I've been a musician all of my life. I have a music education degree and have performed in professional ensembles. I've played bass guitar in a funk rock band, covering many Red Hot Chili Peppers songs, as well as others from the 90's.
I currently focus my energy on the acoustic guitar, however I feel very comfortable playing and teaching introductory and intermediate skills on the bass, including techniques in finger picking and slap bass techniques.
Curriculum will include technique, styles discussion, songs, and performance.
About Joshua
I am a tutor who earned a music teaching degree, substitute taught, and didn't become a school teacher. I held professional tech retail jobs and am supplementing my life with my passion - education. Whatever subject or instrument I teach, I celebrate students' successes; and I enjoy helping lear

I've been performing music for over 15 years. I've been teaching guitar and bass for the past three years. I like keeping guitar fun! I will work with each student's individual needs and goals. I like all kinds of music and styles so don't feel embarrassed if you wanna learn a Taylor Swift song or Old Town Road. I like pursuing what the student is interested in while still teaching essential skills like rhythm, note reading, picking, muting, etc. Reach out and lets chat about bass!

As a teacher, he sets goals for me that are challenging but realistic, and provides the encouragement I need to follow through on those goals.
He focuses on helping me really hear what I'm playing (as opposed to what I think I hear), and to take responsibility for being an essential part of the harmonic and rhythmic foundation of an ensemble."

Overall, Andy is a magnificent teacher. Reliable, inspiring, passionate and dedicated to what each individual student wants to learn."
