I've been teaching broadway singing for over 6 years and my students have gone on to audition for musical plays, pursue musical roles, win competitions, and record CDs. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to breathe easier and have more freedom and as time goes on you'll be able to have a consistent, solid tone. I emphasize self-awareness and ask for feedback so that you know what to look for in your practices and performances. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

Please note: Age 12-17 will receive 30-minute sessions to be sensitive to the developing voice. Age 18+ will receive 45-minute sessions.

About Heather
Heather is graduate from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. An active member of GMU Opera, Heather participated in the program's performances of 'A Christmas Carol,' 'Amahl and the Night Visitors,' 'La Boheme,' and 'Suor Angelica;' as well as Carolina in the studio scenes of Cimarosa's 'Il matrimonio segreto.'

Heather made her solo debut at the Kennedy Center in April 2011 singing for the Karen Reedy Dance Company along with singing for the GMU Dance Company.

Heather has been studying voice for over 10 years emphasizing on pop and musical theatre styles prior to her opera training. Having learned the natural way of singing, Heather incorporates vocal health into her lessons with the theory of "self-awareness" while singing. Each student will sing only what is comfortable for THEIR voice and will r
eceive, as well as give, feedback on their singing.

She always makes time for you and she's very flexible when you have a busy schedule. She's super helpful, very sweet and she knows her stuff! I hope to come back very soon! Thank you for everything Ms. Heather! :)

Audition preparation, song selection, interpretation, character development, diction, intonation

About Francisca
I am a very passionate and dedicated instructor. I love working with students at all levels from ages 9 and up, from beginners to experienced adults. It doesn't matter where you are in your musical development, I can help and encourage you to be your very best. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Western Sydney Australia with (High Class Honors) and Majored in Music Performance and Sub Majors in Composition and Theatre. I have had the opportunity to perform in the USA at various venues and overseas in Australia at the Sydney Opera House to name a few.

My teaching experience dates back to my University days. I was in my first year of my music degree when I applied for my first teaching position at a music school in Australia. I taught there throughout the Four years of my Bachelor's Degree and remained teaching
there after that. I also started teaching at another well respected music school and remained there until the end of 2010. During this time I was very fortunate to have a large database of students who were with me from the beginning of my teaching career up until I left both schools. The only reason I left was as I am also a performer; I was offered an opportunity to perform overseas and i took it. It was a very exciting part of my life as a performer and has helped me grow as an artist and teacher immensely.

In 2012, I relocated to Miami and have been teaching from my private home studio while I continue working on my music career. As a musician and educator, I am very passionate about my teaching and like to bring the best out in my students. Every lesson is tailored specifically to your individual learning needs. I will teach you a vocal technique based on the Seth Riggs Teaching method with my own methods implemented, performance skills, repertoire selection, and audition preparation amongst other skills. It doesn't matter what your desired goal is, I can help you achieve it. The most important part of it all is that you have fun!!

And for piano I like to teach through a series of books depending on your learning levels. We can start at book one, with scales from the book A Dozen a Day, or we can take the the more traditional route of scales, or learn popular songs. This decision can be made by you and I when we meet at our first lesson and discuss what your goals are as a musician.

*** Lesson Details ***
Every lesson is tailored to your individual learning levels. I normally asses this in the first lesson. Lets start with the Singers.

Most singers are looking for help with contemporary popular music so using specific texts are void here. I will teach you a method of singing technique based on the Seth Riggs singing method, implemented with a technique called "Emotion Centered Singing" which will help you understand music beyond melody and composition but also through text and individual interpretation through story telling customed to your needs. I also teach Musical Theatre Singing, pop, rock, jazz, so if these are routes you would like to take, I can help you on your way there. I will help you choose repertoire for auditions, performances, we will work on performance and audition technique and many more fun things!!!

For the Pianists. This also depends on what you want to get out of your lessons. Do you want to learn pop songs? arrangements? Or do you want to learn classical pieces? I ask you all these questions and more at our first lesson to make sure you and I are both happy with the direction we will take. I use either Scale Books or The Dozen a Day Series or the ABRSM Piano series, Alfred's Adult Piano book and many more. Once again the important factor here is Fun based learning!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide a full size digital weighted piano for all Lessons, it has various different sounds and a great grand piano sound for piano students. Printer for any homework given, and stationery

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide some books for learning and make copies accordingly. The student should have a working piano/keyboard in the home. If i request they purchase a book for their learning development, they are required to purchase it.

*** Specialties ***
For Singing- I teach a method called Speech Level Singing. Similar to the Seth Riggs Speech level singing as well as a technique called Emotion centered singing which deals with connecting with the song and feeling the connection through the core. This is useful for performance and interpretation. I specialize in teaching, Pop, RnB, Musical Theatre, Rock and Folk

For Piano, I use a variety a books. I particularly like the Alfred's series as well as the Bastien Series. I also like to encourage other learning materials for holidays which is lots of fun!! This depends on the students learning level. I asses learning levels in the first lesson and plan lessons accordingly after that in order to have the student progress each week. I teach classical piano and contemporary, pop

About Gregory
I began to pursue a career as a vocalist at the age of 12. I studied for 6 years under a professional opera singer and landed a role in the chorus of 'Annie Get Your Gun' on Broadway starring Burnadette Peters and Tom Wopat.

I continued my studies at Wheaton College, MA, and graduated with a B.A. in Music. Throughout college, I directed and conducted vocal and instrumental groups of various genres, and also began teaching.

Since graduating in 2008, I've taught hundreds of students voice, guitar, piano, music theory, and audio engineering.

During the day, I am a Network Engineer and enjoy playing ice hockey!

*** Lesson Details ***
I first ask the student, as well as the parents, to agree on a set goal. Then, I develop a 'mini-curriculum' tailored to the student's strengths and weaknesses. I structure each lesson the same way
: theory fundamentals, exercises, and performance practice. Within each lesson, I incorporate visuals, games, and other media. Live performances are also highly encouraged.

My student's would say that my lessons are motivational and packed with energy. I always follow up with parents to discuss progress, and the student's mandatory log book helps to keep everyone informed of what is expected each week.

*** Instruments/Equipment ***
I provide only equipment that I will personally use for the lesson (books, audio, and instrument). I do not provide instruments, electronic equipment (i.e. amps, cords, keyboards, speakers, computer, etc), books, or sheet music. I expect my students to have or purchase all the materials they will need.

*** Specialties ***
I also offer ear training, songwriting, vocal arranging and music production workshops for artists interested in pursuing a career in the music industry.

I've been teaching voice and piano to students ages 4-adult for 5 years and I cannot get enough of it! It inspires me to see my students find confidence and make breakthroughs, and I truly strive to have a special bond with every single one of my students.

I specialize in the beginner piano student and beginner/intermediate voice student. Lessons are customized to the needs of the client, and while building a strong technical foundation you will also have a lot of fun! While helping you develop your voice you will also learn breath support, sight singing, a bit of music theory and text interpretation. Piano students will learn to sight read, go more in depth into theory and train their ear! Want to do both? Even better! We'll find the perfect mix to get you singing and playing in no time.

About Erin
I first started teaching 10 years ago when I became an assistant at a summer camp. I ended up loving it SO much that I haven't looked back since! I've been teaching specifically voice & piano for 5 years and I've had students as young as 4 to adult students. I also have 3 years of experience music directing JR musicals at a studio in the area.

I have been singing for 14 years, and took lessons for 8 of those years, so I've gotten to work with a lot of amazing instructors that imparted their vocal wisdom on me. I learned some amazing techniques and hope to pass that on to my students!

I attended California Institute of the Arts for a BFA in Vocal Performance. In my time there I studied pedagogy, repertoire, music theory, keyboard and world music. I specialized in classical voice during my time at CalArts, but upon moving back to th
e Virginia area I find myself teaching and singing A LOT of musical theater.

Along with my love of teaching, I also enjoy performing immensely. I've been in some community theater productions in the area, and I have also music directed one as well! I enjoy working with students on audition techniques and picking great songs that will get them cast as well.

I teach my lessons with a beautiful baby grand in the cozy basement of my home in Sterling.

The styles of voice I specialize in teaching are: classical, pop, and musical theater.

Please shoot me a message if it seems like we'd be a great fit for each other! I look forward to meeting you.
