Over the last decade of teaching guitar full time to hundreds of students, my passion remains the same - teaching my students how to play the guitar, not just the songs. My own journey as a heavy metal lead guitarist and songwriter who's transitioned to classical music, folk and the blues has prepared me to teach how to play the guitar in almost every single style of music.

With over 4 years of teaching experience, 6 years of gigging and playing the guitar for 14 years, I have cultivated a unique approach to teaching the guitar. I take the time to listen to my students, hear their struggles and dreams and create a lesson plan that is truly individual. I've worked with beginners who've never touched a guitar to professionals looking to broaden their horizons, all ages too! I am a very professional, motivated and flexible teacher looking to help you learn the guitar!

The best way to learn the guitar is by learning the songs you love. As a beginner, we will start by learning the foundation to guitar playing such as hand placement and picking techniques. We will quickly jump into playing simple chords and scales, and learning the theory behind them. Before you know it, we will be playing your favorite songs and how to play solos over them.

Enough about me! We all know that everyone learns differently and has different strengths and weaknesses. My process is to analyze each student's unique abilities and to create a personalized learning experience for everyone. I have taught people from 5 to 83. I believe it is important to be empathetic to each person's needs, for example, I have experience teaching left-handed people, kids with Cerebral Palsy, Asperger's syndrome, people with missing fingers and other difficulties. Parents always ask me how I can be so patient with their kids, (the real secret is that I don't have to take them home ;) but on a serious note, I always remember the extreme amount of frustrating hours I put in before I got any real results. I have been teaching Rock, Jazz, Classical, Folk and just about any other kind of guitar lessons you can think of since 1998. I have a degree in Jazz Performance and also have an extensive background in music theory, ear training and music technology. I work as a freelance musician and private teacher in the United States as well as Europe. As a teacher I pride myself on being prepared and patient.
