A fun easy going learning environment that's filled with knowledge to incorporate as you learn more. In the lesson, you are expected to always listen to your sound because you will begin to understand the note vibration and intervals that make up the components

About Jeffrey
Hello! I'm excited to all of you who have made it to my profile. I am a classically trained cellist from New Orleans who is ecstatic to teach anyone who is interested and loves the cello! I started playing cello in the 4th grade after a reading a book about a blind man playing the cello. I joined the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra and progressed through all of the orchestras after attaining principle chair. While in High school I attended the best art school in the city and started teaching for the New Orleans String project to begin sharing my knowledge.
I am excited to learn from you as well as teach you if you are interested! We can start with the basics or get right into the juicy stuff. Feel free to message me if you have any questions! I would love to walk you through the process and get started.Chao!

I met Jeffrey after one of his performances at Loyola University and hired him to give my son lessons. He is really passionate with his teaching and seems quite knowledgable on the subject of classical cello. Would definitely recommend him to any individuals or parents looking to hire a cello teacher out there.

I am a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston.
I'm currently accepting students in San Francisco and surrounding areas for cello, piano, guitar, beatboxing, and live looping.

I have a patient and relaxed attitude toward teaching with an emphasis on a balance between having fun while learning and developing the methodology of practice and discipline.
Lessons are taught in your home or at my studio in the Mission District.

About Joseph
Joey aka CelloJoe is an anomaly in the world of cellists.

By combining cello with beatboxing, he has created a unique genre: Classical Hip Hop.

CelloJoe records live on stage with a loop pedal and produces intricate tapestries of harmony, melody, and rhythm. His beatboxing (vocal percussion) and funky cello grooves form a rich soundscape for intelligent lyrics and his music spreads love, joy, laughter and conscious vibrations.

By beatboxing, throatsinging, singing, plucking and bowing the cello, CelloJoe can mimic many styles of music from dubstep to folk to rock to classical to hip hop.

CelloJoe is the world's first long distance musical bike touring cellist.
He has ridden his bike over 10,000 miles in the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia.

Joey has been a great cello teacher. I like the fact that his experience covers a broad range of music. When I want to make an arrangement of a heavy metal song, or I need to learn the nuance of baroque performance, he's there.
He's a working musician so his schedule is somewhat variable, but he is good about communicating and always comes when he says he will. He's personable and enthusiastic.

Taking cello lessons from Susan has been a wonderful experience for my child, and it has been lovely for me to associate with her. Susan has passion, warmth, and many years of experience. Initially, it can be a bit overwhelming (especially as a parent with little musical experience) to take in all that Susan will throw at you, but soon you will see the benefits of her broad range of knowledge and the holistic education she offers. She covers the many facets of playing cello, including rhythm, reading music, theory, group practices, careful attention to bow hold, tone production, performance, ensemble playing and listening. She is consistent and reliable. My child looks forward to Susan’s lessons each week and has commented, “Susan always finds something good, then gives me ideas on how to make it better.” She puts a lot of time, resources, and creativity into enriching activities that motivate kids to stay engaged and practice regularly. We highly recommend her!

My primary instrument is french horn but I have been playing cello for 5 years. I have played in various groups in high school and at Grand Valley State University. The instrument is a lot of fun to learn.

About Katie
I love to inspire students to practice, that is where the real magic happens. I love to see them not only set goals for themselves but reach them. I am willing to do whatever it takes to see them succeed. I love working with people and encouraging them. I have been a horn player since August 2007. I am studying french horn at Grand Valley State University but am also efficient in euphonium, piano, music theory, aural (reading rhythms and reciting them aloud), and trumpet. I have been in marching band for 6 years on mellophone so I can also help with teaching marching techniques and mellophone playing since it is very different from french horn.
