Distinct, yet similar to the electric guitar, mastery of the acoustic guitar is an art all its own. Even if you're starting from scratch, my patient and steady lesson plans will have you beautifully plucking away in no time.

I have little to no experience with guitar, but Ralph makes it very easy to get started and I began learning technique and chords right away. He clearly has a passion for music, but also experience in teaching others to play. He's not only compassionate and understanding for the difficulties you face as a beginner, but is also ready to challenge you and keep you motivated when learning gets frustrating. You'll progress quickly with him as your teacher.

I've been teaching acoustic guitar for 7 years (since I was a teen myself!). Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to read and play from basic tabs, and as time goes on we can work on songs you pick yourself. I generally don't teach guitar students to read sheet music unless they ask; this is because in the "real world" of playing musicians, guitarists rarely use actual sheet music except in a classical setting. I specialize in beginner and intermediate acoustic, pop, country and fingerpicking style. Students should have and bring their own guitar. I will work with students ages 6+, but I recommend waiting until close to age 10 for guitar, as it requires some hand size/strength to reach many chord shapes. Ukulele is a fun option for smaller kids 6+ and I teach that too!

About Maya

- I am classically trained in piano and music theory (attended college for both from the age of 15) and have a strong emphasis on music theory and good technique in my lessons, but I also understand the importance of ear training. My goal is help students to achieve their fullest musical potential. As a foundation for the lessons students will learn to read and write traditionally notated music. For more advanced students honing their ears and understanding of music theory will be a focus in addition to their playing.

I'm well versed in many different styles (classical, jazz, acoustic, rock, blues, funk, metal, etc) so they can expect a healthy understanding of each of these styles and more during our studies.

I’ve played with Christian for years and gotten a few lessons in the process. Christian is an easygoing, kind, and hilarious guy, and one of the most dedicated, professional, and tasteful players I know. As a teacher, he is patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and flexible in his approach. He’ll find new angles to explain the same subjects until he finds the right one that clicks with you.

This is just what I was looking for! Christian is a wonderful instructor. After only one lesson, I'm so thrilled as this is just what I need to help me progress. He's polite, friendly and patient. I'm very very happy!

I have been teaching acoustic guitar for years. I design my lessons based on the individual needs and goals of my students.

About Omar

My passion is sharing music with people. I love to answer questions and learn things I don't know, I know a good amount about guitar repair, improvised instrument building, how to buy a good instrument and not spend to much, and I have a vast knowledge of obscure instruments, and audio producti

Omar is great! Super knowledgeable and informed, and friendly! would definitely recommend!
Joseph
I loved my lessons with Omar! He's very knowledgable, and not just about the instrument but music in general. He worked with me for about 7 months to help achieve my goal of learning to improvise on the bass guitar. Omar is very easy to talk to and very funny. He knew how to take complicated music theory and really break it down so that I could understand it better. I left each lesson with an assignment, a technique or a song to practice what we learned in that week's lesson.

I feel very comfortable with being able to be at a jam session and play along with the rest of the group. He taught me how to come up with licks using factorials, how to create a solo using modes and adding some flavor to the solos with techniques such as pop and slap or changing the tempo.

Thank you, Omar, for being such a great teacher! I feel much more confident in myself as a bass player because of the time you spent with me and all of the knowledge you departed onto me. I am very appreciative of you for that - thanks again!

Alex is great at tailoring each lesson by working through songs I want to learn to play and layering on the underlying themes / theory that is being used within each song. "David is not only a great musician and educator but also a delightful human. We began using David six years ago as a piano teacher for my two boys. Since then my eldest moved on to acoustic and electric guitar and my youngest electric and stand up bass. Somewhere along the way I began to take guitar lessons also (I was David's most bearded student at age 48). David always came prepared to lead but also to follow, he often asked what we were listening to and taught us how to play it. His ability to listen to a piece of music and transcribe it always left me amazed, we have several notebooks full of songs we learned individually or played as a group. After a shoulder injury David continued to impress by teaching me music theory instead of our usual lesson. I could go on forever, David made a positive impact on my family and feel fortunate to have met him."
