord chart and maybe a melody for your first songwriting experience. Usually we will do this using power -chords for beginners or what ever chords the student can handle.

I can train you how to learn songs by ear from recordings once you have some basic abilities.

About Sam

"I used to play drums, but since I live in a small studio apartment, I had to give it up for a while. I decided to take guitar lessons as a replacement. I did some research online for teachers and based on the reviews and videos, I decided to contact Jimmy.

I knew nothing about guitar, music theory, scales, chords, etc...nothing! I was nervous and overwhelmed about learning and studying it all. I've been taking lessons for about three months now and within the first month, I was already learning scales and chords. Jimmy's structure is very efficient and thorough and tries to make the learning process easier for his students to understand.

As a person, Jimmy is cool, laid back and very down to earth. He's very flexible if you need to re-schedule a lesson. He's always available by phone/text or email if you have any questions or if you're stuck trying to figure something out. The stuff he teaches and the advice he gives will definitely help you apply it for when you perform or jam with other musicians. A quote he repeatedly says has stuck to me: "It's not about practice, practice, practice...it's about WHAT you practice." And it's true. Jimmy will teach you how to be a trained musician, not just an average guitar player.

Even though it's only been three months, I've learned so much! I really look forward to where I'll be in the next few months/years. He's also giving me the opportunity to get back into drumming! I'm very glad I decided to take lessons with Jimmy!"

"Jared is patient, encouraging, extremely knowledgable, and the perfect teacher for me. I had learned some chords from Youtube but Jared's style of teaching is to not only teach what you need to know now, but set up for later stages of guitar playing.
Jared breaks down songs into pieces, and provides a slowed down recording to play along with. I find this the absolute best part about practicing, to play along with Jared's recording. It also means if I haven't played a song for a while I can go back to the recording for the strum/structure.
Without Jared I don't think I would have stuck with the guitar, and after almost 18 months Jared is encouraging me to explore the electric guitar and take the lessons in a new direction.
There are regular performances with all the students, it's no pressure, and I haven't had one go perfectly yet while on the actual stage (in practice they are perfect) but they give students an opportunity to perform in an environment where they can make mistakes and just get out there and try it!

I would strongly recommend Jared as a guitar teacher - the recordings, the encouragement, the performances, he is a very dedicated teacher."

"Albert is a musical genius and a perfect teacher. For years, I wanted to build on my guitar playing as a kid, improve and learn how to play my favorite songs in fingerstyle (Albert teaches all styles), but I could never find a teacher. I finally found Albert, literally almost twenty years ago. With his help, I tremendously improved and learned to play some great songs. I would bring in a CD with a great solo version of songs like Eleanor Rigby, Albert would figure out the tablature for it, and he'd help me learn it. We've done that with more songs that I can count Since I met Albert, YouTube came along, and now it's even easier to find great fingerstyle versions of songs on which I can work with Albert. My schedule does not permit me to see Albert and practice as much as in the past, but I still play, and ask Albert to help me with new arrangements I've found. I am not inherently musically gifted, but I have sufficiently improved that people have sometimes stopped to listen to me play when I'm shopping in guitar stores. I cant imagine there's a better person out there to help you achieve your goal of being able to play well."

I walked away with straight-forward exercises to get me ready for my next lesson. I appreciated that Jason reached out before my appointment to gauge my experience and was very positive as I moved (that is stumbled) forward.
