"For every good bassist, there's a dozen great guitarists." Someone said this to me when I was a young wannabe rocker, I have found it to be true. The bass is the part of the song that everyone really hears. If lead guitar is the icing, bass guitar is the cake. Learn how chords work, and how to map them easily, and let your creativity take over from there.

About Scotty

I am an established performer having played in such bands as BigDamnCrazyWeight, Bring Back Dad and most recently, guitarist for Guadalupe Blue. I studied Music Theory at New Mexico State University with the amazing Dr. Don Hardisty and Composition with Dr. Warner Hutchison. I am passionate about mu

Great Teacher

Great teacher takes time to cover theory of music, and does hour lessons unlike most teachers in town who do 30min lessons. Have taken lessons from other teachers in the past, and all they do is teach you songs without explaining the reasoning behind it. Have learned more in the last few months then I’ve learn in years with other teachers.

I never had picked up a Bass Guitar until I was in College. My first month I met two guys who had known eachother from high school and wanted to start a band. They both played Guitar (my main instrument at the time) so I lied through my teeth and told them I played the Bass but I didn't have room to bring it so I'd have to borrow their's. I was currently in my first semester of Music Theory and the tuning is the same as the bottom four strings of a Guitar so I just went for it. They liked me and I was hooked! I was in that band for over 7 years!

I began teaching Bass in 2005 when I joined The School of Rock in Downingtown, Pennsylvania and haven't stopped since! My teaching method uses a lot of Music Theory and popular, noteworthy Bass songs to teach students how to be rock solid as the backbone of a band. I am an expert at figuring songs out by ear so pick your favorite tunes and we can learn to play them! From 'never played before' to 'I wanna learn a Jaco tune (if you don't know

I've been a musician all of my life. I have a music education degree and have performed in professional ensembles. I've played bass guitar in a funk rock band, covering many Red Hot Chili Peppers songs, as well as others from the 90's.

I currently focus my energy on the acoustic guitar, however I feel very comfortable playing and teaching introductory and intermediate skills on the bass, including techniques in finger picking and slap bass techniques.

Curriculum will include technique, styles discussion, songs, and performance.

About Joshua

I am a tutor who earned a music teaching degree, substitute taught, and didn't become a school teacher. I held professional tech retail jobs and am supplementing my life with my passion - education. Whatever subject or instrument I teach, I celebrate students' successes; and I enjoy helping learn

"As a beginning bass player with no previous experience, my daughter was relunctant to start online lessons. Julian quickly established a rapport with her. She now looks forward to her weekly lesson and even practices daily (a miracle) after school. Julian has taken the time to build a good relationship with my shy daughter, and she thinks he is wonderful. I am impressed by his willingness to not just teach the mechanics of playing, but to build a relationship with his students. I would recommend this dedicated and patient teacher."

"Knowledgeable, encouraging, patient, & prompt.

Having come from a very small musical background Nathaniel was extremely helpful in laying down a solid foundation for how to play the guitar and how to view music in general. Nathaniel clearly has a deep understanding of musical theory and performance. His lessons are structured around what you want to pursue, but at a pace and with material that is challenging, fun, and rewarding to complete. If you are looking for a teacher that is serious about music, experienced and poses the ability to help you reach your musical goals, whether that be increasing your aptitude with an instrument or studying complex theory, I would strongly suggest Nathaniel."
